As always, we had a fantastic dinner. We sat at the bar, I ordered the chef's choice omosake and my wife ordered rolls and a ocean trout collar. The food was amazing, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and we h as d a great night. Will always come back when we come to SF.

I used to love ICHI Sushi when I lived in the Mission (about 5 years ago now). They had really good sushi at a relatively affordable price. I went back a week ago (May 2019) when I was visiting some friends in SF and was really disappointed in the many ways it's changed. The maki (rolls) are still affordable at around $6 each, but a single piece of nigiri costs as much as a roll and a small karafe of sake cost us $60! The waiter also kept pushing us to try the tasting menu, which costs over $100 a person. The maki is still really good, but we tried one hot dish, the pork belly, which was good, but not great. It also seems impossible to get a table now, unless you've made a reservation. I saw a few people try to walk in and get a table and they were all turned away. Overall, I was very disappointed and don't think I'll be going back again.

This place is special. The dishes are fresh, diverse, and delicious creations that feel personalized. Omakase is pricey, but if you get the chance, it is worth it and out of this world! I loved our chef, he was so attentive and knew what dishes would delight us the most. Would (and have) strongly recommend dinner @ Ichi.

I really can't afford to eat out on this level, but good friends treated me for a BIG birthday. We had 20 pieces, omakase, with Chef Jonathan. Exquisite! One complimentary shot each of a special sake with Amy, our server. Wonderful! Worth every penny (if you can manage it)! Arigatu!

Food was horrible and service was only decent part. Way to pretentious for it's own good. Not allowing people to use soy sauce on sushi is not a good idea. However good you think your food is remember the customer is always right. If they want soy sauce letthem have it.

We had a Reservation for 9 pm but the restaurant was full and we had to wait until 9:30 pm to have sat. It was very bad because we had to wait outside. I knwe that the place is too small but I was not expecting this.

Come here if you’re looking for Omakase from $80-$150. It is a GREAT vibe with awesome food. But don’t come if you’re trying to save money. The restaurant is really small too, so I think the staff prefers high rollers over penny pinchers. I penny pinched and regretted it!

This is what sushi is supposed to taste like. Melt-in-your-mouth sashimi. Incredible depth of flavor. Friendly and intimate setting. The omakase was an amazing treat for my pre-birthday dinner.

Sadly a terrible experience and I will never go back, even though I love this restaurant. I often go here with my child (18 months, special needs, in his stroller) as we live in Bernal Heights. I made a reservation on Open Table and as always, made a note that we would need for a stroller. My son is not able to sit up yet (due to medical complications he suffered in his first year if life) and needs the support of his stroller. They always accommodate us, I have never had a problem before. Tonight we arrived and the hostess said she was waiting for the party to get up at our usual table where there is room for the stroller. However, a man I have not meet before overrode her and told us that we could not bring our stroller in. I told him that I noted the need for stroller space in my reservation and that they had always accommodated us at that table in the past. He said “it’s Saturday night and I’m really busy.” Open table was wide open when I moved my reservation back about an hour before and there were literally 3 empty tables as he told us this (which is about 1/3 of the seating in the restaurant). So we left. Really disappointing. He basically didn’t want a stroller in his restaurant on a Saturday night.

We love seating at the sushi bar and partake in the Omakase menu. Just tell the sushi chef your allergy and your preferences and walla they do the rest. Each piece is an art form and oh so delicious.

Bland, overpriced sushi with inattentive service that does little to elucidate what exactly you're ordering. Also, their policy of no soy sauce with the nigiri would've been understandable if their nigiri actually tasted like much. We both had to concentrate hard to pick up on any of the tasting notes that we expected. Save your money and go to one of SF's more affordable and far superior sushi restaurants.

I had SUCH a disappointing experience at Ichi. I love sushi and the moment we walked in we were both shocked that the whole place smelled fishy - which I have never experienced at a sushi restaurant before. Then our table was in the window facing Mission Street and the Safeway - and with lots of flies on the inside. We killed two, it was so gross. Then the waitress was super rude and shamed us when we asked questions. The music was super loud like a club with old bad music. The food was all disappointing and some straight up bad. We did the chef's choice for one and then ordered some things ourselves, all not good. Then they dropped one of our dishes on the way to us and didn't notice for a while, so we never got it. The bill was well over $200 and it was the most disappointing sushi experience of my life.
