Southern
Husk Savannah, the fourth outpost by The Neighborhood Dining Group highlights the unique ingredients of coastal Georgia. Located on W. Oglethorpe St. in the heart of Savannah’s Landmark Historic District, the restaurant is situated on what is known to be one of the most haunted blocks in the city. Originally built in 1898, the building has a vibrant history and plenty of (ghost) stories to share. The cuisine of Husk Savannah upholds a strictly Southern philosophy – working with local farmers and purveyors for a menu of exclusively Southern-grown ingredients. Tried-and-true techniques of seed-saving, heirloom husbandry, in-house pickling and charcuterie programs by the culinary team are the basis of Husk’s offerings with a menu that changes seasonally.

Food was delicious; service was fine. Our section of the patio didn't quite measure up to an otherwise excellent experience; the ceiling fans were out so we were accompanied by a couple of oscillating fans. Presumably this will be fixed soon enough. And it so happens the windows next door bounce sunlight right in your eyes at points, so bring shades if you are dining late in the day.

Food was not edible. Duck very gamey and steak had silver skin on. Thankfully we weren’t charged for our inedible meals. Caesar salad and cocktail/wine were good. Ambiance good. Meal took over 30 minutes to get after ordering. Will not return.

Food was not Southern cuisine (a surprise to us) and very funky and strange. It was otherwise well-cooked. The service was very slow. It appeared that the bartenders and wait staff were not working very hard and probably not well-trained nor supervised. The cook staff appeared to be short-handed. For example, there was a 45-minute delay between the time the appetizer and main course was served. We had to request the check from the waiter. For a relatively pricey restaurant, Husk did not meet up to normal expectation.s

We love Husk Charleston and thought this would be similar. It was so disappointing, from the food portions to the ambiance. It doesn’t feel like Husk, just profiting off the name. Ordered biscuits as an appetizer and it came out with the meal, ordered the duck and got the two smallest slivers of meat that were so dry and chewy it was almost inedible. I don’t mind small plates but as an entree it’s really an inappropriate classification. My husband got the grouper and it was dry. There were no grains or starches with the meal just a small protein and veggies. The fairytale eggplant had so much anise it made my mouth numb. Maybe they have good cocktails and appetizers but I was pregnant and all the apps were raw or contained unpasteurized cheeses or raw eggs so I couldn’t try them. I don’t know if we didn’t get good service because we were dropping serious $$$ on cocktails, but we barely saw the waiter and it wasn’t that busy. He walked past us several times to connect with other tables near us and passed by our table. All in all don’t waste your time, go to Charleston if you want to eat at Husk.

Amazing experience while in town for business. Highly recommend the Husk Bourbon tasting. Sat at the bar and sampled a lil’ bit of everything from the oysters, yellowtail, cured meats plate the biscuits and the black grouper. Finished things off with a coffee and some sorbet. Great staff, extremely friendly and helpful while making me feel like a local. A+

This was our first time dining here and it was exceptional in every way. Service, ambiance, food -- all five stars! We were seated upstairs in the historic ballroom area in a very comfortable booth. We were a party of three and started with a dozen oysters -- absolutely delicious and a beautiful presentation. We also ordered the tuna sashimi appetizer and it was equally wonderful. For entrees, one ordered the grouper and two of us had the trout. Can't say enough good things about the food. Everything was so fresh and artfully prepared -- we all agreed that this was probably one of the best meals we've ever had. Cocktails were creative and delicious as well. We split one dessert, which we had our server (who was fabulous) pick for us since everything looked so good, we couldn't decide. It turned out to be another home run -- a lovely pie-like tart. Just amazing. Overall, a completely fabulous experience. It wasn't cheap but you get what you pay for.

We arrived and were promptly seated upstairs. We had a small table in a room with three larger tables and another couple of tables for two. There was one full table and a couple at a small table when we arrived and soon after we were seated two other couples were seated at two of the other large tables. Our waiter did a good job handling us all but there were some delays. We ordered mock tails and both were good. Our starter was the charcuterie and the cheese boards--excellent-- lots of flavorful selections made especially fun by the house-made mustard, pickles and jam. After that we both ordered grouper. I found the fish to be overly salty. The fish was cooked well and the Serrano peppers, orichette, okra, corn and mushrooms that came with it created a wonderful combination of flavor. Selecting a forkful of fish along with the other items cut the saltiness of the fish but a forkful of the fish alone was just too salty for me. For dessert we had the key lime chess tart and the sorghum sundae. My friend was disappointed that the tart was much more chess pie than key lime. I tried a bite and agreed. The sundae, however was quite wonderful - a combination of flavors that is difficult to describe - little bits of popped corn and crushed vanilla wafers with ice cream and a berry sauce-altogether quite pleasing. I looked on the drink menu but did not see the after dinner drink I often order, B and B liqueur. I asked the waiter who was unfamiliar with it, but said he would ask the barkeeper. Soon after someone brought up the drink and presented it to another table who refused it and it was then offered to me. Right away the color seemed off and a sniff of it proved off as well. I sipped it and it tasted like a straight brandy. The waiter removed it and said they had "made their own". I wish I had been told they did not have the liqueur. The table next to us was so loud conversation was difficult. Our bill was around $180 before tip.

This is a must go restaurant in Savannah. Make your reservation so that you can be spoiled. Caleb took the time to describe our choices to us. They were chef’s take on our favorites. We met the wine curator, Jamie, who is so passionate about his craft. I will always ask what is your favorite. If the staff is eating the food they can describe it in detail to me.

Our experience here was excellent. The food was great. Our server was attentive and accommodating, he was very knowledgeable about the menu - he made sure I only got pasteurized cheese on the cheese board I ordered as I am pregnant and he ensured my fish was thoroughly cooked. We ordered the cheese board with baguette (pasteurized variation), grouper and trout. All of it was great. The cocktails and mock tails were also delicious.

Truly professional service (attentive, not hovering; entirely knowledgeable about all offerings; kind, calm and happy, while not trying to be the entertainment). The Sommelier (Jeremy) was exceptionally knowledgeable and nuanced in this age when everyone with a weekend training course wants to call themselves a (fake) Som. The kitchen was perfectly paced. All dishes were inventive, capably presented, and real (true to the locally sourced ingredients). We love Husk (both Charleston and Savannah locations).

Absolutely delicious place to eat. My boyfriend and I ordered the tomato salad, Dan Dan noodles, Trout and Pork mains along with a couple of cocktails and I couldn’t fault anything. My personal fave was the tomato salad - perfectly fresh and the combination of peaches and prosciutto was just gorgeous. Service was great and attentive (I’m sorry I do not recall the name of our waiter but he was excellent). We were able to sit at the bar afterwards - I would highly recommend the Shady Lady cocktail and they also do a great espresso martini. Beautiful interior as well, we will return for brunch next time!

4 of us arrived at 4:50 for a 5:00 reservation after getting numerous reminders! It was 92 degrees outside & HOT! The hostess would not unlock the door until exactly 5:00 to allow us to stand in the foyer in the air conditioning. Needless to say, this was not a great start to our gathering! 🥵 The girl who seated us was appropriately apologetic. The setting is beautiful, and the booth was perfect for conversation, but the menu was more limited than I remember. 2 of us had the black grouper & it was delicious, but a small portion for $39 entree with no bread or side salad. I ordered ice tea & waiter brought me iced coffee! Again, apologies given & ice tea delivered, but he said something like, “that explains it”…made no sense to me. No refill offered. 2 of my friends ordered the scallops and said it tasted just ok, but the presentation was beautiful. Savannah Husk, you need to open your doors to your customers when you have 3 employees all standing inside just waiting to open at 5:00! Where is our southern hospitality?
