We had an amazing dinner last night. The new version of the fritter was memorable (very similar to a type of tempura in Japan); grey sole, one of our all time favorites is back with French lentils but with salsa on the fish. I used the salsa for the lentils and it was a wonderful contrast with the slightly sweet, delicate fish. The ruby red dot of salsa on the cream colored fish was very pretty. My husband had the Salmon with the Scotch sauce which was also wonderful. We had fettuccine bolognese as the other appetizer (which I can’t miss; it is the most wonderful dish). The dessert Crostata was also astonishingly refreshing after the full dinner.
We barely talked during the meal; your food just commanded our attention. Later we did marvel at your team’s ability to retain such a high level of consistency every single day for 38 years. It is a truly impressive feat.
We renewed our vow to bring more friends to your restaurant because the food enriches our lives so much. We are now on a mission.
Il Capricio, as always, was a wonderful dining experience. The menu is outstanding, the preparation was perfect, and the staff was courteous and helpful. The ambiance makes it a very comfortable atmosphere for a wonderful dining experience. My favorite restaurant in the area.
As usual and as expected, Il Capriccio provides a superb dining experience! The cuisine is consistently outstanding and highly creative in its preparation and presentation.
Predictably good food. Professional service. Always a treat!
First visit and will definitely go back. Delicious, tasty food. Excellent service and cozy atmosphere.
The food is always very good to excellent. On of my favorite places for a meal, whether it’s at the bar or one of the many dinning rooms.
Great arugula salad, great carbonara! Can't ask for much more
Food was excellent as was service. Wonderful restaurant
Schnitzel and Lemon mousse were fantastic. Excellent service. Highly recommend.
Always excellent menu and warm atmosphere. Appetizers are exceptionally good. Highly recommended.
Busy place but greeter and waiter were relaxed and efficient. The food was delicious and nicely presented. The lamb and chicken were excellent. Looking forward to going back!
Have never had a meal there that we didn’t totally enjoy. Perfect from cocktails to dessert!
Great place. We went for the first time. We are always looking for good Italian places outside the beaten path (or to americanized menu). It was crowded (reserve early!).
The ambience is not very romantic and a bit dated, but both food and service were very good. Recommended: Fois Gras, Souffle of Porcini, Gnocchi with boneless rabbit and the squid ink tagliatelle with octopus, bay scallops and mussels. Our son had the chicken schnitzel with herbed spaetzle (egg pasta) and fried egg, liked it as well. We will be back.
Best restaurant anywhere. Extensive wine list and food offerings that are beyond belief.
My problem is that I usually want to have one of the pasta dishes for desert and yet their desert offerings are out of this world.
Dropped in on short notice on a Friday eve, sat at their nice bar. Carbonara was luscious, other dishes lovely as well.
We live over an hour away, but every couple of years we make the pilgrimage with our children. We'd been to Rome with them for Christmas and took them to Il Capriccio the year after, and again this year. We have introduced it to friends in the wine business and two other couples who need to entertain clients now and then and were bored with downtown Boston. "Best food ever," says my son, who does not say things like that lightly!
The food was a bit pricey, but outstanding and definitely worth it for a special occasion. Our server was not 100% on top of her game: we had to ask for bread (which we observed on other tables) and she forgot the coffee we ordered with dessert. Neither was a very big deal but we expected better service for this caliber of dining. The busboy was very attentive, frequently refilling my water! There were 4 in our party and we ordered the veal chop, lobster risotto, black linguine with seafood and pasta carbonara: all superb. We split one dessert: the panettone bread pudding with cardamom ice cream; delicious!
We go to Il Capriccio for birthdays and anniversaries. It's expensive but it never disappoints.
Great Italian food, with a nod to some Northern Italian specialties, such as schnitzel and spaetzle. Relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. A superb dining experience.
Overall, outstanding on every visit. I dine out regularly and Il Capriccio is one of the few restaurants I return to regularly. The food is fantastic, the service is very good, the ambience is cozy and the Italian wine selection is as good as it gets. This is a great Italian restaurant.
a favorite that has awesome fresh Italian menu, thoughtful service and not fussy!
THe food is delicious, but most of all it's a lovely, quiet environment. Never been disappointed.
Wish they had lunch.
We've lived in Metrowest area for many years, but for some reason had never made it to Il Capriccio. So glad we did last night! Forgetting how popular this restaurant is, I was late in making a reservation earlier in the week, and ended up with an 8:30 pm time. Really no problem though...grabbed a drink beforehand in their intimate bar and sat down for a wonderful, warm dinner with friends. Tried the Stuffed Calamari, Pear Salad, Mushroom Soufflé and Charcuterie platter and then Trout, Lobster Risotto, Lamb, and Carbonara for dinner. Honestly, all were just delicious. Both the hostess and wait staff couldn't have been more inviting and attentive, and the overall ambiance was just lovely. Every table full with quiet dinner din in the background. Wrapped up with warm Chocolate Budino and Hazelnut Semmifredo for dessert. Definitely 5 stars!!! Can't wait to go back.
Very good food, but restaurant needs a makeover. Menu is a bit limited. Would return.
This was our first visit to Il Capriccio and we were thoroughly impressed. This is one of the best Italian restaurants that we have visited. Food and service was incomparable, friendliness and welcoming attitude of everyone from the moment we arrived. My wife was celebrating her birthday, and we could not have chosen a better place. See you soon.
Really good food, but there's no quiet table in this restaurant! We heard every word of discussion from the two people next to us.
I enjoy il capriccio, especially their mushroom soufflé's appetizer
We are never disappointed with the food or service at El Cappreicco. We were seated near a window (very cold evening) and were gracefully reseated when we requested a table change. Service is first class, not in your face but always available.
This was our first time here, but it definitely won’t be the last
An outstanding dining experience as it has been for many years. We have never been disappointed.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food here to celebrate my mom's birthday. The porcini soufflé is a signature appetizer which was delicious. We tried the lamb chops, duck breast and black linguini - all were delicious! Service was very good - prompt and attentive. They even had a few small touches to celebrate my mom's birthday - nice touch! We would recommend Il Capriccio to anyone and will definitely be back.
Great restaurant that we have gone frequently to. Delicious food. It was the first time we were taking our 2 kids there for dinner. We frequently do that to nice restaurants. However they were not friendly. They probably do not like children because they do not consume alcohol. Our older one had a regular adult portion, we asked for plain pasta which they accommodated. Impressively they charged $20 for a small portion of plain pasta. Rest of food was great. Mark, our server , should not be working there. Bad attitude!!
Unfortunately we will not be going there as often as we would like.
It was our anniversary and they were wonderful.
I had dinner at Il Capriccio with family last night and it was as amazing as the last time I went. Chris makes a mean Bourbon side car (old school and perfect.) The black ink pasta was delish, the porcini soufflé as decadent as always and chicken schnitzel moist and succulent. I can barely eat chicken at home because it just doesn't compare! Thank you to the team of chefs for making every mouthful worth the calories! I'll be back soon.
Had another amazing meal at Il Capriccio. Went with friends and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I’ve been coming here for years and they never disappoint. 5 stars always- though I do miss their holiday decorations. Let’s bring those back!
We celebrated an anniversary and the staff made us feel very special. The cheese in our Apple, Pear, Walnut and Gorgonzola Salad was particularly outstanding. My wife's veal tenderloin was oh so tender and my cannelloni had a delicate Bolognese filling. The picture is of our chocolate Budino dessert. I found the layout of the dining area very unique in how it kept the waiter stations and other utility functions out of sight from the guests. Very well thought out. An excellent restaurant. I would love to see a pasta with a Bolognese sauce offering in the future.
Had a wonderful meal with business colleagues and will return with my wife for a special occasion dinner.
Awesome!! First time dining here and will definitely be back!!
Had another nice dinner at Il Capriccio. Interesting cocktails, excellent super Tuscan - La Massa Giorgio.
Rabbit with Gnocchi a winner, tenderloin pork marsala with white beans really delish. Wife said the roast quail excellent. Vin Santo. Where's the suffering???
