Been going there for a long time and they did a little remodel that I think helped with the noise level. Food was lacking a little flavor this time, but the rest of the group liked their dinner. Overall great place to go and relax and have some good wine.
The food was fantastic - every bite was a treat and had a freshness that clearly came from being so close to the market. I can't wait to go back and try some more. The atmosphere was perfect for a romantic dinner: dark, intimate, and yet loud enough to be able to have a conversation without being overly conscious. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The only downside for us was that there was apparently some hiccup in our main course and we waited a long time! They apologized without us raising a complaint and comped dessert.
Il Bistro just hit all the bases for us. Quality of food, presentation, great rotating food specials, and an improv theater right around the corner. I expected to spend well over $200 on what we ordered. After tip we only spent $153. It was such a relaxing and warm experience. Our server was very attentive, just like during previous visits.
Great restaurant in a great location
Extremely loud at my little table facing the wall. Didn’t stay. I’m sure the food would have been lovely. But, it was so friggin loud, I couldn’t hear my wife.
Everything was really tasty. It’s a bit too loud for my taste. Other than that, loved it!
Had a lovely dinner with good friends. We were able to have nice conversation - good was excellent and server was delightful. First, but certainly won’t be my last time at this restaurant right around the corner where I’ve worked for the last 20 years! How did I miss this treasure?
It was my birthday dinner. The steel fish was excellent; my husband reports the scallops were “okay”. Always appreciate menus that indicate gluten free options. The room was very intimate. Overall a good choice.
One of my favorite goto's in Seattle for great Italian food.Food is consistently outstanding. Service is always exceptional and our waitress was an expert on wine and helped us select the perfect bottle for our meal. We took some friends here for their first visit and they loved it. We will return😁
Hadn't been in 20 years but I remember loving it back then. Sadly, this time the food was AWFUL. Truly inedible. The chicken was tough, over salted and undercooked. The pasta tasted like it came from a jar. The wine was good but way overpriced (expected). It was a sad waste of money....at least it's still pretty and my date was laid back about what a disappointment it was.
I went back because they have the best lasagna in the city. Their ricotta cheese is better than anything I’ve had locally. I should sit in the bar next time as the dining room felt a little fancier than I wanted (first time I went I was in the bar). I will be coming back ASAP. Great restaurant. Thank you.
One of the few truly romantic restaurants left in the city. Superb service including sommelier. Two dinners 1 app, 1 salad, and a bottle of wine cane to $130 pre tip. Best bartenders who really know how to make a cocktail. All very reasonable for what you get and a great evening always. Risotto was the best.
Very cozy, intimate restaurant. The service was attentive and the food was amazing. The menu choices had something for everyone including our teenage boys. Very personal service and prompt. Plus you can't beat having a great dinner right in Pike Place.
An enjoyable dinner with great food and service and a comfortable setting.
Sat at the bar; excellent service and hospitality from bartender (Matt) and servers. We loved the cocktail list (drinks with interesting ingredients and combinations of flavors) , the selection of spirits and the availability of advice on how the cocktails tasted and finally, they were delicious.
We were reasonably satisfied with the food but nothing stood out though none of our selections were regrettable. We'll be back for the cocktails and a bite in a good location with welcoming service.
The rack of lamb is still to die for. Love this restaurant. We've been visiting off and on since it's inception many years ago. Recommend to all Seattle visitors as a must do while in this city.
There was a little confusion with our reservation, but the restaurant went above and beyond to make it right for us. We had a wonderful time. The ambience, food and cocktails were amazing. We appreciated the attentive service and attention to detail.
I will definitely be back to the lounge area - amazing service and drinks. For the price level of this restaurant the food in the dining room was disappointing.
Despite knowing I love the Lasagna here, I ordered the Lamb Osso Buco. It was good but not great. I’ll return to the Lasagna for my next meal. This is one of my go-to restaurants. It is friendly and reliably good and sometimes great. The bars and Happy Hour are great.
disappointed. Went for Valentine's day. Very very slow service.
The food was AMAZING and the service was marvelous. We had a bit of a hard time finding the restaurant, but once we did, we were treated to one of the best meals in a very long time.
In the past we have had the privilege of dining at many great restaurants, but this one was very impressive. We will definitely be back, especially when we can share the experience with friends. Thank you IL Bistro.
Slow service. Pasta came out cold, so I had to ask for a new plate.
First time eating here though I have walked by many times. What a hidden gem in the market. I had the lasagna which was outstanding. The service was first-class and the sommelier was informative. My wife and i had a lovely time and will definitely return a lot.
I made a reservation for New Year’s Eve and was highly disappointed. The food was overpriced, cold and flavorless.
It was just OK. Cute place tucked away in the market but really just ok. We were hoping for great homemade pasta but very few pasta choices (menu posted online and in window is “old” we were told) and nothing really special. There are probably better pasta food stalls in the market but they don’t have ambiance.
What an amazing dinner. Ambiance and food was perfect. Thank you.
I wish I could recall our servers name, but both the host and our server provided really wonderful and friendly service. He checked on us regularly, provided great communication regarding the menu and drink options, and all around it was a very warm and relaxing experience, even with one of the members of our reservation running 30mins late. We had a lovely time and our experience at Il Bistro was a highlight of the evening. Thanks!
This is one of our favorites. Wonderful food and atmosphere.
My boyfriend and I went for Christmas dinner. It was a pre-fixed menu for the night. I ordered lamb and veal rigatoni and he ordered a duck dish. Both were mediocre. There wasn't much meat in my dish, it was room temperature, and the sauce tasted like something I could make or poured from a jar. It didn't taste bad, but it was uninspiring. The appies were also a bit bland. As for dessert, the tiramisu was good, and my boyfriend's flourless chocolate cake was quite good as well. The cost was $68 per person. The quantity of food was fine: the portions were reasonable. However, we felt it was overpriced because of the lack of quality.
Our server (I believe her name was Jacquie) seemed tired and lacked fine dining etiquette (reaching across our table several times, bringing food without a platter, etc.).
The busser named Pasquale was friendly, quick, and had excellent fine dining etiquette (when we asked for extra butter he actually brought the tiny butter dish on a platter). We wish he had been our server! :)
We enjoyed our return to IL Bistro on Christmas night for the prix fixe dinner -- exceptional! Great food, great service. We'll return every time we're back in Seattle.
Second time there and absolutely loved it. Hand made pasta - a win every single time.
What a surprise. Some really great restaurants in Pike Place Market an IL Bistro is one of them. Great food, great vibe.
Fabulous meal in an intimate setting. Will definitely be going back.
Four of us enjoyed a very fine dining experience at Il Bistro. We began in the bar and superb cocktails by Dan. He is as entertaining to watch as he is creative with cocktails! Dinner was delicious. Service was fine but the time between placing our order and recieving our main course was slow, took too long. But that was the only bump in an otherwise very good experience at Il Bistro. Love the ambiance and the energy of the restaurant.
Service was super slow - took 2..5 hours for 3 course dinner and we ordered within 10 mins of arrival. Food was okay. Half great and half not good at all. For the price tag, we expected more. There are a ton of great Italian restaurants in Seattle. This one is slipping. Been going to Il Bistro for 20 years and had been a favorite. Haven’t been in awhile and won’t be going back any time soon.
Way too noisy
The host was a cliche douchebag; old, long gray ponytail, 80s shoulders on his coat, and condescending af. It was borderline funny, but... For a guy who's job is to take coats and escort me to a table, though?
The food was pretty good, and the rest of the staff were awesome.
Been here many times. When we sat down the waiter told us the kitchen was on the slow side that evening. So much better being forewarned than sitting and getting annoyed. Nice evening, love the ambiance.
We were the first to be seated at 5:30. It took 25 minutes to get our drinks and bottle of wine. We did not get our food until 6:50. At 6:20 I finally said something to the server because had a show at 7:00. One of us left before the food arrived so as to secure our show seats. We did not eat but put our food in boxes and left. They credited the entrees. The server was not attentive to his tables. He personally was bringing out plates after plates of food for other tables without noting that WE had not gotten OUR food yet we were the first guests there. He and the manager said it was the fault of the kitchen. I take issue with that. The server and the manager for that matter should have noticed the issue and done something. It wasn’t until I shared my concern with the server that he brought the manager into it. And that was at 6:20 or almost an hour into it. And it STILL took a half our for the food to come. How do you walk by YOUR tables and not notice your guests sitting there waiting. I can’t say how the food was as I won’t eat any until tonight as leftovers.
IL Bistro was awesome. Had a girl that I've wanted to take on a date for a longtime, so I decided to go with IL Bistro and it was an amazing decision. Had an awesome night. Great service, great food, great environment, not sure what else could top this!
