I have the lamb chops and broccoli rabe for my meal. They were tasty and done perfectly. I would recommend this place to anyone.
We were in Tuscany just a few months ago and this was every bit as good as anything we had on our trip. Just an outstanding restaurant!!
I used to avoid I Ricchi at all costs due to a snobby and less than gracious hostess I en ountered over several visits. She was, in fact, downright rude. I Ricchi has now become one of my favorite restaurants. I returned after avoiding this place for a few years and have found the service to be extraordinary, the food outstanding...overall a very delightful place. I am so pleased I was coaxed to giving it another try.
Awesome service!! Wine and food as well
Very nice dinner, but some of the food was disappointing. The veal Milanese was a bit salty and was just OK. And one person was disappointed with their Bronzino. We had calamari and wild mushroom appetizers, both of which were excellent.
Unfortunately, it was the time of the cherry blossoms and the restaurant had overbooked for 7:15-7-30 seating, so we had to wait for our table, even though there was a two-top open when we arrived. The hostess was curt and told us to wait, even though, as I said, there clearly was a table available.
The server was very apologetic - unlike the hostess - and the food was good.
Our server, Carlos, made the evening. His impeccable service attended to every detail. He never interrupted or intruded, but he managed to anticipate our requests. He made fine recommendations, too. My dear friend and I were able to eat beautifully prepared food while really talking. It was well lit, but not glaring. It was busy, but not loud. The food was classic, and updated, not trendy and weird. We absolutely will be back. Thank you, I Ricchi!
I DO NOT GIVE PERMISSION FOR MY NAME OR ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO BE USED
Food was amazing and the service was outstanding, highly recommend!
Lu, our server, did an outstanding job! He is the best!!!
Food is fabulous, had scallops salad, homemade pasta, lamb chop and tiramisu; bread is also superior.
This was our first visit, but will not be our last. This is such a comfortable setting, with attentive staff. We received excellent recommendations for both food and wine. Each item ordered was perfectly prepared and presented. Really an outstanding experience.
Sayiid--need I say more? He is making a name for this restaurant. The rudest meanest most insulting and condescending waiter we have encountered in 30 years of fine dining. If the wine bottle had not been opened we would have left. The four of us (one daughter lives in DC; the other in Manhattan) determined not to let him ruin our evening and mostly succeeded but we will never return. He sneered when our daughter inquired about gnocchi (none; yet later we saw it on the menu); he served the lamb RAW when my husband ordered it medium well (despite his recommendation for medium--seems like punishment). My husband did not send it back for more heat, leery of further punishment from the kitchen. Apparently, the problem is a dislike for tourists who don't tip and I note most bad reviews (including Sayiid by name) are from Groupon or deal holders but we were not. We tipped the standard 20% anyway but none of the four of us will ever return. Unfortunately, it was my idea to go there, having been many years ago when the restaurant first opened and it was wonderful. Certainly not the same (food was good except the raw lamb; service was good except for the insulting behavior of the waiter, which did gradually improve; ambiance lacking in open noisy room). My cousin who lives in Bethesda said he does eat there but ensures through the manager that he will not be served by Sayiid and one other waiter whose name escapes me. Is that any way to run a restaurant? No.
There were 4 of us who went out to celebrate a birthday. We always enjoy iRicchi and did Sat night as well. We let them know we were celebrating a special occasion and lastly the bartender Eric seemed out of sorts and grumpy. Overall we had a great evening and will definitely go back...but a little fine tuning might be needed.
Our first time & we were truly impressed. We loved our meal, the appetizers, salad Capri & fried calamari, both unusually delicious, my veal Milanese was divine & my husband had home made pappardelle with rabbit sauce, sublime. We will definitely go back!
My wife and I split three excellent dishes, and the restaurant was gracious to do so. We began with the buratta, which had grilled zucchini as a side. We followed with the tortellini with sage butter, which was excellent. Lastly we split the pan fried veal chop, which managed to be crispy yet still moist. We splurged on the tiramisu and cheesecake. We dined early, so we had the bar to ourselves at 6 on a Friday for a before dinner drink. They moved us to our table at reservation time at 6:15. Service was spot on. The restaurant was mostly full when we left around 7:45.
Great experience and food. Our waitress was outstanding. You knew the menu well and offered excellent suggestions. I will certainly return.
Cozy setting. Pasta excellent as was squid starter. Other dishes so so. Fish special had little flavor. Very noisy party of 20 people hung at bar for 45 minutes making it almost impossible to talk in the main dining room. Service warm and welcoming.
Lovely traditional Italian cooking. Food was very good not excellent. Waiter didn’t need to recite and describe every single item on the menu. We can read.
I had difficulty assigning stars in each category. The hostess was courteous, the waiter rushed us through the entire meal. The food was well prepared but substitutions were made because they ran out of the main ingredient. When I called attention to it they did adjust the bill which I appreciated but it was a deliberate move, not a mistake and I felt it was disrespectful, as was the rush to get our order in. When someone makes a true mistake I am willing to overlook it but I won’t go back in this case. They have a table card saying they are recognized as one of the best Italian restaurants in the world. We have never been rushed like that anywhere in Italy.
Tonight's dinner was a wonderful experience. Food choice and quality was excellent and service was extremely attentive. Prices were reasonable. You don't get this type of experience for this price very often
Four of us (two couples) had a birthday dinner at I Ricchi, fairly early on a Saturday evening. We had never been there before but had read a good review. The food was outstanding, every course and every dish. Our only advice is to avoid the tall chairs which are much more uncomfortable than the shorter chairs.
Excellent dining experience!
The dining was wonderful. Our waiter, Lou was terrific. The owner/chef spent time with us which made the experience very memorable.
The food and service were very good. I loved the octopus appetizer and my lamb chops! The prices are a little high for entrees, but if you can get a group-on it's a great deal!
We returned to eat at this restaurant having previously been a repeat customer probably a decade ago. Very little has changed in terms of decor. We wondered whether the owner will ever redesign the interior space. The food was excellent, and the service was attentive although clearly dedicated to “recommending” the most expensive items on the menu including the “specials.” Indeed, listening to another waiter serving an adjacent table, it was interesting to hear the push for the same dishes. Bottom line: food was excellent but the prices beyond reasonable even by DC standards. Traditional cocktails at $19 and a simply grilled fish at $39!! So we will return sometime in the distant future when there is a special event or we are dining with an important client. And hoping that the restaurant has been updated.
One of the best in DC. Consistently good food and service.
Server was extremely pushy and not too friendly. Not felt welcomed at all
This is a difficult review.
The pasta was superb.
The chicken was inferior. The waiter later stated that he knew it--so why didn't he say.
The waiter: he threw the pasta and chicken at us during the same time.
The wine by the glass was excellent and a good value.
The branzino and the shrimp risotto were both outstanding!
Lovely meal in a such a great space. The calamari is just as amazing as we anticipated and the fist - perfectly cooked. Great service is always a bonus!
I'm almost afraid to write what I thought about i Ricchi because I don't want it to get SO popular that I can't get a table there again. So, I will write a restrained review of a phenomenal dining experience. This is one of the best restaurants in DC. The food is SO extraordinary and so beautifully presented in such an unusually quiet and pleasant environment. Terrific place!
We loved our dinner a I Ricchi on Monday, March 4. The welcome was warm and polished, the service was knowledgable, helpful and not intrusive. We shared the 3-meat meatballs with soft polenta as an appetizer - my husband simply inhaled it! He reported the mountain trout from North Carolina to be very good, as were my grilled lamb chops, done to a perfect medium rare. The lamb came with a tasty side of green bean sautéed with mushrooms and garlic - also very tasty. And the desserts, the tiramisu that Tom Sietsema calls the best in town, and a soft chocolate meringue with frozen chocolate mousse and raspberries were both delicious. We will definitely be back to this welcoming place!
As always, i Ricchi provides good food and service. Especially appreciated that we were served cocktails and the waiter/kitchen held the food until we had finished our drinks and could have a glass of wine with the meal. And no whisking the plates away from one person before the other was finished. Just a good dining experience.
Very disappointing dinner. We ordered the branzino and was told it was de-boned. There were several bones left in the fish, and it was embarrassing to keep reaching my fingers in my mouth during dinner, to pull out bones. When we informed the hostess, she just laughed and said, “we’re not purposely trying to kill you...”.
They charged us full price for the meal. We will never go back here again.
Food was good not great. Service was very good. Wine list was shallow and wines were not stored properly. This was only my second visit to this restaurant in 15 years. I tried it again based on a Tom Sietsiema recommendation of places to try again. It was not much different than I remembered from 2004. There are many better restaurants in the city.
Unfortunately one of our meals was entered incorrectly by server and needed to be replaced; other two diners were nearly finished with their dinners when third entre was received. Made the best of it though it dampened our experience just a bit. Otherwise, a lovely evening.
First time at iRicchi. Impeccable service and excellent food. Loved it.
Wide variety of Tuscan dishes, all perfectly prepared and presented. Friendly wait staff who did not try to upsell. Lovely dining room, quiet enough for conversation. Scallop appetizer, pan fried breaded veal "chop" and marscapone cheesecake were the highlights.
The waiter was too abrupt and we felt rushed
Fantastic lighting and manageable noise for good conversation. Absolutely delicious food, esp. octopus salad
