Excellent food and service!
Visiting from out of town, and we wanted to dine in Georgetown! Our food was wonderful! We did have a waiter that was very friendly and kind, but mis ordered our salad after we corrected him! They were wonderful in correcting the mistake! We had a wonderful dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the food!
Great experience, waiter was fast and everything came out delicious! Wish there hadn’t been a wait once we got there.
Still the best Neapolitan pizza outside of Naples. After living in Naples for 12 years, this place is a touch of home,
Plus, the cannoli are fantastic.
Went here for the first time with two friends for dinner Saturday evening. I wish we lived in the area and could go regularly! Awesome food at fairly reasonable prices. Lobster ravioli, eggplant parm and lasagna were what we had and nothing was leftover. The Ceasar salad could use a more flavorful dressing. Service was excellent and entertaining and the place was packed so that shows how attentive Bruno was. Definitely recommend a reservation though because we walked right in but there was a 45 minute and up wait at 6:00pm.
Delicious pizza and beer. The best pizza DC has which makes it worth the cost. The server didn’t tell us there was a charge of $4 for 2 small sides of pizza sauce. It would have been nice to know there was a charge and we asked for 1 but he brought 2. Sigh lost in translation I guess. Other than that the restaurant was nice inside and not too loud. Good for groups and families. Beware of additional undisclosed costs.
Best pizza in DC. Period.
Amazing service and awesome food, my favorite place to eat in Georgetown.
I love Il Canale’s pizza!! Their Margherita is my favorite in DC. Service has been great every time I’ve visited. Evenings seem to be particularly busy, so you’ll need a reservation, but lunch had plenty open spots.
Great food, friendly service, delicious (and very big) calzone.
Terrible and I mean terrible food . Incredibly high priced . Go any where but here . Complete waste of a ton of money
Definitely need a reservation. Packed. Tables too close to each other.
This was a horrible experience from the start, we reserved a table for 7 PM and walked out at 7:30 when nobody had addressed us. We had checked in and asked the manager what the situation wise call no avail.
Birthday dinner for a group of 7. Staff very friendly, food was delicious and service was fast. Would definitely go back.
Food was great. Prices are a little steep but it’s Georgetown so that’s to be expected. We were seated upstairs where there is really no atmosphere. If you go, try to get a seat downstairs.
Host did not keep our name on the list and we were past over numerous times despite having a reservation.
Best pizza in DC! Delicious food, prompt and attentive service. Will definitely be back!
Italian Tradition, Sunday late lunch/dinner family date. Been several times and always very good food and service. The pizza stand out, other food is ok too. Service very attentive, most of the staff speaks italian. Great place for people watching, diverse international crowd. Our go to place when in Georgetown area.
We love this restaurant which is why it is like the 7th time. Service is so friendly and authentic and also the food is delicious (some of my favorite pizza). bookers should know they are loose on precision or reservations, but it is a fun and lively wait list.
Best Italian restaurant in DC! Especially good service last Saturday night.
The noise level was ridiculously loud upstairs. It was impossible to carry on a conversation with anyone at our small table of four. I will not return because of this.
It was so noisy we couldn’t carry on a conversation
Pizza crust was wet and soggy good
Branzino was good
Great food and our waiter Aldo was amazing!
Great meal and service.
I especially enjoyed the pizza made in a wood fired oven. The wood make a big difference.
I have been to Il Canale every weekend for 5 weeks.
Food varies more than expected.
Like the place, but I value consistency. Thanks
I think our server name was Eugenia and she was fabulous on a very busy night too...
The food was great, but service was just not present. Aside from waiting for drinks.. We ended up eating our whole meal off side plates as main course plates never showed up when the family style serving plates came to the table.
Host was great. Pizza phenom
We booked through OT and the restaurant dis not honor our reservation time. Had to wait 40 minutes to be seated. Host asked the annoying question of “are you all here?” And promised to sit us in 5 to 10 min. He had no control over sitting orders. Another guy was in charged of it and seemed to care little for the people with reservations. Not a good experience.
The night, however, was saved by our server, Aldo, short for Romualdo, a very attentive and courteous person, who made everything possible for us to feel welcomed and comfortable.
The food was good, and worthwhile.
So, if you come to Il Canale, be ready for a long wait even if you have a reservation.
There are three other Italian restaurants on the same block, so need to wait like we did.
We do love this restaurant, but it is incredibly noisy! Very chaotic, but they do their best to seat you...excellent food!
Really good Italian food with many options including gluten free pasta and pizza. The decor was more casual than I thought it should be. It was more pizza parlor than romantic italian. But overall it was terrific.
Birthday and Valentine’s Day
Really good food! Enjoyed it.
Food was amazing as always and they did a good job getting us seated even though it was Valentine’s Day. Service was prompt and friendly as well. The only thing I would change is that the table was very very wobbly and a bit of our wine spilled because of it. I also wasn’t sure how I felt about the paper placemats. The dishes kept getting stuck to them. Overall, the pasta and calamari were very tasty as were the bottle of wine and cannolis. Will definitely be coming back for some pizza.
Very intimate place! We got there a little early but was seated right away! The food was super fresh and tasted authentic from when I lived in Italy as a child! Everything was flavorful, our waitress was absolutely wonderful.
The food is delicious and the wine selection is excellent! We loved seeing the beautifully painted Fiat 600!
They serve what is essentially bologna pizza. Salad was "meh." Croquettes were dry. Restaurant was overbooked when we arrived. Service was good, but overall not sure how this place is so busy.
One of the best pizzas in D.C. Perfect crust, excellent topping level, gooey and delicious. Plus they have bresaola, which is my indication of an excellent Italian place! Good service although a bit slow at times. Gets really loud after 7 pm, so if you want quiet go before then. Will definitely go back again in a heartbeat!
Gnocchi was light and yummy! Pizza crust was amazing!
