Would have given it a higher review but the entire meal was not a 4 star exceptional experience. It fell short with a side dish and desert which were mediocre. For us not to finish a dessert said a lot to us. I would go again but only for drinks and appetizers.
Ambiance at a very affordable price. This was the perfect place for a birthday date, the food was A-MAE-ZING! Conveniently located near lake shore drive so the commute was a breeze. Service was A1 as well. My server Vinny was pretty cool and knowledgeable about the entire menu. Just go there, stop what you're doing and book your reservation, now!
A satisfied customer.
Great food and service!!!
Food was good! Service was lousy, for not being busy the server hardly came to the table to refill water. Me and my girlfriend ordered salmon and chicken dishes that took an hour to come out and the server didn’t tell us what was going until about 5 minutes before the food came out. In my opinion there’s better options downtown that give better value for the same price point!
3 of us dined, 3 different cuts of steak, filet, bone-in rib-eye and a boneless rib-eye. All executed perfectly and with amazing flavor. King's butter always recommended and we tried the mushrooms for the first time and found that they were as delightful as everything else we have tried -- a heaping portion, but also a great variety and mix of flavors.
New Year’s Eve
The food was amazing plus very fast service for NYE dinner! Prices were reasonable for the amount of food given..
We went with 2 other couples on NYE. We had delicious Three Forks Salad, Ahi Tina Salad, and a Wedge Salad. 5 people had different cuts of steak, I had a 12 ounce lobster tail. We had Brussel Sprouts, creamed corn and 6 cheese potatoes as our sides. We shared a dessert of the white cake with candied pecans. All delicious. Our server was attentive and checked in appropriately. A great start to the New Year.
We were looking forward to a New Year's Eve celebration with our friends, who is a "regular". (He was greeted by name by the maître d', his name is Terry Winkler.)
We met early as we usually do and always enjoy having a drink at the bar before dinner, we did and it was great.
After being seated, we were surprised that the menu, of course, featured steaks but very little of anything else, I understand that meat is their specialty but not everyone in a group enjoys that.
My wife and I both ordered the iii Forks salad, which was fine, and a crab cake for our entrée.
We both were disappointed that the small crab cake did not taste like crab at all nor did it seem to contain any crab meat, and for $20 non the less.
Also, unfortunately, our guests, after requesting a medium-well filet with a red center, was served the steak well done. After asking for it to be re-served, it came back much later looking exactly the same.
(The waiter attempted to appease us by giving us two extra side dishes of the same side dishes that we had already eaten, and it was no consolation.)
We are both LSE residents and would like to patronize local establishments but need to bring this lapse of dining to your attention, so that can enjoy your hospitality in the future.
Service and food an NYE were wonderful. Wasn't sure how the food would be on NYE but was pleasantly surprised. Their bleu cheese/foie gras butter is to die for. Had it on my lobster tail.
Our waiter was very nice, and our food was exceptional
We went to 3 Forks for New Years Eve dinner, it was an energetic crowd, and extremely busy, but the service was top notch and the food even better. We both had the Surf n Turf special on the New Year's menu. A huge perfectly cooked and sweet cold water lobster tail and filet done to order perfectly (one perfect medium, one perfect medium rare). My companion's favorite dinner treat is lobster and her comment after the meal was "this was the first time in my life that I actually like the steak even better than the lobster". I have eaten at 7 of the top 10 steak houses in Chicago, and I honestly find that 3 Forks has better steak than any of the others.
Always a pleasure, although it's pricey...it's very much worth the cost. Very nice and tasty!
Went yesterday for my birthday. Third time here and won't be my last. To start the LakeShore East community is a small neighborhood that is so different than other areas of the city. We started with appetizers-Lobster Escargot- Would order again. Onion Rings-cooked just right.
Meals within our part of 4- Shrimp & Pasta, Filet w/ mashed potatoes, Special-Bone in Filet, and NY Strip(side 6 cheese Potatoes. We all enjoyed our meals, the sides are definitely splittable.
Dessert- Bread Pudding was better than most places.
This place is even better in the summer with the rooftop. Definitely on our list of special occasion restaurants.
My mom was visiting and I took her there for her 70th birthday. I mentioned her birthday when I booked the reservation on Open Table, and they were gracious from the moment we walked through the door. The hostess wished her a happy birthday when we checked in, and our server (Angie) was incredibly attentive. The food was excellent...can’t wait to go back!
All around great experience. The service was outstanding and weekday half off bottle wines. The steak was some of the best I have ever had camparsble to bavettes. Love this place
The location was a little difficult to find as we were walking there from the west, and had to descend into a kind of sunken park area where we lost cell service, before we could find the restaurant. Once there, we really enjoyed ourselves. Excellent steak, great sides, good selection of wines, and a perfect medium-casual steakhouse vibe that was just right for our family of 4. Nice views of the park from our windowside table. Plus excellent service! Downsides: No real vegetarian alternatives and a limited kids menu.
I love this place and always will. I try to stop by as frequently as I can and have never been let down.
Their steaks were just average, Absolutely over priced,
One of the best burgers I've ever had, love the half price happy hour wine, fantastic filet mignon, and the 7 Cheese Potatoes are a must.
We shall return
Our filets were rather dry even though we requested medium. The vegetable and dessert were excellent. We just expected more flavor from a downtown steakhouse.
Had dinner on Christmas Eve 2018. Food and Ambiance was good, as usual. Service was poor. After the hostess seated us we waited about 15 minutes for a server, whom I had to chase down. The remainder of the night I felt a bit forgotten by the staff. It seemed like they were unsure which server owner our table.
I assume this was an anomaly. Usually very please with III Forks
Top of my list great place incredible food and the service is top notch. The escargot style lobster is delicious! Steaks were perfect definitely on the top of the list for steak in Chicago.
We went to II Forks for Christmas Eve dinner. The ambience was perfect; we were seated in a booth that gave a feeling of privacy even though the booth was facing the bar. The service was excellent. two of the people in our party ordered steaks which were outstanding. The rack of lamb was very good as was the tuna. Everything was cooked to perfection. Desserts were also very good and we appreciated the bourbon creme that was served to us at the end of the meal (complimentary). Would highly recommend this restaurant to others.
This is a place to go for a special event. It is a bit expensive, but in line with other restaurants that are similar. The server told us about the weekday happy hour specials, so we may check that out in the future.
Love love this place. The food, people, ambience is amazing. The lobster bisque is one of my favorite dishes along with the fried lobster. Everything is deeeeeelious
Amazing food, amazing service, amazing time my boyfriend and I had!!
We were welcomed warmly by hosts Andrea and Brittany !
Our server Heather was very attentive and the GM Jeremy Vass was kind enough to come over and greet us as well!
Lovely solo dinner in quiet atmosphere. If I had wanted more conversation, the bar seemed friendly to enjoy as well. Amazing steak and convenient isn’t to the Art Institute-just a 10 minute walk through Millennium Park, watching the ice skaters.
Nice wines for happy hour at half price and $1 oysters. Dinner was very good. Exceptional sea bass. Steaks great.
Jeff the waiter was outstanding.
If I could give III Forks 6 stars, I would. Our hostess for the night was Angie and she made our experience an incredible one. She was so knowledable, accommodating, and genuinely friendly. My girlfriends and I had an amazing time and we give Angie all the credit. The food was delicious and cocktails were delicious. We will definitely be back again.
great food. a bit of a noisy venue. Angie is a super server, we loved her.
Really great food and staff. Our server Jorge made really good suggestions on wine and number of side dishes to share. The King's butter steak topper is amazing. Also loved the French onion soup, gratin potatoes, and fried Brussels sprouts. The onion ring appetizer was cooked really nicely, but the flavor was a bit bland. I will definitely be back.
Food was ok was served room temperature. My steak i had to send back. Chefs came out to meet me and speak . Which was nice. The staff was phenomenal, Brian was a great waiter , at trying to make up for mistakes. I had a birthday dinner reservation but the host didn’t know so i was sat somewhere else.. birthday menus weren’t out, I had to mention my reservations. The manager did bring out drinks to apologize.
Had a nice filet that was prepared perfectly. Large portions and great staff.
Amazing service and outstanding food. Had the bone in filet, it was tender and buttery, tried several sides, they all were so fresh and well prepared. The creamed corn with fresh corn was the best I've ever had.
The food was just outstanding. The lamb meatballs were just the bomb. I wish that was an entrée, my husband and I each had a different steak but both were just fabulous. Our server was very attentive and made great recommendations. Definitely will be back.
Everything i would expect in an excellent Chicago steak house. Service was spot on, all food cooked to perfection. our entire party was totally satisfied. Best experience since our first time at Gibsons. We will absolutely be going back and hopefully soon!
I've been a few times in the past but it is the first time my wife has been. She loved it. The service was fantastic and the food was spot on. Wouldn't change a thing. Looking forward to it warming up so we can go upstairs.
