Excellent as akeaty
It was good but not the best I have ever had.
Service was great and I liked the decor.
We had an outstanding evening at Il Capriccio!!! It was for my birthday dinner with my sibs. The staff were so very warm and welcoming and the every one of my family LOVED their dishes! Our waitress had a great suggestion for a red wine that we had never heard of - but are now fans of. We never felt rushed - only very wonderfully welcome and so very taken care of. To us this is THE star restaurant of the Greater Boston area. Just saying.....
Just an overall superb restaurant!
Incredible food and the best wine list I have seen in a long time !
Service is impeccable as well !
This is one of Boston’s best restaurants!
Exceptional food and wonderful service! We will definitely return . Nice attention to detail, including
birthday confetti on the table and a candle in a scrumptious dessert.
We had an excellent meal — every dish in every course was memorable.
The only restaurant I know year after year that the Quality and flavors get better each and every time we dine there.
Have only been there a couple times when entertaining out of town guests. They all loved it. I should go more often.
We hadn't been back for a while and I was glad to find that the food was still delicious and the ambiance lovely for conversation with friends. I had a wonderful Gavi di Gavi wine and my cod was delicate but flavorful.
On my bucket list for 15+ years, Il Capriccio did not disappoint! I had the octopus, beet salad and pasta carbonara -- all very approachable but spectacularly done. I also had a very interesting organic Italian wine made from a varietal that I'd had never heard of it. My friend and I were on our way to another event, so we didn't have time to linger, but I will definitely go back when I can take my time and work my way through the wine list!
I have never never had a bad meal there! The menu has options for everyone and changes monthly. It is better than the North End!
We had a lovely meal at the bar last night. I enjoyed a beautiful glass of Agrapart champagne paired with an elegant tuna tartare. Bravo!
My dining companion was impressed by the all the vegetarian options.
This is a cozy little bar. We will return!
Il Capriccio has been around for over 30 years and there is a reason for its longevity. The cuisine is consistently great, innovative, and the service is stellar. I wish I lived closer so that I could dine there more frequently, but it is always worth drive to create more excellent dining experiences! I was dined there on a Monday night with torrential downpours--and the restaurant was hopping--this says it all!
Another perfect meal at Il Capriccio. We tasted a few new items this time. The linguini and seafood was delicious. The pasta is homemade which makes a big difference. Instead of the traditional clams, this version had tiny scallops as well. It was yummy and officially better than Black-eyed Susan's Linguini. The cod was also delicious. I had my favorite calamari dish and can't wait to go have it again. Our friend had the lasagna bolognese and his plate was empty.
We had the mushroom appetizer too......yum. I am never disappointed. We sat at our favorite table in the back. Thank you again to Richie and the team.
Pricy but you get what you pay for. I took a beautiful woman there and we both had a great time. I would go again
Great restaurant! Went with another couple. We all thought the food was great!
Service was great. Menu was very interesting, food excellent. Ambiance for friends getting together was outstanding in a cozy space. Definitely will go there again and recommend to friends
Excellent menu, deep wine list and great service. Every time.
There is no other restaurant in the Boston area with such great food, caring service and a very well thought out wine program. Professional through out.
Really, Il Cap is good for all occasions! We are always in for a treat when we go. The staff are fantastic, from the lovely hostess, Liz, to Vinnie & Jan on the floor, Lydia at the bar, to Richie in the kitchen!
It really feels like coming to dine with friends, they are so personable, and obviously happy there.
The wine selection is great....always hard to choose because we want to try so many! Love how they have staff pics and you can actually get a sense of their drinking preference. There's always a new special or twist to an old favorite that can support repeat visits! It's our "local" favorite, even though it's a 25 min. drive from home.
Very good food...measured up to expectations from years ago !!
This restaurant never disappoints. It is fantastic in every way, every time.
My sister and I had a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic and the wine list superb. We chose to eat at the bar. The bar staff was welcoming and engaging. Overall a wonderful evening.
We had a nice evening, good food, but nothing special. I hadn't been to Il Capricio in a long time and, in the past, always had an exceptional dining experience there. I was a bit disappointed, especially for the price.
The four of us were dining here for the first time. I would highly recommend Il Capriccio for ambiance, service and especially for the food. Wait staff was attentive and informative on both food and wine selections....attentive but not intrusive. The appetizers we had were great, awesome charcuterie platter and the other couple thought their salad was fresh with great dressing. Food was spot on....Oslo bucco was delicious, another in our party had the pasta dish which was perfect. One other diner ordered halibut and asked if they could omit the mashed potatoes...not a problem according to our waiter and he asked if she would like veggies instead which she did. She was surprised as to how perfectly her fish was cooked and appreciated the option for veggies.
Although the space is large it’s different rooms which gave the space more of intimate feel. Definitely will want to dine here again as there were more things on the menu that I’d love to try.
My wife loved it - wants to go back next week! Presentation outstanding. Unusual blend of tastes and flavors. A real "gem."
It is heavy Italian food, no real vegetarian options. Fabulous service!
Linda was great with us when we came in at 9:15pm. She didn’t rush us. In fact she made sure we ate at an appropriate pace. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and the main menu. We went with small plates and had to limit what to order. There was so much to choose from. We chose the gravlax, mussels, escargot and the foie grad ravioli. Everything was excellent. We finished it with the lemon mousse.
Appetisers outstanding. Entrees mediocre. Service excellent. Wine list outstanding. The menu was interesting but lacked traditional Italian favorites like ousso bucco, veal cut off the leg, and veal chop.
I love this restaurant. I've been going here for more than 30 years. However, on this occasion, our server spilled our drinks and water all over our table and into our laps, soaking our clothes. They reset our table and dried off our seating while we stood aside in a crowded dining room. Not even a comped drink! Very disappointed.
THE BEST. We are regulars who are always impressed. Every meal is superior. Escargot, tuna tartare, chicken schnitzel, fettuccine Alfredo, quail., lemon mousse and chocolate budino You might think you’ve had these before, but you have to try them here.
As always everything was excellent!
As always, a wonderful dinner and evening with friends and family
Always a great meal and experience!
Given hearing issues we requested a table with a barrier wall so voices would not be surround sound, they accommodated us. It was my wife’s birthday and they treated her like royalty. The meal was exceptional - we are still talking about it days later. The staff convinced us to try a different wine than what we ordered and they were spot on and yet stayed within our budget. Wonderfully polite staff. Why not a 5? The guys next to us - one was loud and and forever it seemed used the F bomb every other sentence. He did not quit until we, and the staff, finally asked him to. Good job staff! What a wonderful restaurant!!! Thank you.
Love this restaurant! Always consistently amazing food
Consistently solid performance - excellent menu, imaginative choices, well prepared and delicious. Fine and prompt service.
Il capriccio continues to be my favorite restaurant in Boston. Even though it is not in Boston. The menu changes monthly and there are too many items that you were I want to try. This time we tried the grilled octopus and stuffed calamari. It may be my new favorite dish. The presentation is beautiful only topped by the flavors. The grilled octopus has a little spice which is perfect for my family. We tasted the appitizer portion of pasta carbonara which was topped with a poached egg. It was better than the versions we tasted in Italy. We loved it. We had the chicken, scallops and duck. Each one delish! What make this restaurant different from others is the fact that it has had consistent staff and ownership. The servers have been there for years and the chef owner is In The kitchen every night making sure the quality of the product does not go down... just up. If you want a guaranteed, hassle free evening... to impress even the biggest foodie... you can not go wrong at Il Capriccio. You never know which famous Boston celebrity you may see here. I can’t wait for my next visit.
When I booked this reservation, I told them it was our anniversary and we would like a nice table. When we got there, we were seated in a back room with no atmosphere next to a table of people who looked liked they were out for a corporate meeting meal. I told the greeter that the seat was unacceptable and we wanted something else. We were then given a nice seat in the front of the restaurant. Why did this not happen immediately? We told them it was an anniversary and we wanted a nice table!
Food and service were excellent. We were led to a table for two that was very close to a group of four men. Since this was a "date" for us, we asked to be moved to a quieter, more private table and we were accommodated.
