As usual food was delicious and service impeccable. A real treat
Our first visit to this restaurant was very positive. Great service and ambience. Excellent food, large portions (more than we could possibly eat!). Conveniently located in the theater district.
Average food at best, nothing special. Service was good.
Service was fairly bad, inattentive and when we asked for pepper, it never arrived and when we asked for our leftovers to be boxed up solely to avoid them going to waste, they were thrown out and then I had to STOP them from just deciding on their own to make more - the whole point was to avoid waste, not increase it.
While the food was delsih I couldn't give 5 stars because i sent back my tequila and soda because it tasted like tequila and water and was brought back the same flat drink. When i told her it tasted the same i was met with a shrug and an oh well...My hisband ordered dewars scotch and they were out of dewars.and couldnt come up with a comparable???? We both had ribeyes...perfectly cooked. The spicy broccoli rabe was not too spicy. The lemon potatoes may be the best potatoes i ever had! Roasted to perfection. The popovers were cold and doughy inside but herb butter was good. I had planned to have the chocolate cake but we had ordered the shrimp cocktail 2 huge shrimp that came with not only cocktailsauce but a spicy aioli sauce. Yum. I couldnt finish steak and sides. The sides are.really enough for 4 and we were just 2.
We probably wont go back.
Good food. Tables were a little crowded and the noise level was very loud. Had to sit next to my wife to have any conversation. It’s is pretty expensive but worth what you pay.
Restaurant had a good atmosphere, clean , friendly staff , limited menu options especially for special dietary requirements. Food quality was very good , fresh seafood and vegetables. Would try it again.
Tacky decor and music. Meat was fine but not exceptional compared to others great steakhouses in the city.
First off the H&F Club has none of the venerable old-timey ambience of a New York Steakhouse. Which would be fine if the food compensated. And there's the rub: my rib eye -- my waiter's recommendation -- was ordered medium rare and came practically raw. The potatoes were average fare as was the creamed spinach. This is sub-average dining at superior prices. I would stay away.
Great midtown spot. Food is delicious. Good drinks. Excellent service. Our server, Isabella was wonderful! Will be back!
The Hunt &Fish Club seems to have slipped a bit. The service and the food was much better on our previous visits.
Great atmosphere, and wonderful food. Pop overs were a pleasant surprise! Lighting is very unique. Will highly recommend.
Everything was delicious! Appetizer portions were actually fine after eating 12 oysters and the bread and butter. The service is outstanding!
Food is mixed. If you order the scallops, tell them to go easy on the salt. I would have sent the dish back to the kitchen, but I did not want to disturb the ambiance in our group. The prices are high, giving the "value" rating a "fair." I told the waiter I did not want him to refill my wine glass, and 10 minutes later another waiter appeared and refilled it before I could say anything; for that, the service gets a "poor." I know you want us to buy a second bottle, but don't be so obviously mercenary about it, OK?
A fantastic food experience, Service was fantastic, Food was amazing.
Strongly recommend to any foodie that loves a good experience.
The seafood was to die for and the Steak was cooked to perfection.
If you like sweets save yourself for the chocolate cake.
Best food in NY by far... Service is outstanding and amazing food. We will be back again tomorrow
Service was terrible - rushed and could over hear two staff members speaking rudely about other guests.
Messed up order. Wine wasn’t cold
Staff were moving tables around and playing with measuring tapes. Waste of money. Steak was meant to be medium rare, it was char grilled black on the outside
We enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner. Our server Rosa was excellent. We had a boneless ribeye but the treat was their signature 2.5 pound baked lobster stuffed with about a pound of crabmeat. It was very expensive but very delicious. Most prices were consistent with other high end steak houses. The 24 layer chocolate cake is a required dessert but be prepared to invite 3 friends to finish it.
Kitchen was fast. Server not interested in us, even though we did bottel of wine, appetizer and dessert. Scallops were very salty and swordfish was meh.
What an evening! Our first time in and I absolutely would not hesitate to give them a perfect score. We're in NYC for my wife's birthday with our evening beginning at the Hunt and Fish Club. Our waiter was outstanding, the sommelier was friendly and extremely helpful (we enjoy wine, but are hardly experts), and the food.....perfect score. We had a wonderful time and can't thank the entire establishment for all of their efforts. 6 Star Experience.
Wine list very overpriced. We live in the Sonoma wine district and know the pricing and quality of comparable wines. You need to adjust your pricing because it does not match the quality of your wine list. Also raise the lighting a little-can’t read the menu or wine list without a flashlight. Mood is important, but REALLY!!!
The restaurant is good but expensive They first attempted to sit us at a table just inside the room. Why would I pay $900 (4 people) with tip to sit in a drafty busy table? I asked for another seat. Service was at first slow in getting our drinks but then improved. I had a great steak and I was generally satisfied.
Was great all around
Compared to last year when we visited, the food has really gone down hill. There was nothing remarkable about our $650 meal for 4 people. The tater tots were amazing, but quite honestly everything else was just ok. Very disappointed.
Great before a show!
Delicious food and drinks, expensive but very enjoyable. It does get very loud, the music should be toned down for dinner and conversation.
Lost is the dining experience, as most restaurants today boast a gimmick or a fad. However, at Hunt & Fish Club NYC, you are catapulted back into time, a time where the dining experience is just that...an experience. From the moment you walk into this portal in time, all guests are treated as VIPs. The service is sensational, the food impeccable and the experience unforgettable. I have been going to H&F for years, and will continue to be a frequent patron. It is worth the time...and the money.
Excellent meal before theater.
Wonderful experience from beginning to end. Professional greeting, seated promptly with reservations (arriving on time), attentive service, excellent steaks, mashed potatoes and roasted brussell sprouts. Ambiance was very nice and the noise level was fine (high ceiling) considering it was during the Holidays and the room was full. The price was in a reasonable range considering the quality of the overall experience. Will come again for either lunch or dinner, and can easily recommend the Hunt & Fish Club to others.
Food was cold
Steaks way too salty
Waitress never told about specials
Spent $2000 for a group of 6
Food and service was average to below average
Would NEVER go back again
Feel like I was ripped off
This was a birthday dinner and it absolutely met our expectations. Had stuffed lobster which was delicious (although probably should have asked the price ahead of time). The noise level was very high because of the number of larger groups rather than couples which didn't allow for easy conversations. But we would definitely go there again on any return trip to NYC.
There needs to be a curtain between the bar area and the dining room. It was absolutely too cold for the tables by the doorway.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The menu offers excellent choices and the service is dependable.
Food very good but they sat us late. We had a 5 PM reservation and had theater to catch. Caught up the time by rushing out dinner even though we were not finished with our salads. Ambience beautiful though
Everyone working here was beyond professional and proud to do their job. The food was phenomenal and although the restaurant didn’t have an empty table we did not have to wait long for our food at all. Everything came out perfect and our waiter -Carlos, was the best
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening- a great classy place
Proposed to my wife
Beautiful place - service and food absolutely outstanding.
