Poor service, but manager jumped in and salvaged the dinner
We visit New York every year and always schedule a night at Hunt and Fish. It’s our favorite restaurant! We love everything about it.
We’ve were seated in their back room which is very plain and doesn’t have the atmosphere and vitality of the main dining area. Our service was poor - our waitress would disappear for 10+ minutes, got two of our orders wrong and we had to ask for salt & pepper, a soup spoon and a second glass of wine multiple times. The food was good not great, the deserts were excellent. It has gone from our favorite restaurant in NYC to one we will not return to.
Amazing restaurant in every single way. We will be back!
Service while ok, the overall service had many missteps with timing and attentiveness.
Make the reservation, well worth it. Everything was incredible!
When it’s busy, it’s very busy. Great place for an evening.
First steak came out burnt done. I ordered it medium rare. Waiter took it back brought back a steak that was literally uncooked. I'm well aware of how a steak should be cooked. This was so rare it felt like the cook was mad at me for sending the first one back and was punishing me. I actually wanted to keep it but they took it back again. And brought me back a steak now blackened on the outside and dried out. I said please bill me for the steak and promise you won't feed it to anyone else.
Bartender John was engaging and the food was outstanding
Excellent service. Food was delicious. The only negative is the tables are extremely close together.
Great ambience and service, delicious food at very reasonable prices and proper cocktails.
We visited H&F on Thanksgiving Day. I was concerned they might be short staffed or maybe the staff really didn't want to work on a holiday. Quite the contrary. This place is great. The staff and service were exceptional and the food was wonderful. We had a great time and really enjoyed our holiday meal. I definitely recommend.
Elegant restaurant. The ambiance was pleasant.
Great service, food and drinks. Decor was really nice and all the food came out piping hot. I ordered the scallops with Mac n cheese and the spicy broccoli Rabe. I loved everything
Service and ambience was great. We were disappointed with the food. We were really looking forward to it, and we were incredibly disappointed with the the meal. Everything we had was drowning in vinegar. The swordfish arrived and it looked like it was in an interesting broth. Instead it was a tremendous amount of vinegar. My husband ordered the pork chop which was raw inside and was also in a vinegar bath. The brussel sprouts and Lemon potatoes were also drowning in vinegar. They were very nice about it and took back the pork chop to cook longer and it arrived dark pink inside again. At this point we were over it and asked for the check. The manager was very nice about it and took it off the check. I don’t remember the last time I was so disappointed with a meal from a nice restaurant. The service staff was excellent, and the ambience was wonderful. A shame about the food.
Everything was wonderful. The staff was outstanding and the food was fabulous. Huge portions. My only complaint is the music! You should be playing more peaceful, calm dinner music… The music was geared more to young people who can’t afford to eat there!
Loved the desert. Management was very accommodating.
HFC is one of my favorite restaurants, however, the last time I visited was in February 2020! I am so happy you are not a COVID Casualty! Thank you HFC and Jorge for making ourThanksgiving Day experience a memorable one. The traditional Thanksgiving plate was super delicious!!! The Chef’s Salad was also a gastronomical delight! My daughter and I had such an amazing time. Oh… GREAT PLAYLIST!!!!! See you again before 2022!
I felt welcomed by friendly staff, kind of rare these days. So of course the food tastes better
The ambience was nice. Our waiter was so nice , sweet and helpful. He knew the menu. He checked in often. The wait time was great. Overall great experience.
Some of the best food I've ever had in. Beautiful restaurant
This is elegant dining in a beautiful setting in the middle of the theatre district.
Food was exceptional. Service wasn’t the best.
Server didn’t proactive bring fresh diet cokes when he saw ours were getting low, we have to ask 3x (when we wanted a new one). We were up charged for one entree and not made aware and was also charged for a drink we didn’t order. Wait times were ping for the server to return to our table so we didn’t bother with adjusting the bill. I would not go back. Many other places to dine at in NYC
This was disappointing overall, largely because those of us who ordered filets (3 of our party of 6) found they came out overcooked. The steak needs to be great at a steakhouse of this price-point; it wasn't because it was cooked wrong. Beyond that, lobster bisque was good (not extraordinary). Of the sides, the creamed spinach was very nice as were the mushrooms; the tater tots were disappointing -- not as good even as fast food tots. The desert menu was limited and uninspiring. Cocktail was quite good. Overall, I will not be back.
Over priced low quality food with terrible service.
A MUST GO! WOW! Thank you to the staff or should I say a family of people I Love ::::::::::::::::::) I've never been in a such a friendly, caring and hospitable restaurant environment. Now let talk about the stuffed lobster, perrrfect and lord the bread alone is enough to return, EVERYTHING is worth the visit to NYC. Thank you to my Buffalo family in the V.I.P. section, whoo hoo! Truly appreciative of the great folks we met from Buffalo, awesome people :) A special shout out to the family/staff who provided me with a lovely candle lit dessert. Until I return, Salute!
The food was excellent as expected. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. I like to try new things, so I ordered bone marrow, which was delicious, but since I wasn't sure exactly how to eat it I ask one of the staff and she was kind enough to explain to me. The hostess was incredible. She started the whole experience on the right foot for us.
The best cocktails I’ve had in the city. The waitstaff were beyond amazing as well.
Excellent food and outstanding service. I would highly recommend before or after a Broadway show.
Solid meal. Attentive staff. A drink order took longer than the server liked ( I didn’t complain it was a jammed packed Saturday Sometimes you have to wait), so she comped them.
Restaurant is decorated well with beautiful lighting and fixtures. The food was good bit not great. Th portions are large and presented in a tasteful manner. It is extremely loud. I didn't find the service poor, but it was not in line with the overall restaurant vibe.
The perfect pre- theatre! Excellent food and service and not too touristy
Perfect environment for special occasions. Service and food was amazing. Definitely recommend 👌
Server knew we had to get to a 7pm show. We ordered or foos in plenty of time - but we’re waiting for our main courses to be fired. My meal was an app and a salad so I was not waiting - but they were delayed in getting our food to us. Main course came out with little time to spare. And they kept getting flat and sparkling waters mixed up in the glasses. Manager came over and was polite and wanted to offer us dessert- but we had to get to a show. We appreciated his efforts. Then, our server came out and blamed us for the delay saying, “I understand you were stressed about getting to your show.” Food was ok. Don’t recommend.
Superb. Very nice dining experience. Food was awesome, particularly the Filet Migon and Ravioli. Service was better than great. Tight spaces for seating but still very nice
On vacation we had passed every evening and it looked inviting, on our last night made reservations and it was absolutely stunning.
Ambiance is very romantic and the food was delicious. We had the seafood salad as an appetizer which was incredible. My only drawback was the porterhouse for two is labeled $72, but they charge you each $72 for $144 charge. That should be on the menu, thats deceiving.
The restaurant itself was lovely, great seating and ambiance. Server was very friendly, however the food was not pleasing at all. The music was so loud it was as if we were eating in a loud nightclub. Very disappointed for the amount of money we spent.
We stopped at this amazing hidden gem after a Broadway Show. This establishment is the epitome of elegance, class and professionalism. Everything was absolutely amazing, delicious and perfectly prepared. Service was impeccable and the overall experience will always be a favorite memory. Highly recommend
Honestly very disappointed in the overall time here. The service was absolutely awful and the food came out dramatically late. However the food wasn’t too bad but 100% not worth the service/price. I would never eat here again if I’m ever in New York. Also it was my birthday dinner and they literally didn’t even acknowledge me or say anything. Not trying say I deserved any type of recognition but I have never been to 5 star restaurants for a special occasion and not been treated with an acknowledgement on that occasion. Really really really poor time. Will not be going here again.
