About Il Capriccio
Il Capriccio serves a constantly changing Northern Italian menu featuring local products with an award winning Italian wine and Grappa list. Though long considered a local secret, Il Capriccio has been the number one Northern Italian restaurant in Zagat's for the past seven years. The wine list has been featured in Decanter, Sante, Wine & Spirits and Stuff. The same menu is served in the Bar. We like to serve great food and great wine in a comfortable setting.

Il Capriccio Ratings and Reviews
Long-time customer, very disappointed on a saturday evening.
Very rushed by waitstaff, arrogant waiter, very noisy, could barely hear our guests despite ha inv requested a quiet table and arrived at 5:30 pm.
Will never return on a saturday, and unsure re remainder of week
While my husband and I always enjoy Il Capriccio for its "old school" Italian, veteran wait staff that goes out of their way to make the evening memorable, and overall an excellent experience, something happened this time that drove us over the edge:
It was our anniversary. Table set with hearts, etc. Nice touch. Then why oh why, when we declined any dessert, did our waitress, who otherwise had been attentive, charming, fantastic, really, do the following:
She showed up, after we declined, knowing it was our anniversary, and brought us "a treat" - a little Italian dessert with a candle in it to recognize the occasion of our anniversary.
We thanked her profusely for the thoughtful gesture. THEN, stunningly, we received the bill - you guessed it! It had the dessert charge on the bill!! Really!!!!! That is very amateurish/bush league/wrong. My husband didn't have the stomach to debate it, but it turned us off.
Hope to receive a reply from restaurant about this one.
Food was very good especially the Lamb chops. The Veal medallions were very tender but the sauce could have used a little more flavor. The same goes for the mussel appetizer. The wine sauce seemed to lack a little flavor. The Chocolate Budino for dessert was outstanding!
We were in the restaurant mid-week, so it was pleasantly busy. We could converse. The service was extremely accomodation and timely. We felt we were dining, which the decor, music, food, and service all contributed to. The menu was lively and the food well-prepared and beautifully presented. Very nice experience.
Among the highest rated restaurants in our area, and for good reason. Always with high-quality ingredients and superb craftsmanship . We have been going to this restaurant for years and have never found a falloff in quality. If I were to express one small qualm, it would be in a certain stiffness to the layout more than made up for by an excellent waitstaff.
We were celebrating 2 birthdays. There were four of us. Two ordered fish and two ordered veal. All the dishes were superb. For appetizers we ordered muscles, calamari, and tuna. All three were prepared very well with the sauces on the muscles and calamari were excellent. One thing I did note was that it seemed to me that the size of the portions were a little smaller than the last time we ate there, but all in all, a wonderful experience. Well worth the cost.
Always spot-on food and service. Our most recent visit was no exception. Go with an Il Capriccio classic like chicken "schnitzel" or mix things up with one of many constantly changing daily specials like sweetbread-stuffed roasted quail. Wash it all down with a Brunello di Montalcino or a Barolo from the carefully-curated and extensive wine list. Not sure what to order --- Jan and Jason are there to help.
So good. My co-worker recommended this place and she did not steer me wrong. My husband and I had a rare chance to have a date night so I suggested this place. I had the scallop dish which was delicious and he had the veal which he enjoyed very much. My husband does not get excited about food very often. Mostly he views food as something necessary to keep himself a live, which is probably why he's so skinny. Anyway, when he really enjoys something, it must be very good. We especially enjoyed the lemon mousse dessert. True this place is expensive, but compared to a lot of other places I've been to that are around the same price, this is a way better value.
The food was great but the service was very, very bad. Our water had a lot of tables and provided extremely poor service to our table. We didn't get our wine and when we gave our credit card, the hostess delivered the check with our credit card to another table.
Awful service, the waiter and hostess didn't work together a team.
Everything was delicious, presented beautifully and in a not rushed but timely fashion.
A minor disappointment was dessert - we shared a mediocre apple croustade which had a weak crust and flavor lacking caramel sauce. Not a total failure but not as good as we thought it would be given how great the rest of the meal was.
