Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria
This "simple convivial spot that tastes just like Italy" feels like a "village inside-a-restaurant". While the Alimentari sells house made salumi, freshly baked bread and an ample assortment of imported and domestic items, the open kitchen looks out onto a rustic dining room with communal tables and long marble wine bar. A seasonal menu by Executive Chef Garrison Price features salumi/cheese boards, small sharing plates, fresh pastas and roasted meats and fish from a rotisserie and wood burning oven. The upstairs private dining loft, adjacent to the roof garden and overlooking the main restaurant and market, is available for parties up to 50 people for cocktails and/or a seated dinner. Whole fish under sea salt and roasted short ribs or porchetta are house staples often served family style as are house made gelato tastings.

Great salumi selection. Service was superb and there was a great wine selection. Rest of the food was tasty too, but the black pasta was a touch too tart. Really recommend this place.
Great service. Let them know through opentable beforehand that it was for a birthday. They got us a good table, and a nice birthday dessert w/candle. Would definitely go back.
There is a bait and switch when you book online. You will not be dining at the main restaurant but in what is more like a glorified deli.
We have two boys under three years old and the service from the team couldn’t have been any better. They were kind and accommodating!
Great food as always. I always look forward to eating at Il Buco.
My new obsession is their pasta with lamb ragu. The artichoke and squid appetizers were excellent.
Absolutely Delicious ! Pasta was cooked to al dentissima perfection, fried artichoke wedges were lemony and bright, full of crunch and soft heart flavor. Staff was gracious and attentive without being overbearing. The decor is casual but well considered. It is ALL about the taste
So very good, exceptional in fact. I can’t wait for our next visit.
We had 5 appetizers and 2 entrees for four of us. They were all terrific, and the service was very attentive.
I was kind of disappointed after reading so many good reviews. The portions were small for the price and my dish was so so salty. I ordered the fish of the day which I was told was trout but when it arrived it was salmon. I was fine with salmon but the sauce was so salty I could barely eat it. My husband ordered the house made sausage. Uninteresting and small. He also ordered a pasta dish which was small and not really tasty. Over all not a place I will return to even though the interior space is very cool and rustic just like you’re in Italy.
Service was excellent. Food was very good.
This is my fourth visit and Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria never disappoints
The food was terrific and the service person was very personable in her service and thoughtful in her food recommendations. I would only suggest that the short rib for four was a LOT of meat, even when ordering it at a reduced 3-person serving. All in all, delicious!
Loved the atmosphere. Community tables were funky but not a problem at all. Service was fantastic.
Fantastic staff. One of best Short Ribs ever! Riso Nero was out of this world.
Keith took great care of us at the bar for dinner on Christmas Eve. He is the Best; always enjoy visiting with him. The kitchen was backed-up and our meal slowed, however Keith kept things moving for us. He also kindly arranged for a Cheese course instead of the sweets for me which I greatly appreciated.
We had the Christmas Eve 6 course fish prix fix menu. Every course was wonderful and beautifully served. A special holiday treat.
We have eaten here many times. The food is outstanding. The help is great. The restaurant is noisy and it is best to come at an early hour.
Amazing food, impeccable service, just an all around great restaurant to be at
a go to place with an excellent menu, everything we tried was excellent. wine list diverse and also excellent. tables a little close, but, then again, it's the big apple.
The food was overall very tasty. The charcuterie board had bigger portions than expected which was great. The service was okay. The waitress was knowledgable but not super nice or friendly and seemed rushed. Her and the sommelier did a lot of upselling too unfortunately. Overall good, not great. But really nice atmosphere, especially on the second floor.
One of my favorites. Lucky to have in the NoHo neighborhood.
The food and service were amazing tonight
I went to Il Buco for my anniversary a few days ago and had a fantastic experience. The food was phenomenal but the service was what really set the experience apart. We were initially seated at a communal table but Michael (the Manager) immediately accommodated our request for a more private setting.
We ordered the artichokes Branzino and I forget the specific Pasta but everything was cooked to perfection. Huge compliments to the chef and the entire team at Il Buco. We will be back soon!
Not your typical Italian food, very creative and fantastic taste. Service excellent. Wine list extensive and pricey. Very noisy but overall a wonderful experience. John
One of the best restaurants in the city! The food and service never disappoint and the wine list is exceptional.
The food was good, but not wonderful like I expected. The wine we ordered was unavailable, so the sommelier recommended a red wine he said was comparable. (In fact, he gushed about how wonderful it was!) We all agreed that it was the worst wine we had ever been served. Maybe our pallets aren’t sophisticated enough, but we are all wine drinkers, and not one of the 4 of us enjoyed it. Overall a very lackluster experience.
Went here on a Saturday night. We were seated upstairs at a counter facing a cluster of large empty wine bottles. The wait staff had to speak to our shoulders which was awkward. And we were sat on really uncomfortable stools.
Amazing food and service...such a great dining experience . can't wait to go back!
Perfect food and service
Always fantastic ! One of my favorite restaurants 👍👍👍
This restaurant just keeps getting better. The team there really loves their work and knows their customers. The Cace e Pepe is amazing and a great starter to the Branzino.
a favorite of ours since it opened--love the new menu and am happy u kept the older standbys (branzino, short ribs)
IL Buco Almentari was recommended by a friend who is a sommelier. I took a good friend who was visiting from California for dinner. Somehow we ended up being seated at the chefs counter! This was one of the best meals I’ve had since moving to nyc in 2006! The incredible care taken by ALL the staff cannot be overstated. The food was perfection as was our server Maria D! I’m taking two local friends back this Saturday for brunch. This is my new favorite.
Disappointing experience. The restaurant had run out of its signature chicken, although we might have been able to get the last order had our server not been on break when we arrived. The sausage and egg sandwich was a tiny round of mediocre meat, a small egg and a huge amount of bread. We also ordered a salad because our server failed to inform us that the sausage was accompanied by a big pile of greens. Our mushroom pasta was a modified version of what had been on the menu and was clearly an on-the-fly adaptation to another ingredient shortage. Rather than being earthy and bright, ours was blandly creamy and sweet. To be fair, the $18 salad was a pretty plate of greens and reds, although over-salted and a touch too bitter, it was tastier than anything else we had. But there was no reason to order anything else, and we certainly won’t return.
Fantastic food and cocktails! The service was great as well. Can't wait to go back.
Wonderful meal from appetizers(charred artichokes, yellow tail carpaccio), main courses (black squid ink pasta with crab amazingly flavorful and light-well worth the carbs, and trout- thick cut, great fresh taste with charred leeks were so complimentary), to the dessert- affogato. Oh- how could I have forgotten the bread basket with olive oil and rock salt!
Great service great food as always
Fantastic food with warm rustic atmosphere.
One of my favorite restaurants in manhattan. The food is so consistently outstanding !
