Ikaros Greek Restaurant brings traditional cuisine straight from the island of Ikaria. This family style eatery features fresh menu items that are made daily from scratch. The combination of this dedication to delicious Greek food and the cozy interior are two of the main reasons Ikaros Greek Restaurant is so beloved in Oakland.

At Ikaros Greek Restaurant, the Oktopodi Sti Skara comes highly recommended; it’s octopus cooked over the grill and served chilled with a splash of balsamic vinaigrette. There are also more casual offerings like the chicken gyro sandwich, the lamb souvlakia, pork souvlakia and a bifteki platter featuring ground meats, steak fries and more.

Food was delicious! Dinners we ordered were great. Deserts OK, but nothing fabulous. Maybe it's because my grandmother made Greek pastries that were absolutely over the top. Could be because we were all full from the generous dinner portions, also.

We had a special prix fixe dinner for Valentine's Day. The hostess, server, and wine steward were all attentive. We both had the spanakopita and tiropita starter. Then she had lemon chicken and I had short ribs. That was all great and was followed by dessert, galaktoboureko and loukoumades. If I had to choose one it would be the galaktoboreko, but by then it didn't make much difference. The wine flights were both creative and generous. If you know you'll be having one of their flights, you should come by taxi, Uber, or Lyft.

Primarily because there are so few Greek restaurants in the area!

We especially like the grilled branzino fish which is a special but seems to be available most of the time.
