The staff was pleasant and attentive. The brussel sprouts were amazing and even the mushrooms and cheesy grits were pretty good. The fried chicken thighs were nothing special and the tamale w/ red sauce was ok but not worth the price. The evening was a bit on the spendy side but I'm not from the big city cost either. The atmosphere was nice and loved the live music.
It was a really enjoyable date night for me and my boyfriend. We did the prix fixe option and felt like we scored an amazing deal considering the quality of the food, service, and venue. We are all for trying new restaurants but we will be returning here for "celebration" meals in the future. Live music was QUALITY and not overly loud.
Our experience was top notch from the moment we walked in until we left. We had a 6pm reservation on a Saturday night, and we were seated promptly. We were even given a choice of seating next to the stage, or in the back part of the restaurant. We sat next to the stage and the music was great for dinner, not too loud, just perfect for conversation. Our server was attentive, maybe could have asked if we wanted round 2 of drinks, but that's a minor thing. The food was very good, Dolce Gorgonzola and Bread Assortment to start. Burger and Potato Gnocchi for main course, and ice cream for dessert. The drinks were also excellent, one of the better Manhattan's I've ever had, and my Wife had the Little Richard, which was also very tasty. I would heartily recommend Icehouse to anyone looking for a great night out!
Excellent service. If you haven’t been to eat in awhile, I suggest you return. Our food was spot on. Flavorful and open minded inspiration. Superb.
The food was very good. The portions were just enough so we weren't too full after dinner, but satisfied. Would like to try more of the appetizers next time. Our waitress was very helpful in explaining the dishes. Overall a very cool dinner spot. Our son had taken his girlfriend there for dinner and recommended it. Glad he did!
Service is absolutely great. The food is ok... only ok
Love Icehouse every time we go. I'm a vegetarian and kind of a picky eater but I always find lots of things to order and they've all been great. It's my husband's favorite restaurant out of the many places he's been to.
We love the live music at dinner mmmm?mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The entire experience was fabulous. Great food great service and great music! We’ll be back often.
We visited Icehouse for my fiancé's birthday. Our original reservation was for 6 people, but as more people were able to make the event (11 total), I had to call several times to change our reservation number. The staff were incredibly understanding and accommodating. We had amazing service, and everyone raved about the food and the drinks. The birthday dessert was fantastic, not to mention the amazing live music. We will definitely be returning here :)
Great time. Service, food, drinks, everything was lovely.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Love the attention to the details; I had the venal ribs, my wife had the gnocchi and we shared the brussel sprouts... everything was yummy.
Wait staff is incredible, management is incredibly friendly, food is phenomenal, atmosphere is the best in MPLS, and even though they were slammed they still got our food out almost immediately, which was perfect as we were in a rush. Favorite spot in the city, 10/10.
It was a New Year's Eve early dinner out. Naively surprised by limited prefixed menu, overpriced at $55.00 for a salad, main and dessert. Best value was carafe (1/2 bottle) red house (tempranillo) at $11.00. Food was excellent, best goat cheese ever on a beet salad. So so Love chocolate dessert. Somewhat small mains, but risotto possibly best in decades. 4 younger people seated next to us, then left before ordering, I presume due to unexpected options &/or pricing. Again, New Year's Eve and pricing not always so steep based on prior visits. Service was appropriately nice and attentive. Atmosphere clean, roomy, not stylish if trying to impress.
My Icehouse experience was outstanding!! Starting with their employees who answered the phone and helped me change my reservation, to our amazing, charismatic waiter! All around 5 star experience. We will be going back!!
Live music was great. Kids enjoyed. Food and service was outstanding
Great food, cocktails and music. This is obviously run by true restuarant pros!
Took our son to Icehouse for his 21st birthday. Very memorable. Had a great time.
Great date night. Excellent food and cocktails, live music and great service!
It was delicious! Many options for different dietary concerns.
We went as a small group for brunch which was great as we could talk but still appreciate the live music which is always different but unique and fitting for the atmosphere. The brunch cocktails and food are well crafted - unique but not as if intended for novelty. It’s foodie food - quality, seasonal ingredients, well thought out flavor combinations, minus the pretentiousness I’ve gotten used to when going to other hot brunch spots. It’s just good food and an easy, comfortable atmosphere. When super hungover the P&E sandwich is amazing. If you want to really switch up your typical bloody get the Laphroaig. The escape velocity is coffee and Booz topped off with a perfectly excessive amount of whipped cream. No other place in the cities comes close.
Fun venue to see live music and have brunch. Excellent wait staff, fabulous food! Too bad more people weren't there to enjoy Joe and Vicki Price. The most awesome blues duo!! It was a very small crowd..... but we had a great time:)
Food was only acceptable--one meal came only luke warm and had to be sent back. They just microwaved it. I expected better from a restaurant that is rated very highly. This was my first visit there and I will probably give it another chance.
Very cool place, it was our first time there, food was excellent. We ended up going back the next night for the live music and it was a lot of fun. We'll definetely go back next time we are in Minneapolis.
Food, service and music we're great. No cover charge to see excellent musicians, and the volume was perfect. Loud enough to hear all the details, but could still hold a conversation see the table.
Loved the show with Tina and Molly Maher. Please: more early shows! We can’t come at 10 but we will come often if you have shows at 7. Thanks!
We came to see the bands on a Sunday night. Great ambiance and service. Our waitress had a lot going on but was still very friendly attentive even though we were just getting apps and drinks. The food and drinks were really good, a little pricey but not by Uptown standards. The music space was nice, and the sound was loud but not overwhelming. Overall, we had a great experience.
For being in the eat street/uptown area you would think they would have more vegetarian options. They don’t have any non-dairy milk. And for brunch there is only one vegetarian option. Copperhen is way better choice .
Had tickets to Msp Children’s Theater. Within walking distance, so super convenient. Although it’s probably more if an “adult” venue, they do have a children’s menu and my kids thought the good was terrific. Their “Ricky Sparkling Lemonade” was especially a hit with the kids. Our server was especially friendly. Nice menu selection, and food was very tasty. Would like to go back on a late night and enjoy their live music stage!
Staff was friendly and food was tasty. Salted caramel macaroons for dessert were delicious
It’s a great place to catch a show. The menu is somewhat limited and not for picky eaters. I enjoyed the food, but my companion clearly did not. We had a tough time finding mutually desirable menu items. And not a salad in sight, which was odd. All in all, I like Icehouse, but I don’t go for the food.
Brunch with live music but we could still hear to talk. The food and music were great!
Our server never introduced herself. She would walk by and look at an empty glass and keep going until you had to stand up to get her attention. She never asked how we would like the steak prepared. Wine was ordered with dinner, to be served with dinner. Half way through dinner she came by and asked if we would like our wine yet. Really? Still took another ten minutes to get the wine we ordered thirty minutes previously. Steak was over done. No steak knife. Continued to have to get her attention for a beverage refill even though she would walk past a half dozen times and look at the empty glass. She asked to be paid before we were done because she was getting cut and that someone else would be taking care of us. No-one else ever showed up to our table. Not once.
I am not a picky patron and dine out often. Everyone is entitled to a bad day but this was ridiculous. Probably the worst service I have ever had. This is also the first review I have ever written. I expect more for a two hundred dollar dinner. Do yourself a favor. If you are going to go watch a show, have dinner at Nightingale first instead.
The cheesy grits and scone were were delightful. Brunch music by Michelle Kinney and Chris Cunningham-amazing!
I’ve eaten at Icehouse many times and the food is always excellent. I had the King Pao cauliflower for the first time and it’s so delicious! I’ll definitely be going back for that dish!
Our server was so awkward and uncomfortable that it made the dining experience lesser than it should have been.
Food was way too expensive for what you actually received. I left hungry and my wallet was emptier than i wanted it to be.
Pathetic food for the rave reviews this restaurant receives. Service is very friendly as seems to be typical of Minneapolis, and the music is a lovely touch, but the full order of duck pasta was about 3 oz. of duck plus noodles the whole portion of which fit into a 2" high by 5" circle - a tiny bowl section of a large plate. $24? For 50 cents worth of pasta and a small bit of duck? Me thinks not. I asked the waitress to confirm that this was the full portion - yes - so I suppose a half portion would be the size of a bowl of salsa you get with free chips. The pork belly was horrid; I've never had pork belly so dry and stringy in my life! And I've had a lot of pork belly. It had no fat to speak of, which is one the main things that makes pork belly anywhere else so juicy and savory - with a thin crackling skin on top - but in this case, the "crust" was half of the meat itself - no skin by the way - with the other half being passable, but definitely un-pork-belly-like. The waitress said she'd never heard of the complaint of its being dry before and that dishes like their brisket ends or whatever it was called is hard and people like it that way. She was unable to get feedback from the chef nor was any compensation offered for this travesty of a dish. I definitely do not recommend this place for its food. A poor experience other than the friendly but unhelpful service.
Matt and Brian have created the most unique dining and entertainment venue in the Twin Cities. The food is absolutely some of the most creative and flavorful you will experience here and the music venue is unsurpassed, even by some of the larger arenas.
Great menu, knowledgeable staff. Food was truly delicious, craft cocktails were creative and enjoyable. A great spot for date night/a special night out.
