Not impressed. The pizza was soggy and the Branzino was overcooked. Should have tried the routine Italian dishes. Great gluten-free options.

Bruno our waiter was tremendous. Chef was accommodating to add calamata olives and anchovies to a pomodoro sauce but was charged $4.00 extra. A bit of nickel dime. Sauce was great though.

My wife and I discovered Il Canale a few years ago while walking around DC. Whenever we're in the city, we make a point to stop by, even if it's just for a snack. Great food and very friendly staff.

You lack a bit of this Italian antipasti touch. Little small things to up tour taste when tou sit down. Work on it. Then we will come.

We where greeted at the door and taken to a table immediately. There was always service but it wasn’t annoying and they weren’t butting into the conversations to try and take our order, they seen a lull in the conversation and they came in. The food was well made but weren’t waiting forever for it, I had margarita pizza, she had the same but with prosciutto. The servings were plenty but it wasn’t overboard just enough for one person. The restaurant wasn’t too loud mostly just other people have their conversations nothing they could control, but the restaurant was nice, it was formal but still relaxed. Over all it was a good experience and I would go back if given the chance!

This restaurant was packed on a Thursday night with families, couples, and folks of all ages. The food was delicious, and reasonably priced. The wait staff was stellar. Menu has pizza, which looked like a popular choice, but also many pasta dishes and other mostly Italian entrees. Great choice in Georgetown.

Unbelievably loud and mediocre service. All of our dishes (appetizers and pizza) came at the same time, after a long wait. Not everything would fit on the table, so we had to dump our salads awkwardly onto small plates while the pizza got cold. Pizza is pretty good, but not worth listening to 50 people shouting to be heard.

We had an amazing experience! Our server was super friendly and we received exceptional service. We both ordered pizza and it was definitely the best pizza we have ever had!

We should perhaps not be so visible with our glowing review -- we are local to Il Canale and try to get over to it as often as we can, so advertising just how great it is might spoil it for us ;-). Here's our thing: Pick a nice evening when one can sit outside, and if it is a highly active GTown evening (like a Saturday), you can get the great food and service, and be totally entertained by the people watching. Of course, the Margherita (sauce, mozzarella, and basil) is always the true test and it never disappoints. So many other great choices as well -- basically there is nothing on the menu that is not wonderful.

I relied on Il Canali twice in the last couple of weeks for special family dinners with discerning attendees from out of town. It did not disappoint. Every entree was superb, and the salads some of the freshest and creatively composed I have had recently. The host was especially warm and welcoming, and Aldo, our waiter, was helpful in making cuisine selections, vibrant in his descriptions, responsive to our every demand, especially astute in the wine selection, and clever in his repartee with two former waitresses. Without question we would request his fine services again. All in all, it was a fine evening.

I'd been to llCanale before, which have been great, always good food and fun. Went along to this one with some family friends, to celebrate a birthday. The place had a buzzing atmosphere and busy, probbably what you'd expect from a Friday night.
The food was perfect, modest portions and speedy service which always makes for a better evening.All 6 of us had 3 courses and were very impressed, will definitely be going again.

The food was great! The one thing they need to fix is the outdoor seating. The tables are cheap metal tables and the seats are extremely uncomfortable. The waiter we had was great though

We're from Ohio and upon our arrival to DC we asked quite a few people about places to eat. Everyone suggested Il Canale! The authentic Neapolitan pizza was delicious...thin in the middle with a thicker crust, prepared with fresh ingredients. We ordered a bottle of Piegaia Chianti based on a recommendation from our server and it was good to the last drop!

The food here is AMAZING!!! The lasagna and the gnocci where the best we had ever had - anywhere!

This food is outstanding. The pasta is delicious. I highly recommend the lasagna and the gnocchi . It's also very reasonably priced.

This restaurant was very crowded, thank god we had reservations but even so the tables were very close together and cramped. I am from NY where pizza is king, I thought the tomato sauce was one of the best I have tried but unfortunately the pizza was far from it. The crust on the edges was good and crispy but the middle was soggy and hard to eat.

I picked this restaurant because of its gluten free options for a family member that was visiting, but was pleasantly surprised to find their food was actually really good in general. The waitress was attentive once we sat down but my only complaint is that there was a hectic bottle neck when checking in with a lot of frustrated people, all with reservations. There was only one guy helping everyone and he also needed to take phone calls, but finally another guy stepped in to help. I almost wanted to leave, but I’m glad we waited, and the wait wasn’t very long.

It was very packed when we first got there. Extremely loud. We almost couldn’t get through the door to the host stand. But they’re extremely efficient. Even though we were early, they still accommodated us. We didn’t wait long for food or drinks. I think the service only suffered bc of how busy they are. The food was great though.

The service and the food was very good. I loved the hustle and the vibe. It was a great experience. I will be back.

Our hotel recommended we go to Il Canale for authentic Italian food. We were definitely not disappointed and happy we took their word for it. Everything we had was delicious. Our servers were very friendly and the location was easy to get to.

Dined with 2 teenage boys after a strenuous day touristing. Server was totally on point, pizza was fabulous and it ticked long like the well run machine it obviously is. Making reservations rather than just walking in was incredibly helpful.

Unbelievable pizza!!
