This place is definitely a hidden gem. Would never know it existed if not for a friend. It’s in a very nondescript location. Went for a birthday dinner with my husband. The food was delicious and the wait staff was fabulous. Two negative marks for me- they had the huge tv on (no sound) and the bathroom isn’t very nice. Not one person in the restaurant was there to watch tv, so it’s odd that they leave it on. Oh well... despite the two negatives, I’d still go back.
Saturday evening with piano dinner music snd friends — perfect to enjoy an excellent meal and good conversation. The Grill has a varied menu with a Mediterranean flavor. Our table had Bronzino, trout, and veal dishes, all perfectly prepared and presented. Service was good with wine recommendations that were right on the mark. This is not just another strip mall cafe, but a fine restaurant with a dressed down touch. This is our go-to place!
A real gem. The cooking is flavorful and French. We go there when we we want real and delicious food. They will help you pair with wine from their excellent collection.
You will feel welcome there. Don’t miss dessert either!
A real gem-outstanding food and service-this restaurant is right up there with the best in the Metropolitan area.
The food is great, the service as well. my favorite place
New Year’s Eve dinner was fantastic! Group of 6 everyone loved their meals.
Had a wonderful New Years Eve dinner with the family at this local gem! We will definitely be back. Thx Hedi and team for a wonderful evening.
This is a marvelous neighborhood restaurant with exceptional food and wine. It's the kind of place 'chic' restaurants aspire to, but don't manage. This place feels real. The owner is there, people care.
Excellent as always. Glad we found this place a few years ago. Had the stuffed salmon for the first time and it was superb. My wife had the crab cake on ravioli and it had no filler, just crab. Looking forward to more meals here next year.
Never disappointed. Best neighborhood restaurant in Falls Church
I’ve been to Idylwood several times in the past few years. I’ve never had a bad experience before. There was no excuse for what happened on Christmas Eve. Our waiter was surly and inattentive. The waiter took the drink order which took a while. We had to ask several times for bread. Waiter took the order. He brought the appetizers. The calamari was put on the bread plate, which usually comes on a dinner plate. One of the orders was a rack of lamb. It was served cold and brought it to the attention of the waiter. Brought a second one and it was lukewarm, I took one bite and put it to the side of the table. The waiter didn’t pay any attention or bother to ask me,”Is there something wrong with your dinner”. I did not want to make a scene, since It was Christmas Eve. I live 20 minutes from the restaurant. From the time I left my house to the time I got back it was a little over two hours. I do not consider this dining.
This place has a nice homey local ambiance that is always welcoming.
Everybody enjoyed their meals: steak, branzino, rack of lamb, lamb shank. My husband declared that the lamb shank was the best he had ever eaten .
All of our entrees were great—filet mignon, chicken piccata and crab cake with spinach ravioli. And half price wine on Sunday was a great bonus 👍
This neighborhood gem offers inventive American and European cuisine with a variety of fish, meat and pasta options, along with appetizers, salads, and exclusively house-made desserts. Portions are always sensibly sized and attractively presented. Service is very attentive, but never intrusive. Dining is at a leisurely pace, never rushed. A children's menu helps make this a very family friendly restaurant.
We come back here once or twice a year when friends are in from out of town. It is consistently good. We always enjoy a meal here.
Fabulous as always. This has become our favorite Bistro. Awkward location, but what the hey.
Always terrific.....everything on the menu is great!
The menu is reliably well prepared, a good mix of seafood, meats, and pastas. Wine is a highlight--we had a lovely prosecco to start with. The owner is nearly always around for a chat.
Always an outstanding dining experience.
We loved the Idylwood Grill. My husband had the filet — the steak was cooked just right and he loved the peppercorn sauce. I had the scallops with risotto. Delicious. We tried the key lime pie and the cheesecake and thought they were both excellent, but the cheesecake was truly outstanding. Good selection of wines.
Great restaurant!! Always awesome and prices very reasonable! And no corkage fee!! Wow!!
Food was excellent. Obviously a neighborhood favorite. Bit tough to park.
As always, the owner Hedi is warm and greeted us with a big smile. Din took great care of us and we really enjoyed our evening together.
Enjoy this hidden gem every time I travel to the area
We've been here several times and really have enjoyed it. Orders included NY Strip, beef bourgignon and Branzino. The steak in a mushroom and wine sauce that was very tasty but the meat itself was not up to steakhouse standards in terms of flavor. The branzino and bourginon were excellent.
Idylwood Grill is always one of our favorites. We recommend it for the atmosphere, the food, the quiet noise level, and the quality/price ratio.
The beef bourguignon was delicious, so was the risotto with scallops. We have eaten almost everything in the menu, it is always very good.
Always outstanding! We have never had a bad meal there!
We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at this neighborhood gem. Was just the right place!!! Service and food terrific. Table very well located. We’ll be back again.
Food is very good. Service a little uneven. My salad was forgotten but I was given free desert to compensate. Wine list not large but good range of choices.
Great restaurant; creative menu--especially the specialsl; great service, great food!
Wonderful, relaxing evening.
Off the beaten path, but not far. Food was fresh and well prepared. Reasonable prices and pleasant wait staff. A very enjoyable business lunch.
I go because the food is good, not any of the reasons on your list. It's a restaurant, after all. We go for the food. You need to put that on your list, which leaves off the main reason people go out to eat.
The Idylwood Grill is a hidden gem. The food is excellent and the ambience relaxing. On weekends, the jazz pianist adds to the warm vibe.
Great value. Good food. Pleasant atmosphere.
Always a good selection of food that is cooked just as I would (if I could cook fish).
The food was excellent. They do have a kid's menu, but it's still a nice restaurant, so not really a good spot for younger/rowdier kids.
As usual, excellent food and presentations and service. Very generous wine and cocktail pours. Priced fairly. Classic.
The best calamari you have ever tasted. We have gone here for years and the meals are always fantastic! Love how they give you wine pairings for whatever you choose. Boston creme pie is also to die for!! Love it!
I went there to celebrate my husbands birthday. My second time, his first. We loved it. So quiet on a Sunday at 12:30. Delicious food, wine, and music. Can’t wait to go back!
