Always a pleasant experience. Good, wine, and staff all great. Wish they had a full-time sommelier to help us work through the extensive wine list. Nevertheless, the server did a decent job. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back.
Great food, well-presented. Excellent service.
The food is consistently great and the service is excellent. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. We’ve eaten here many times and never have had a bad dish or subpar meal. Highly recommended.
The mushroom souffle was outstanding a wonderful dish to share and start the meal. The restaurant was very accomodating and made my gnocchi dish without meat and it was simply delicious. Plan to go again soon!
I have had excellent meals at Il Capriccio in the past. This meal was pretty ordinary. The Fettaccini Bolognaise was not terribly interesting, the salad also not well dressed, and ordinary. Desert was better, but didn't make up for the rest of the meal.
Great time with great food for a quiet dinner for two. Staff was attentive but never overbearing.
Excellent place to go for a good/special occasion.
Wonderful food - whatever you order.
As always, wonderful. Attentive and gracious staff.
I enjoyed the dinner very much. We had a party of six but the service was excellent as was the food. My only complaint was that the gratuity of 20% was automatically added to the bill (their policy for larger parties which we were informed of after the meal). Although I would have left the 20% anyway I feel it is presumptuous to automatically charge it to the bill ( suppose it was a terrible meal or service?). Despite this policy , it was a very nice night and I would return!
Good food, good service, moderate noise level. Old favorite remains good as ever.
An intimate and cozy atmosphere with attentive service. Delicious food. We enjoyed the evening and we look forward to returning.
Food choices were excellent along with service. Great for special occasions!
Amazing in every way
We are from New York City and would rate Il Capriccio with some of the best overall.
Overall we had a very good experience. The noise level was louder than I expected but not so loud that you can't talk. The charcuterie appetizer was delicious as was the baked Alaska!
Have eaten here many times. Food is delicious. Service (our server was Linda) was excellent. The only issue is that the tables are close together and it can be noisy. Even with that, conversation was not difficult.
In addition, we recently had a family birthday party in the downstairs room which was a big success. Everyone we dealt with was very helpful with the details and it went very smoothly.
As always, food was absolutely delicious. Portion size is great, and presentation is beautiful. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. We have been coming here for years and are never disappointed.
Excellent food as usual!! Best restaurant around!!
We haven't been to Il Capriccio in a very long time and were very happy with our recent experience. The quality of the food was very good and the service was gracious and unobtrusive. The only comment is that the Waltham tap water must have a high chemical content. It struck a jarring note with the otherwise excellent food. We didn't think to ask and weren't offered bottled water. We normally don't purchase bottled water, but would have at Il Capriccio if it is available. Alternatively, the restaurant could filter its own water that it serves to diners. We intend to include Il Capriccio in our rotation of restaurants in the future.
Il Capriccio never disappoints. The food is excellently presented. It is creative without being 'strange' and the ambiance is the best. One can actually carry on a real conversation, and be heard, at this long-time gem in Waltham.
We love be this place. Always perfect. The vibe is particularly lively.
Whenever we are in Waltham, we try to get to Il Capriccio. The food is always fantastic.
There is a reason that Il Capriccio has been in business for as many years as it has: consistency. Rich Barron and his team do not chase the latest trends but instead deliver a quality product cooked perfectly. This is not to say that the menu lacks innovation or that are are never new dishes, but they are always within the mainstream and enough old favorites remain so that you can be sure to find something to enjoy. The wine list, leaning heavily Italian, is outstanding and contains many gems, with plenty of affordable choices sprinkled in with the many super-expensive bottles. My wife and I have been going to Il Capriccio since Enzo Danesi opened it on Prospect Street and I don't think we have ever been disappointed.
We ordered a flour dusted grey sole that was outstanding, as was the cauliflower soup appetizer.
Amazing food and service!
This is my favorite restaurant. The food and service are outstanding. We had a table for 7 - our server let us have time to chat and share multiple appetizers at our own pace. You can't ask for a better meal either inside or outside of Boston.
As always, Il Capriccio's fantastic fare was amazing. No one does seafood better than IC. The octopus with the chickpea puree was delicious the Grey Sole is not to be missed. Will be back again-and soon! I have a birthday coming up:-)
I went with my wife and son. We were greeted warmly - and that was just the start. The wine selections were very good, the appetizer unique and delicious. Main courses were extremely well done and showed imagination and polish. Desert was sinful.
I’m going back!
Everything was outstanding— excellent service by Susan and exceptionally delicious food.
This restaurant never disappoints!
Creative and authentic Italian food!
Ok Capriccio is one of my very favorite restaurants. The food is excellent as is the service. Yes a bit pricey but it is worth spending the money knowing that it will be a totally delicious rxperience
I've eaten at Il Capriccio numerous times over its long reign as one of the best Italian restaurants in the western suburbs. My latest experience (and that of three dining companions) was remarkably disappointing. As an example, the octopus had a soggy texture and the accompanying sauce was heavily overspiced (and inappropriate as an accompaniment for ocotopus). Octopus has been a current fad ingredient at upscale Italian restaurants and Il Capriciio could learn how to handle octopus properly from Toscano. The gnocchi was bland, the canneloni adequate but nothing special. The service was subpar, but excusable for a Saturday night. Surprisingly there was no question raised by the staff when both my dishes were left half eaten.
Either Il Capriccio was having a bad night or the restaurant ain't what it used to be.
Addendum: In response to the above review, the restaurant called me and left a sarcastic message, telling me to take my business elsewhere.
Good service good food good experience
We had a fantastic meal at Il Capriccio. The food was off the charts delicious and the service was as well. We all had pasta dishes that were authentic Northern Italian. The wine list was lengthy and had many reasonably priced and fantastic wines. I was incredibly impressed all around. We eat out often and I would put it on the top of my list as a favorite!
Great service. Very personalized. Good menu choices .
Celebrated a friend’s special birthday. Everyone from the owner, Richie, to the bartender, Dana, were wonderful. The food was spectacular-the tuna tartare was delicious, loved the addition of the avocado. The porcini appetizer was superb, and the Bolognese was outstanding. An A-plus experience.
Always leave happy and well fed!
I have been hoping to try this restaurant for months after reading about it on a list of "places worth leaving Boston for." I was so excited and made a reservation to visit for my 9th anniversary. My fiance and I were so disappointed. The food was mediocre at best and expensive. We started with a raw fish appetizer and the fish was chopped so small and mixed with guacamole so that you could barely taste the fish. We shared three pasta dishes that were bland. I would say skip it. There are so many better, cheaper options.
Interesting menu, great food and efficient service.
Excellent restaurant. Outstanding food and incredible service!!!!
This is, in my opinion, the best Italian restaurant in the Boston area bar none. Not only is the food beautifully presented and prepared to, but the wine list offers value and inspiration. Given the quality hopefully food, wine and service, in the value one receives, the price is more than reasonable.
