My husband had the scallops and a brie salad- loved them both! I had the gnocchi and it was outstanding. My dessert was very good but it took a while to come out because it was so complex to make. I can't remember the name because it had many ingredients but I do remember it had cheddar ice cream in it.
Overall good experience. However one guest ordered the lamb, which was burned and overcooked. The second lamb came out nearly raw, but the guest had already waited 20 minutes for the re-do, so he made do. Saurebratten was very good and the service was fine.
It was all good except my spinach salad was missing it's warm bacon dressing.
Returned after a three-year hiatus and were pleased. Some of the staff remembered us, which is always nice. The owner came to our table and chatted a while. The food was delicious, and the tapas selections were adequate. Looking forward to dining again at the Glen Gardner Inn in the near future.
The red snapper entree was excellent, however my wife's veal tips this time were a bit disappointing - tough and fatty - unlike on a previous time when they were tender and excellent. Would still recommend Glen Gardner Inn for a fine dining experience. Service is always excellent.
we said " lets give it a try, we have lived here 24 years and never until this moment have we even thought about dining at the Glen Gardner Inn.. Wow we were surprised the food was great and the ambiance was such that only in traveling to New England one might find this kind on dining environment . If your ready for a surprise, surprise yourself !
Excellent entrees, excellent cocktails and perfect service make the Glen Gardner a favorite of mine.
We've eaten here a couple of times before, but it seems like something may have changed. It has been been declining with each visit. It took forever to get our meals. There was no children's menu, so we had to order pasta with butter for my daughter. Instead of getting it with our appetizers, it came after our meals because it was "overcooked". We waited so long she fell asleep. My steak was dry and my mashed potatoes were dry & crusty. The fish was undercooked. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement.
I made reservations at the last minute on open table but when I got there they were unaware of my reservation. Next time I'll just call. We were able to be seated though it was right by entrance and the bar. The room was very chilly at times. Food was very good and servers very friendly. Will definitely go back
Excellent food and great service. Not a place for young adults (bit of an older crowd), but great for special occasion, family or group events-- or if you want a great homemade meal in a cozy setting.
We are new to the area and were pleased to find this restaurant in the quaint town of Glen Gardner. The service was excellent as were the rolls! We liked the option of getting small plates for entrees, so my husband and I picked four items and split them. The lamb chops and scallops were great, although the sea bass and butternut squash ravioli's might have tasted better by themselves. Overall, very good choice for the area.
This is an intimate and quaint historic Inn which the owners restored faithfully. The standard menu was well enough but the specials were unique with some wonderful choices. They also are a full pub with many brews and a fine wine list. The server and the support people were phenomenal. The food was of the highest quality and every mouthful was an experience. They use locally grown ingredients and it shows in yhe oustanding flavors. I had the Sea Bass that was done to perfection with a perfect balance of flavor and texture. The Roasted Chicken was so moist and cooked perfectly which left us with a wonderful experience. The Strawberry Shortcake was the finale which finished off a perfect evening. We will be regulars!
Consistently excellent - every entrée choice I have had at the Glen Gardner has been excellent - my scallop entrée was far better than any I have had at Jersey shore restaurants. This is definitely one of my 3 top restaurants in NJ.
I am amazed that the Glen Gardner can consistently serve such excellent entrees. It is one of my top 3 restaurants in NJ.
I have found the Glen Gardner Inn to be consistently excellent in food and service. Their red snapper special was, by far, the best fish entrée I have eaten this year - thin, moist, flavorful, and well accompanied for a perfect meal.
The Glen Gardner Inn is always great! The food is consistent. I would like to see a little more variety in the menu, otherwise we are always happy with the food.
Once again we have had an excellent dining experience at the Glen Gardner Inn - the food, service and ambience are all consistently excellent.
Have had consistent quality dining with perfect service at the Glen Gardner Inn.
Have experienced consistently excellent food and service at the Glen Gardner Inn.
Consistently excellent dining. Both my duck breast entrée and my wife's salmon were prepared and served perfectly. The entire meal was an enjoyable dining experience - - from the cocktails and wine, to the excellent friendly service. White tablecloths, a fresh rose and lit candle on the table add to making it a romantic dining spot.
We had been there several time but not over the past year. So decided to go for a night out. Cant remember why we stopped going there. Food and service great in a beautiful setting. No complaints. I had the scallop appetizer while husband had the beet salad both were great. The main course for me was the duck breast (cooked to perfection) and my husband enjoyed his ravioli very much. Will be returning soon.
We were seated promptly and the staff was attentive to our needs. We enjoyed the appetizers and main course of sea bass. The wine was reasonably priced. Dessert was very good and was a fitting end to a very nice dining experience.
This little gem is off the main Road, but on an old inn. Warm and inviting. German type food and THE BEST DUCK BREAST In New Jersey.
The folks here have the right idea. The noise put me off when entering initially, but after we were seated the amazement began. Our selections were all fresh, flavorful and demanded our completion! Scallops wrapped in bacon with spinach and gruyere was truly inspired. This normally perfect dish was taken beyond perfection by adding the cheese and bright green leaves. The beet napoleon was a savory and sweet melody of beet, mild goat cheese, orange and apple. Butternut squash ravioli with sage cream sauce was light and boasted several texture within pockets of perfection. Duck breast with cranberry and pear chutney was exquisite and was cooked to my desired temperature.Desserts were wonderful as well. Beer and wine selections were great too!
Right from the start the night was good, we had an excellent server named Peggy. The french onion soup was delicious, my Dad's favorite soup and he tries it in every restaurant in Hunterdon County. From the appetizers of coconut shrimp and mussles to the unbelievable seared scallops and good sauerbratten. Desert was apple strudel, should give it a try if you have room!
My coffee was hot (yeah) but honestly, I had a chocolate martini to die for!!! Thank you Glen Gardner Inn for a very enjoyable evening with my 87 year old Dad!!! The rest of my family is eager to try the Inn and I look forward to a return visit.
Have had consistently excellent dining here - now I am slowly working my way through their entire menu with excellent meals.
Have experienced consistently excellent food and service at the Glen Gardner Inn. The table setting with white tablecloths, candle and a live rose also gives a romantic ambience to the dining experience.
Consistently enjoyable dining experience at the Glen Gardner Inn.
This was my first time at the Glen Gardner Inn. The food was excellent in taste and presentation and the atmosphere was charming. The service was excellent too. If you like historic inns with great food and service you will love this place.
Consistently good food and service. Outstanding seafood specials with quality and freshness.
Consistently good food and service. Always an excellent dining experience.
Consistently good, high quality, food, drink, and service. Once again I had another excellent dining experience.
Perfect Dining Experience - delicious selection of food that was prepared and served perfectly, excellent cocktails and wine, great desserts and a relaxing atmosphere.
Had an excellent relaxing dinner - food was prepared perfectly, they had a nice selection of wine, and service was top notch. Though located a bit of distance for me, I will definitely return for more of the same.
