iFish Japanese Grill & Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
We loved this place! I got a combination spicey plate that was plentiful and inexpensive. My wife got 3 rolls that were huge so she couldn't even finish them. We sat outside and people watched as well as watched bicyclists blow red lights at the intersection. One weird thing about this restraunt was they only have low sodium soy sauce! Really?!
I selected a 3:30 appointment based on OpenTable availability and the start of their happy hour according to their website. When I arrived, no one was around to greet me and their sign said they opened at 4:00. Since I was on my hour lunch break, I didn't want to use half of it waiting, so I went somewhere else instead. Please look into coordinating your open times online.
Reserved using open table. I was called by the staff the day before to confirm my reservation. Came here with my wife for Valentine's day. Arrived 45 minutes early but still got a table almost immediately. Service was good. The food was great. Great location -- about a block form Coors Field . I would definitely recommend and would go again.
I reserved a table for two for Valentines Day. I had seen some bad reviews after the fact but thought I'd try it out for myself. From the start, our waiter Michelle was helpful, polite and informative. The food was awesome and the pricing wasn't as bad as I had expected. Definitely will be returning for another date night!!!
We've now been back twice and loved it both times. Excellent happy hour food menu until 6:30pm, great service. Really like to sit at the sushi bar, chefs are fun to talk to. Great rolls, good sushi, overall just an easy place to eat. We especially like the location for going to events in Denver. They even reserved the sushi bar for us. My kids love the place, but so do I. Definitely worth going to.
We have dined at iFish the last three years for NYE due to the great service and awesome happy hour. We had a nice experience this year as well, however we did have a spider roll that was a bit... funky. My only gripe is that we brought it up to our waiter and his comment was that it was fresh, and there was likely nothing wrong with it. It was also on our bill even though we couldn't eat it due to the overly fishy taste. We will still be back because iFish is a staple for us, but thought this time was off course for our usual experiences.
My friends and I came here for my birthday for the first time, and it was amazing. The food was great, the environment appealing, and Kevin (our waiter) humorous and attentive. We were there during happy hour (3:30-6:30) on a Saturday and there were only a few other tables, which was also nice. I love sushi (especially their Yellow submarine!) And will definitely be returning!
It all starts with the quality of the fish and there is no doubt iFish seeks out only the freshest highest grade produce. They are imaginative with their non traditional options that will allow non-raw fish aficionados to find an array of things that will satisfy them. Our waiter was fast, friendly and went out of his way to make it a great evening.
If you have your favorites but enjoy trying something new, iFish is worth a visit. With Sushi restaurants getting to be dime-a-dozen we appreciated their unique signature rolls to experiment with as well as a full plate of good fresh fish. Parking was easy on the street (not a baseball night) and the service was consistent with a happy-to-see-you attitude.
My girlfriend and I wanted to try this place for her birthday and I after reading some mixed reviews, we decided to try it out. First of all, the service is absolutely horrific. I've been waited on by very helpful and friendly servers at sushi joints which is a HUGE PLUS for recommendations, pairings, etc.. Our server had no idea what was on tap, the kinds of starters or sushi on the menu and probably didn't even know what street the restaurant was on. I don't mean to be rude, we gave this guy a ton of chances, he just didn't care about his job.
They were out of almost all their beers but eventually I found one I would try.. It came out warm. Apps were good, sushi was okay but for the entire experience, I'll opt to stay away.
I found Ifish on the internet before coming to Denver for the weekend. I will definitely be coming back here to eat every time I'm in town. Fantastic food, the sashimi was perfect the guys at the sushi bar did an awesome job. Would recommend Ifish to those that don't like sushi as well the menu items are few bit they are terrific. Next time you're in Denver, go to Ifish.
Not a huge menu, but the choices were really interesting with complex flavor combinations. Made the reservation earlier that day and we're seated right away. The waitress was really friendly and helpful and the prices were reasonable ($50 for two of us...which is a typical sushi outing for us). Would definitely go back.
I should start by saying that I am very new to sushi as I don't like seaweed, but I have found the perfect balance with soy wrappers. To start, we had the sampler for an app (I would only recommend the dumplings, everything else was only so-so). I had the Coconut O roll, which automatically comes with a soy wrapper, and it was AMAZING! Who would have thought that raw Salmon could taste so good. I'd go back just to get that roll. Service was great, and if you're willing to walk just a few blocks you can find free parking on the other side of Broadway. Ozeki Nigori saki is a good addition, and you can't beat the $11 price tag for a whole bottle!
We were not impressed by iFish. First, they had no money for the parking meter - the only way to park in the area - and sent us down to another restaurant.
The room was crowded and though the server was nice, I got the sense she had too many tables to wait on.
The food was not memorable - odd combinations in some cases - and in general not imaginative.
I wouldn't go back
Service was beyond poor, 20 min to get a drink, over a half hour to take any food order. Although it was Valentine’s Day, the restaurant was about half full. There’s no excuse of it be a holiday night for dinners out. Service was incredibly poor, the food was equally matched. Warm mushy sushi tells me that the food had been sitting for some time because the server wasn’t keeping up with his orders. Frequently we heard around the dining room floor that there was a backup blaming the sushi chefs. This really didn’t seem to be the case nor an excuse for the lack of table service.
We had been there one other time and it was wonderful. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about gluten free and I was able to order a variety of sushi rolls. The second time was disappointing to say the least. It seemed as if our waitress was ther only one on staff that night, and she had no idea about how to modify anything on the menu to meet my dietary restrictions.I tried to have a conversation with her about it and she wanted nothing to do with it. It took 45 minutes to get some ok sushi that I didn't even really want. Probably not going back there.
A lot of options for rolls with unique names. "Jake" roll was served up very well. First time I had sushi and really enjoyed it - lots of varieties that were offered. I was still hungry and ordered the sesame chicken but did not find it to be as good as I had envisioned. I still ate it all, but it was more for the appetite than the taste.
