Italian
Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria is a market, salumeria, bakery and restaurant dedicated to quality products.

This "simple convivial spot that tastes just like Italy" feels like a "village inside-a-restaurant". While the Alimentari sells house made salumi, freshly baked bread and an ample assortment of imported and domestic items, the open kitchen looks out onto a rustic dining room with communal tables and long marble wine bar. A seasonal menu by Executive Chef Garrison Price features salumi/cheese boards, small sharing plates, fresh pastas and roasted meats and fish from a rotisserie and wood burning oven. The upstairs private dining loft, adjacent to the roof garden and overlooking the main restaurant and market, is available for parties up to 50 people for cocktails and/or a seated dinner. Whole fish under sea salt and roasted short ribs or porchetta are house staples often served family style as are house made gelato tastings.

Bad experience overall. Had not been back for several years -but going back was duh a disappointment.
1. Ordered a giant shrimp pasta dish. There was only one shrimp cut into small pieces to look more. Never seen anything like this before. Explanation was that it was supposed to be a crab - clam based dish, Sunday evening they ran out of it and replaced with shrimp. And they did not have many shrimps either. But the menu read “giant shrimp” and it was not pointed out to us when we ordered. They did remove it from the check in the end. After i complained.
2. Very Awkward service. The waiter was either stressed or angry or something between. The waiter aid was apparently told to fill up the glasses with water. Literally they had very small glasses and each time we had a sip of water he ran to refill them. We avoided drinking so that we don’t have him all over us all the time.
3. Crowd overly pretentious. More pretentious vivre ever seen.

Ordered the chicken and it was raw. We told the waiter who apologized and took it away. Then came back and said it would be taken of the check but that they didn’t have more chicken to make the dish again. The waiter didn’t offer us any replacement and quickly left leaving my husband with no dinner.

The restaurant is good but it’s not the “real”Buco. I though I was booking for the fancy restaurant for an anniversary date. I did my research online and saw cool pictures of Il Buco, so I was looking forward to it. When I arrived they told us the reservation was for “Il Buco Alimentaria y Vinatería”, a completely different restaurant, that’s much less fancy or comfortable.

We were a little late so we had to rush to make our concert nearby. The waiter really tried to get our food out quickly. The artichoke appetizer as well as the assorted meats were enjoyed. The pasta dishes, though small, were very good. I enjoyed the roasted chicken. It was quite pricey at $90 per person and quite noisy. I’m not a fan of the communal table. It just feels awkward. Otherwise a good meal.

Dining out is always more enjoyable when your server gives the impression he enjoys his work, is glad you are there and is happy to serve you. On two separate occasions recently my servers at Il Buco gave the opposite impression. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our meals in spite of the indifferent, bordering on surly, waiters.

food was outstanding. the artichoke appetizer was insane, as well as the shrimp and black rice. Would go back for those alone. Extensive wine list, a bit pricey, but found a nice Sicilian red that wasn't crazy. They are happy to assist with choosing a wine. Look forward to returning.

There were three of us dining after an event at Cooper and we had a combination of starters, salads, meats and one main dish--the roast chicken. Everything was great. The meat platter excellent. The roast chicken unusually good. And wine by the glass and beer. All-in-all a thoroughly enjoyable and very tasty event.

Fantastic food, with awesome Sicilian specialties. Salt encrusted fish was outstanding as were the homemade pastas. Our second visit among many more to come.

Too noisy and cold. Appetizers disappointing. Wine by the glass way overpriced for the quality of the wine.
Pasta cacio e pepe was the only good part of the dinner.

Pastas are decent and have a good bite. Octopus appetizer was good. Chocolate torte was a delicious dessert (the fruit currant offset the rich chocolate very nicely). The pistachio shortcake was good, but it was more of a general fruit shortcake rather than a pistachio shortcake.

Very good food, definitely a place to go for special occasions and nice dates. Ambiance is very lively and loud. Food portions could’ve been a bigger for the price tag, but the food quality is very good. If you want an Italian spot with a big bowl of pasta, this is not the place to go.

singular dishes so plan well with your company so you can really focus in on flavors of each. Timing of food out of the kitchen excellent. Cocktails Very good as well. If you like fish you must order the branzino...

The food at Il Buco is always very good, often great. But our experience was marred by the fact that we had pretty unpleasant, and I would say, somewhat arrogant wait staff.

There's one reason I return to Il Buco Allimentari again and again: Everything. The service is warm but not palls-y friendly. The nicely dim, candlelit room. And the food--of course, the food. The artichokes are clean fried and crisp nuggets. The black rice and shrimp with an egg stirred in is crunchy and smooth, comforting and surprising. Even the green salad is tucked with surprises.

Everything was tasty. We started with Salumi for 2 and grilled octopus, then split terrific garganelli pasta with fresh tomatoes and chicken entree with a side of greens. Very solid, authentic Italian cuisine. There is an extra charge for bread, which was delicious and is made on site, and strangely, not included with the salumi platter. Service was friendly and very attentive.
