Iki-jime, Seafood by Vue, was first opened by celebrity chef and restauranteur Shannon Bennett in 2017 as the next iteration of the much-loved Bistro Vue. Drawing upon the native Australian landscape as inspiration, the restaurant has departed from its famous French predecessor with an inky blue, moody backdrop and seafood-driven philosophy. Paying homage to the ethical fishing technique, Iki-jime, all seafood on the menu is ethically sourced and individually line-caught. Seeking to challenge industry standards, the thought-provoking menu is carefully curated to highlight the unparalleled calibre of Australian produce. Iki-jime, Seafood by Vue, caters to every occasion from the more refined style of gastronomy, to hearty, less formal lunch options, as well as light and tasty bar snacks. The onsite bar, Bar Jime, is a sleek and sophisticated space offering a spectacular wine and cocktail list, ideal for post-work drinks.

We were fans of the original vue de mon and thought we would give seafood de vue a go. We were greeted lovely and sat right in front of the kitchen which is where we sat when we originally went there about 8 heats ago. It was amazing to sit and watch the chefs cook prepare the planting of the food. We decided to go with the chefs choice and leave it up to them to decide what to give us. It was really nice but not the degustation we expected. The main was a whole ling fish with peppercorn sauce. Unfortunately we had to send it back as it was raw. It didn’t pull off the bone very well and very raw in the middle. Luckily it didn’t taste right for me the first bite so we sent the fish back and asked to cook it more. They did return the same fish and more cooked but by that time I was feeling very il and could still smell the rawness (probably all in my head) but I still was disheartened and putt off and couldn’t eat it. My husband ate most of it. As I come from the Italian region where fish is the most common food we eat I was very experienced to what it should look and taste like. Unfortunately this did put a dampen on the whole experience. The quality of food was nice but no comparison to the original place. This was more of a ala carte restaurant than a degustation experience.

Amazing food with impeccable service, I'd go so far as to say the best service I've had in a restaurant in Melbourne to date. The staff are unobtrusive, helpful and make you feel like a welcomed guest who's every request will be catered for. As a frequent solo diner this is a rare experience and made my evening a wonderful night out. I'd highly recommend the food as well, trust the servers recommendations and have your boundaries pushed, you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Service amazing, not in your face but there if needed, knowledgeable and informative about the dishes. Food was beautifully presented and was delicious, served by the friendly wait staff and even the head chef got out on the floor. Able to see the kitchen clearly and watch the precision of the whole team in creating their fantastic dishes. Can't wait for the next trip to Melbourne so we can go back and do it again ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤

The menu was not clear about the description of the food. We ordered the prawn and fish katsu and did not expect to get a katsu sando which was quite average. Apart from that the rest of the food we ordered was ok but the customer service was great.

Good service, nice place, one or two great dishes amongst some fairly ordinary stuff, in one case a dish no one could really say anything good about.... fish generally overdone. But very well presented and innovative, interesting too. Fresh produce certainly.

It’s been a while and as expected David Wilson , a master in this scene and the food was prepared with love and finesse!
Barramundi was a winner!

What a fabulous experience for the seafood lover. 'Seas the Day' is a fantastic food adventure where the food is not always what is seems and just an amazing way to try some of everything the wonderful chefs have to offer. The Tatan is not to be missed! The waiters were so knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful experience. Can't wait to go back.

We were disappointed with our experience at Ikejime. The restaurant smelt like old oil from a really bad fish and chip shop.
The king fish, barramundi and the gnocchi dish were delicious but The rest of the meals were a huge let down and basically tasted bland. Our pana cotta was as runny as soup and we had to send it back and the soufflé was terrible (chef explained they had some sort of disaster with it but proceeded to serve it?)
Expected more from a Vue restaurant!

We went on a quiet Tuesday night and the space was intimate with just a few other diners. We were seated in front of the kitchen and could watch the oysters being freshly shucked and other dishes being expertly prepared.
Service was great. We ordered several small dishes to share and the waiter recommended just the right amount. The eel dish was a standout although everything was amazing. We're not dessert people but decided to try the chocolate souffle and tart tatin - both delicious!

Amazing seafood dinner. Every dish was delicious. Loved the fish and chips and the prawn cocktail, but the standout dish was the grilled kingfish. One of the best fish I've ever eaten.

Very disappointing. Made a booking for my partners birthday and was stuck in a corner alongside 2 other couple's. Super tight space with barely enough room to get out. Could here every word the table next to us was saying.
Meanwhile large tables were spaced out in front of the kitchen pass. This made no sense.

The feed me menu is not good value. Most dishes seemed pre prepared and quality nowhere near fitting of the price.
