Some of the best Pizza I’ve ever had
Great Italian restaurant with great pizza! The service was excellent, our waiter was attentive and then we had at least 2 other managers come by to ask us how we were doing. We weren't super impressed with the specialty cocktails, but the food was good with portion options for 1 or more (family style). I would definitely eat here again.
The food tasted just like it does in Italy and service was great! Would go back in a second!
Our food was great! I have a gluten allergy so it was really nice to see clear gluten free options on the menu. Between the four of us we had pizzas, pastas and appetizers. It was all great. It was VERY loud and the seating was kind of tight but generally really good.
We eat here every few months and it is always delicious. The pizza is Is heavenly and service wonderful. The staff is very good at remembering us and always goes the extra mile to welcome us. I highly recommend.
As always the place was amazing. Definitely the best pizzas in DC.
Table was noisy (despite asking for quiet table); food was ok, but nothing to write home about; food was surprisingly pricey, given what we ordered; our waiter could not communicate well in English (a little surprising). Bottom line: restaurant is overrated, IMHO.
Our waiter Bruno was awesome and fun!! Food was great and we really enjoyed the evening
This was one of the most authentic Italian meals I've had outside of Italy itself. The food was fantastic. We had a number of different appetizers including calamari, fried fresh mozzarella, and bruschetta. We also tried the pizza which was entirely authentic.
Excellent food. We went there on a suggestion from the hotel concierge where we were staying. My wife had the lobster ravioli and she loved it. I had a pizza marguerite that was also very good.
The food was excellent, our server, Luna, was awesome, and the owner checked on our table multiple times. Great experience and will definitely go again.
Amazing, the pizza is the best ever.
One of my friends recommended Il Canale for its authentic pizza, which he told me was favored by the Italian embassy itself. For good reason! The pizza was amazing, and the gnocchi was fresh. It is extremely crowded on weekends, so it would be best to make a reservation, even if it's just one or two people. There is very little room to sit, so you'd want to get a table asap. The restaurant is very big and has a bar area and then a larger dining room. It's just off the more popular areas in Georgetown, and an easy walk.
Some of the best Italian food in DC. Plus, portions are large. No one leaves hungry.
My go-to place in DC for a casual, fun lunch or dinner.
Delicious food and great service
The food was great!
Authentic pizza (delicious, too!), but the foccacia was lacking--it felt more like pizza dough with spices rather than a genuine foccacia. The cannoli was pleasant, but is far too small to justify its price. It's a nice touch that the maitre d' spoke Italian, but I'm more interested in the food.
Good restaurant, nice tables outside.
Food was delicious! We ate at the bar and Yemerk (hopefully I wrote name correctly) provided outstanding service!
It’s good Italian food. But with the caveat it’s good for DC and the price point. So in a word...mediocre.
Outstanding food and service. Pizza tasted fresh and service was on point. A gem in Georgetown.
Had 8:45pm reservation. Did not get seated till 9:10pm. Otherwise good.
Mateo made us feel like we were dining in his home. Excellent food and value. We will definitely return next time we are in town.
This restaurant was very good. I made my reservation on open table and they put us in a great spot! It's a good thing we made a reservation as this place was hopping!! Lot's of people waiting for a table. This was my daughters birthday and I mentioned it in my reservation and they came out with a cannoli with a candle singing happy birthday! Very nice touch.
The pizza (La Regina) and cannoli's were fantastic. I found the cannelloni to be too heavy on the cheese and the ricotta dry. A couple people in our party ordered the carbonara and thought the pasta itself was delicious but were not sold on the crispy parmesan bowl in which it was served. Overall, good food. The cannoli's were really great though and reminded me a lot of the ones we got in the Mercato in Florence.
Not good for vegetarians, and much missing from menu. Good for families with young kids.
Always fantastic.with beautiful spring weather today, nothing beats Il Canale in 32st in Georgetown.
Solid Italian fare in well located Georgetown spot. Gluten free options for pizza and pasta.
My only complaint is that we had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time. Otherwise, the service was wonderful once we were seated and the food was excellent.
The food was amazing and so was the service. Great place and would highly recommend this restaurant.
We ran late for our reservation time so we called on the way and we're told not a problem. Once we arrived we were seated promptly. Our service was attentive and our service was great. The food was amazing as usual, everything we have tried has been authentic and wonderful. We we're also checked on by management and they we're very kind and warm. For our second visit it was every bit as good as the first and we will be back for many more great date nights.
Saturday at 7:15- the place was super-crowded but they took us right to our table. Definitely important to make a reservation! Food was great and the service was fantastic!
Food was great, authentic Italian beverages available, and service was incredibly hospitable. Would recommend the calamari and la Italia pizza!
Visiting Georgetown. We were seated between a group of about 15 teenage girls. We couldn’t even have a conversation with each other. We were in and out within 30 minutes. Disappointed we couldn’t enjoy a nice Saturday night and needless to say our date was ruined.
Nice experience, fast service for a crowded Friday night in Georgetown. The pizza was flavorful, had good options.
Setting was great, warm evening outside. Food was mediocre. Caprese salad had flavorless tomatoes, and way overpriced. Pizza nothing to write home about. Mushroom chicken was thrown together with what tasted like soup as a sauce. Frozen fries were okay.
Just not what I expected for $90 (including a few drinks). Probably won’t go back
I actually showed up a few minutes late, and asked to add a couple people to the reservation. Staff was very accommodating. My girlfriend and i shared the vegeteriana rossa pizza and the scialaitelli al frutti di mare. Everything was good.
Didn’t have to wait. Huge space. Great service. Recommendations (food and wine) from our server were on point! Great experience.
Splendid was the evening at Canale. I had a very authentic and tasty lentil soup to start. My date and I shared the tomato caprese. Two glasses of Sangiovese red wine prior to two fantastic entrees. I had the lobster stuffed ravioli and my date fettucine pasta in a light red sauce seasoned with mussels, baby clams and shrimp. Dessert was an Italian favorite cannoli and espresso. Bruno the waiter made it all happen and was knowledgeable, courteous and genuine Italian.
Carbonara was pretty weak
