III Forks - Houston Ratings and Reviews
Pricey and upscale
This restaurant has plenty of ambiance and style. I was a bit shocked at the price of entrees but the food was absolutely delicious. Their scallop appetiser was the best I’ve ever tasted. However, the steaks started around $40 and quickly went up from there. I selected a prime ribeye and it was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Can’t imagine what the pricier cuts were like. Safe this restaurant for that very special occasion.
We heard great things about this restaurant. It left a bit to be desired. Might have been just an off night. The crabcake appetizer was room temperature. We had onion rings, lobster mac and cheese and the creamed corn for our sides. None were hot and the onion rings-which had a great presentation, were greasy. The steaks all had great flavor and were cooked as we ordered, but took it took over 40 minutes from the time the appetizers were served until our food came. Like I said, it was probably just an off night.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday, and he absolutely loved it. This was my third visit to III Forks and his first. Our filet mignon was served to perfection, the service was impeccable, and the food was rich but not overbearing. The only slight annoyance this visit was being seated pretty close to another couple that was rather loud. She kept nagging about her job, and complained about every little thing (rather loudly), and griped about how much everything cost while we were trying to have a pleasant, quiet dinner.
The food was good but the service was not good! We had a group of 10 and the restaurant was not busy but had to ask for hot water, spoons, honey for tea which five people order over 10 times. The restaurant called me and asked about our visit. I told them the food was good but not the service. They said thank you and hung up the phone. Wow no I am sorry, now what happen. I guess they don't want our business.
We had a great time and when we arrived, they knew it was our wedding anniversary. We were greeted with champagne at our table by our waiter and a nice dessert and white russians at the end - all complimentary and unexpected! They also took our picture and gave it to us in a card signed by the staff - such a nice tough! Meal was delicious and service, attentive. We had a wonderful time and will be back!
My husband and I really enjoyed eating at III Forks. We were going to a concert at the House of Blues, so we chose this restaurant since it was close by and had such good reviews. For an appetizer, we ordered the onion rings. The onion rings almost seem like an out of place menu option for a fancier restaurant, but they were very good. For dinner, I ordered the 8oz Filet Mignon and my husband ordered the bone in Ribeye. Both of our steaks were tender and cooked perfectly. The sides are great for sharing. We ordered the creamed corn and mashed potatoes. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. This restaurant is pricey, but it’s a very good spot for a special occasion.
Service was outstanding, food was great. Our only issue was the noise level. There was a wine tasting function in the next room with a DJ and it was very very loud. Everyone in the dining room had to practically yell to have a conversation. Perhaps some tablecloths (a couple of layers) would have helped absorb some sound. We were hoping for a quieter dinner. That being said, all four of us agreed we would go again, although we would make sure there were no similar events taking place the same night.
If you are looking for a disco tech and wine bar this might be your place. If you are looking for a high end steakhouse this is probably not your place. Can’t express our disappointment III Forks decided to turn 80% of the restaurant into a wine tasting disco and having ten tables for dinner without telling those of us that made reservations for dinner what we were in for, certainly not a nice dinner. Nothing against a good wine tasting but not when it ruins a dinner with family. Had to wait over 30 mins for a 6:15 reservation. They offered to make a six top into a four top but then decided they needed it for a 7pm reservation but nobody ever sat there the entire time we were there. Poor poor service. My suggestion is there are better steakhouses around that will provide the service that a high end restaurant should have! You can get good food at a lot of places but service defines a top end restaurant and III Forks does have it!
Late Monday dinner to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday with a small group of 8. The restaurant was empty but fully staffed so imagine my disappointment when none of the staff acknowledged that we were celebrating a birthday. Mind you I book the reservation and noted the birthday as well as informing the host upon arrival. As a matter of fact dessert wasn’t offered at all.
One of the best steaks I have had! Was cooked to perfect medium rare. The bacon wrapped crab stuffed shrimp were out of this world. My Girlfiend had the pork chop. It was tender and juicy the ancho bbq suace was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Quiet atmosphere allowed for conversation.
We had the worst experience ever! I spoke highly about III forks to my husband n our close cousins and first of all our reservation was not "found" after booking through open table! Second the waiter spilled my cucumber martini all over my pants and didn't even apologize all he stated he'd take it to top it off! Then over an hour to receive our dinner! I will not return much less recommend
Elias was a great server. He and the restaurant went over and above to attend to us. The food was absolutely superb. The filet was as beautiful and it was excellent - one of the very best I've ever had. They made my daughter's birthday super fun.
The food and attention were above 5star+!
Can't wait to dine there again.
Food was excellent, but service did not measure up. We asked for extra sauce with our appetizer and never received it. Some main courses came out wrong, but were immediately corrected. We asked for a knife to cut and share our desert and never received it. For a fine dining establishment, the service is lacking and needs improvement.
From the phone call to confirm to the reservation to the dinner everything was exceptional. My husband and I had the HRW menu, but added the Lobster Mac-n-cheese. We had a few cocktails and they were potent but good. We were there celebrating our anniversary. They took a complimentary photo of us, and also sent out a huge piece of chocolate with two shots of there house made Irish cream. The experience was fantastic. Definitely going back again
One word for the evening: Salt.
Food was perfectly cooked in that the meats were tender, succulent and the right texture BUT everything was SUPER SALTY. I want to say the food was great after we shaved off a thin outer layer of the pork and the streak. If not, it was too salty to eat. The meats (steak medium rare and pork chops) themselves, however, were cooked to perfection. The salt is obviously added at or near the end of cooking and crusts all the food.
All the dishes had SALT. Even the Butter had salt sprinkled on it. The side dishes had salt. I couldn't swallow the kale because of the salt but again it was cooked very nicely. I wanted to order more liquor and wine but I had to drink so much water instead.
Chef cooked everything well but I don't think he ever tasted the food he prepared.
There were a total of four tops in the restaurant at the time we came in service was unbelievably slow. Food value was extremely overpriced. Meal was prepared wrong. Ask to speak to a manager waited 10 minutes and then went and asked and found him. Asked if he had been told he said yes was just giving me time to calm down. Not sure of the stars that this restaurant has but it needs to be downgraded. As a chef I'm well aware of how long it should take to prepare a steak and a salad!
Service was not attentive. We felt like we were being ignored. Multiple errors in billing (overcharged 2 of the 3 meals) and then payments processing (charged wrong amounts to credit cards, but we were able to correct it through tips so each card holder paid their fair share and waiter got collective amount of tip intended for table.
Something too salty on the Hamachi first course. Steak was also a bit salty. In both cases, the saltiness was uneven - way too much on parts, more or less fine on others. Wasn't accustomed to having salt added to sashimi and wouldn't want that again.
