Ida B's Table
My experience was not too great. I made reservations for 1:30pm and we didn't get seated until 2pm. After I had to ask the hostess about my table. I ordered 3 entrees, 1 came out right away (shrimp & grits) the other 2 never showed up. 25 minutes after I had to call the waitress to inquire about our food. Service was awful. Wouldn't recommend going here, or coming back.
The location and street parking were convenient. Had a 12:30 reservation for brunch on Father's Day. We were seated immediately. The hostess, server, and assistant manager were very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. All of the food was delicious and cooked fresh to order. We had the hot fried chicken and catfish and grits with an assortment of sides. For dessert...the seasonal bread pudding and butter pecan ice cream. We'll definitely be returning on a Friday or Saturday night when there's live entertainment. Great atmosphere. Love the library for relaxing and reading the plethora of African-American-centric books.
First time diners. Will definitely go again. We got the chicken livers, catfish & oxtail. Everything was so delicious & the staff was great.
The service was outstanding.. The food was too much for me to eat alone, and the waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable... The dessert was simply scrumptious... I cannot wait to go back.. The dirty Chicken Fritattia was out of this world!
Lovely ambiance, great service but the food was not good.
I ordered the chicken and sweet potato waffle (white meat), mac and cheese, French fries. My chicken was fries so hard and the skin looked like it was fried in old grease. The mac and cheese was dry and did not taste fresh. The french fries were so salty that I had to send them back and order another batch without salt. The sweet potato waffle was fair but the syrup had a strange film over it similar to if it had been sitting out.
My friend Ordered the fried catfish with Liberian greens, mac and cheese and sweet potatoes. My friend stated the fish was bland and the greens were salty.
My friends and I spoke to the assistant manager as we were leaving. She offered an apology but no concession.
Yummy delicious food and and outstanding service. Food was fresh !
I would recommend the restaurant to a friend just to have the experience. The decor is top notch. However, the drinks were nasty (Don't text me, and we had one other one), the mac-and-cheese was dry like two other reviewers said, and the wings on the appetizer list (curry, etc.) were fried too hard and seemed reheated. My fiance also didn't like the limited evening menu. It seems that Ida B's is doing to much with the menu and the dishes don't seem appetizing. The greens were good. The cornbread was good. The kid's grilled cheese and fries were good.
I thought the menu was quite limited. The waiter was not familiar with the ingredients n the entrees. He acknowledged that he had only been working there for a month.
I really enjoy the appeal that the restaurant offers.
Excellent. Just wish there were free refills on the icetea.
Good food. Nice atmosphere. Would recommend for date night with your honey!
Outstanding hospitality. The only thing I would change is too many sweet items on menu. Cornbread is sweet with sweet butter. Several menu items have candied yams as an ingredient. Cranberries & vanilla in the greens. BlackBerry sauce on the salmon. I always struggle to cobble together a meal that is 100% savory.
Great food, creative entrees, craft sodas, friendly staff, great service!
We loved it. The food was imaginative and tasty, with generous portion size. The vibe of the place was friendly and interesting, and the staff engaged and also friendly. We'll return soon.
Love this place. One small item - even when tables available they often ask you to wait before seating you. I've also been there without a reservation and been told no tables available. Sat at the bar and had a good meal, and didn't mind, but noticed that tables still open when I left. Don't know what that's about.
Service was impeccable. I’ve taken people twice and passed the word on to friends and co-workers. Keep up the outstanding service, great menu and food.
Very nice meal in a very enjoyable atmosphere. The wait staff was extremely polite and friendly.
My first visit was amazing. Food was great and service was even better. Will be back for more. You must try the butter pecan cornbread...oh my goodness, so good.
My first visit and I really enjoyed it. The staff is wonderful and attentive. The food and live music was awesome!
The greeter, the bar staff, the waitress and the manager who stood by every table were all Excellent. The live music was outstanding too. Overall a top notch experience.
Great modern taste on soul food. Great atmosphere. Service was excellent.
Always outstanding! I would recommend to friends, family and colleagues.
What a gem to find!! Great vibe, great food, great staff. Vegetarian friendly, and good for th kids too. Nice locally sourced food.
One suggestion to make an outstanding place even better — have fresh fruit on the menu as a side dish!
Thanks, and we will certainly be back again!
The food was delicious!! The service was great. Read the previous reviews and we didn’t have any issues at all. The fried chicken, jambalaya, and jerk duck were on point! Everything was great and the owner even came by to check in with us. I didn’t love the crumb cake bread budding but that’s probably more so because of my personal preference.
Great service and food. We will be back.
Service was wonderful. The corn bread muffins with their special butter spread was wonderful compared to regular rolls most places serve. My oxtail dinner was amazingly delicious & the special bread pudding dessert was perfection. Would definitely come back.
The vibe and soundtrack in the restaurant were great... The bar team seemed a little timid, but overall service was good. The Lavendula drink (+vodka) was delicious to the eye as well as to the taste buds. That's kind of where the goodness stopped....
Our server was solid, warm, friendly was knowledgeable about the menu and made recommendations. I guess it was the kitchen that let us down after that.
The sweet potato mash was not rich or flavorful, the dish had no depth to it and did not taste like someone who knew how to prepare soul food (or any variation thereof) made it. I thought the mac & cheese was OK - it was not hot, but manageable and worked with the solid flavor of the smoked fried chicken (this was actually good). None of the guests I was with liked the greens - there was just a bit too much vinegar in them...They were ok for me... I was told the chicken livers were good. The Herb and Soul Rolls were dry, not sure where the chicken was and were overpowered by the taste of the sweet potato.
Everyone has an off night, so I'm sure I'll give them another try, this was just not quite what we expected.
Great salads, best potatoe salad ever,
Loved the kale, how do they do it , so delicious. Oh, macaroni and cheese is a wow too.
Save room for dessert!
We loved everything about the restaurant, we just thought the music was a little too loud. We couldn’t hear each other talk.
Beautiful restaurant, loved the lavender lemonade!
This was our first visit here and they did not disappoint. We went for brunch , I had the chicken and waffles which were very good and my husband had the french toast which was good also. The lavender Lemonade was absolutely delicious . We will go back for dinner.
I would recommend this restaurant for happy hour. The food was bland and their "twists" on classic soul food was interesting. The jambalaya was bland and not spicy and it had carrots and squash in it. The fried chicken was dry and the mac and cheese was just ok. The fried catfish and greens were good. The cornbread was the best I've ever had.
The experience was GREAT!! Food was AWESOME!! And the service was OUTSTANDING!!
My husband and I went for a early lunch in celebration of our wedding anniversary. We were thoroughly pleased from the moment we walked through the door. The hostess was pleasant as well as our server Alexis. She was outstanding and very attentive. Our food was delicious. Shrimp and grits were divine. My husband had the chicken and waffles and he said it was very tasty. The ambiance was quaint and the decor was tastefully done. We love supporting black owned and operated businesses. Ida B's did not disappoint. Well done!
good food friendly staff will go back again live music was good but loud
We came in from out of town and this was our first stop. We were not disappointed! Celebrating friend’s birthday... she is vegetarian. Lots of great options!
1). Cornbread- molasses butter was #omg
2). Biscuits- apple butter also good
3). Fried chicken- delicious
4). Eggplant sandwich- friend loved it
5). Mac and cheese- okay
6). Some sort of dessert in a little glass jar- very nice!
7). Lavender lemonade- best ever!!!
Historic interior... sketchy exterior. You might think you were in the wrong place- lol
Worth the trip- great prices
I would drive another 3 hours for the biscuits and cornbread alone. We'd recommend the catfish!
Spacious dining area, efficient but cordial service, and the assistant general manager dropped by the table to thank us for dining there when Baltimore has so many dining options. Nice touch. My one word of clarification is on the fry bread tacos. Totally delicious, but not the usual fry bread fluffy texture. Think fried tortilla, and you're closer to the mark. The saddest part was we had no room for dessert.
Lovely establushment. Upscale art decor but feels homey and relaxing. Excellent food selections, unique items and excellent quality of food. Reasonably priced. Great way to spend afternoon or evening.
I loved this place ! I saw this on Places To Love with Samantha Brown and had to try it! I flew into Baltimore and it was my first stop! I love the inclusion and the atmosphere of this place! The food was great - try the chicken livers - sounds odd, but they are amazing !
Lovely place to eat, have drinks and dessert. The food is always delicious, service is outstanding.
