IL BISTRO Ratings and Reviews
Food and service were wonderful. We split eggplant Parmesan, Salmon (melt in your mouth perfect), Rigatoni Bolognese and a fabulous Chianti recommended by their sommelier. Even the bread and butter were wonderfully delicious and delightful. This is a gem I need to return to more often!
We've lived in Seattle for many years and have not been to Il Bistro until last Friday evening. We are sorry we haven't been before. It's excellent. The service is top notch. Attentive and not fussy. The food is delicious -- we ordered the special risotto and fish. The serving size is ample and both dishes were executed beautifully. We also appreciate the well-chosen Italian wine list. AND we arrive early so had a drink at the bar -- after watching for a brief period, we understood that the bartender is skilled and a delight to watch in action. We recommend Il Bistro for a drink/dine in the bar, or a lovely, romantic dinner. We are so happy to have Il Bistro in the Market in Seattle !!
Date night (pre-Symphony dinner). The food is incredible! The Lasagna is the most amazing I've ever tasted. The staff is great (attentive and courteous). The ambiance is wonderful. Very classic Italian feel.
We will definitely revisit
Il Bistro is a wonderful old favorite. Their staff is incredibly knowledgeable and was eager to make our night special. An excellent domestic AND Italian wine selection pairs well with a menu that is just the right size - if it's on the menu, it's delicious.
We made reservations for 2 and decided to walk to the restaurant. Got lost, called the restaurant, and told Chris, the matre'd, our situation. He asked our location and we told him. His response, "wait there, I'll come and get you." And he did. When we return to Seattle, we'll return to il Bistro. We have a great meal, and a relaxing evening. See you next year Chris!
Went for my dad's birthday on a Sunday at 5:30. Very quiet, hardly anyone else around. The staff were attentive and gracious. Good food, pasta seemed fresh. I was a little surprised that they did not offer a small dessert for the birthday boy, but we were pretty full anyway. There were 4 adults and a child; we got 2 salads to share and then each adult got their own entree and the kid shared. Plenty of food. Most of us finished our meals, my mom took her pasta home as leftover.
One of Seattle's classiest restaurants. Servers who know what they're doing without an "I'm so cool attitude." Perfect pacing. Quiet, but not hushed. The Caesar was perfectly dressed; the salmon perfectly cooked. Couldn't have been happier with my birthday dinner!
We have enjoyed dining at Il Bistro for many years. Last Sunday we brought a friend from London to show him a good Seattle restaurant. We arrived for our 7pm reservation and were told there would be a few minutes wait so we found a table in the bar. We waited quite awhile before someone took our drink order then continued to wait for our drinks, much longer than was necessary. We eventually were seated then our drinks arrived. After ordering, we waited about 1/2 hour for our salads then another 15 min for our entrees. I believe we were eating about 8:15 for a 7:00 reservation. We were very embarrassed at how poor the service was. The food was delicious, as we expected. My husband and I were surprised and put off by the maitre d's appearance: long pony tail and white jeans; not professional at all. This just wasn't what we expect from Il Bistro and hope Sunday was a fluke.
Perfect place to celebrate my birthday! Lamb was over the top! Cioppino was a hit with my family. I would've ordered that if they'd substitute fish for clams and muscles. I'd even pay an upcharge but all they offered was to omit but not replace. Otherwise I'd give all 5 stars!!
Il Bistro does not need a gimmick or a 200 foot TV in the bar. Il Bistro is a iconic Seattle landmark. This cozy restaurant is tucked away in the Public Market. If you want food prepared by an incredibly talented chef and service I have consistently found to be impeccable - look no further.
The food was very good except for the seafood linguine which had way too much red pepper so that the flavors of the tender seafood were lost. Service was excellent and the ambiance is quite nice especially on a rainy night. The restaurant is cozy.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner at this beautiful, romantic Italian spot. Waitstaff is top-notch professional yet intimately friendly. The food was carefully treated to highlight local ingredients. Highly recommend the lobster tortellini special as it richly flavor yet not too heavy to have a pleasant after dinner walk in the market.
I made an inquiry about the wine selection to the manager who sat us at our table for two. He mentioned he would send the wine steward over to address our request. He was very knowledgeable and made a couple great recommendations in different price points. Dinner was fabulous, we shared a creamy risotto as an appetizer and then roasted vegetables and lamb for dinner finished with gelato and biscotti for dessert. It was a great date night!
Our service was bad. My husband's drink was forgotten, and then he was brought the wrong entree. We were looking forward to trying this restaurant as I have heard good things. This was a disappointment.
The food was decent, but not worth it for the price point.
I was very disappointed with my experience at IL Bistro. There were 6 people in my party celebrating a milestone birthday. Our waiter wasn't knowledgeable about the dishes offered, he spoke so quietly that none of us could hear him and he was not attentive. We ordered wine and it took 25 minutes for it to arrive after one person in the party talked to the manager. One dish was served cold, two dishes were dry, two dishes were not as described by the waiter and one dish was acceptable. I don't have a desire to return.
