IL BISTRO Ratings and Reviews
Very limited vegetarian options. They brought our bread to the table after our first appetizer was served. Service was functional, or as my 13 year old daughter said, ‘the server seemed passive aggressive!’
We could not here the other side of our five person table talk.
The bruschetta and gnocchi that we ordered was just ok. The drinks and the salad were good. Desserts were good to. Don’t see myself going back anytime soon.
I have been to Il Bistro 3-4 times now and have always been satisfied. I only have positive comments... the location is convenient, the food, service, and ambiance are consistently great! My favorites are the carpaccio and lasagna, and I rave about the risotto special each time I go (they change it up but it has always been SO yummy!). Definitely a must for me when I am in town.
My boyfriend and I have been to Il Bistro on more than one occasion whether it’s HH or celebrating Valentine’s before the ballet as we did this past Saturday. The food is exceptional and the staff more than welcoming. One of our favorite things about dining out is going back to a place we’ve been and having one or more of the staff remembering us.
I always tell people about our experiences there and would highly recommend Il Bistro for any occasion.
Classic setting for great Italian cuisine. I had an amazingly fresh antipasto and cioppino. Others dining with me had sauteed calamari which was excellent and lasagna that was tasty, but not served warmed enough. Our server provided exceptional service, attentive and efficient.
From the guy who answered the phone to give us directions, to the fantastic waitress who cared for us all evening - Il Bistro is a fabulous experience from beginning to end. This was our first (and not last) visit. We brought our friend to celebrate her birthday and they made us ALL feel special. OH! And the FOOD!!! SO DELICIOUS!!!! Thanks, Il Bistro!
The ambiance of the restaurant was great. Service was good, but had to wait a decent amount of time for our entrees. Appetizers were out soon after ordering. The calamari was different, yet delicious. The entrees were ok, not horrible but definitely not authentic.
We had not been to Il Bistro in a couple of years. We arrived early and sat in the bar to enjoy a glass of wine. We prefer the ambiance of the bar over the restaurant - which is also very nice. We met our waitress Sophia- so friendly and welcoming! We requested that we stay for dinner in the bar area. Food was tasty, plentiful and well- priced. Service and atmosphere were great! Our only complaint is that the food was not as hot as we would have liked. However, we can’t wait to return!
A disappointing 3 out of 5 rating, as I had high hopes for this place (based on the reviews). But quite honestly, the Il Bistro experience was “meh” for us. The ambiance is wonderful once you walk in, alluding to an amazing experience, adding to it the host up front was fantastic. But it came to a screeching halt there. We should have just gone to the bar.
My girlfriend and I were tucked at the far back of the restaurant (not a big deal at all), but it’s in an alcove where it’s noisy (music speakers are aimed in our direction above, and volume was loud). Then the air vents above kept our area so chilly, she had to have her coat on the whole time.
Hot tip: This place is better for parties of 4 or more, where you get seated in the nicer part of the restaurant.
And we always seem to have the luck of getting awkward servers, to the point where it’s an inside joke, and Il Bistro did not disappoint. Again, I guess I expected more, or at least someone more affable and socially on point. And the food? Tasty, but underwhelming, this meal could be purchased just about anywhere.
In short, we will never go back. Unless it’s just to grab a quick drink before a show.
The lighting is so dim we couldn't read the menu.
The restaurant lacks atmosphere and the food was bland and overpriced. I ordered the daily risotto which was mushroom. It was served suspiciously fast (so not made fresh), was luke warm and with very large, uncut mushroom pieces. It was bland. The best selling Bolognese was stodgy and uninspiring.
Our $42 bottle of wine was most disappointing - it wouldn't compete with Trader Joe's $2.99 Charles Shaw.
Overall, a very disappointing visit to a restaurant we've been to a couple of times before.
We won't be back
We were running a bit late for a show after dinner and our server was very helpful getting us out on time but also not making us feel rushed through salad and our entrees. This is our second visit to Il Bistro, and both times the food was delicious and the service impeccable.
We have dined at Il Bistro from many years. Until this visit, we have always been well satisfied with the experience. I'm not sure what the problem was with this visit, maybe it existed with the kitchen staff. At the beginning, the maitre d' was aloof, and not very cordial. We arrived precisely on the time of our reservation. It appeared the entire restaurant was packed and our assigned table was acceptable. Our waiter was new, but accommodating. The wait for our salad was almost one hour. The waiter brought us 2 complimentary appetizers to appease our hunger. Once the main course of pastas arrived, they appeared to have been old leftovers that were heated up in a microwave oven. The waiter and maitre d' were both very apologetic concerning our experience. After all the many years we have dined here, we will still give it another go. Maybe it was an aberration, Sunday evening following a Seahawks game. Very, very disappointing.
Food was very tasty although they subscribe to the “less is more” philosophy- very small portions! Food took an hour to be served. I liked the ambience emanating from the bar area but the noise level made it hard to converse. Next time I think I’ll just opt for the bar at happy hour!
The food was good but not great, Calimari was a little rubbery but the broth was great. My biggest complaint was our waitress. Although she offered the table next to ours pepper for their salad and Parmesan for lasagna, we were not offered anything. She was also snarky when I asked about the special and clearly irritated when we declined dessert.
The upside is the location.
I ordered risotto and the food portion was ridiculously small. I questioned if they gave me an appetizer size (which still would have been small) but was told no but the server offered to give me a bigger portion or dessert on the house. I choose the bigger portion since I was still hungry which was a much more reasonable size. However, the risotto was extremely bland and disappointing. My husband ordered Chicken Caccatorie which he enjoyed
The ambiance was rather loud to carry on an intimate conversation but the service was excellent.
