Humperdinks - Arlington Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I were in town for a visit and came in to eat. There weren't a lot of people in the place so there were a lot of waiters standing around our table laughing and cutting up with each other rather than working. We ordered our meal and our waitress didn't ask us if we wanted a salad with our meal. So I had to call her back over and ask her to add a salad to my meal. The food wasn't bad but we didn't have our drinks refilled. When the bill came I noticed that I was charged $5.00 for a side salad. I knew that it was only supposed to be $2.99 so I asked our waitress and she said, well it was because I ordered the salad after she left the table. She went to ask her manager who appeared to agree that it needed to be reduced, but when I got the bill back it was higher than it was originally. He said well your waitress forgot to charge you for your Tea so I added it to the bill. I was floored to say the least and it was almost comical that he was that unprofessional. I will NEVER return to your business and I will go out of my way to be sure that none of my friends or business associates do not give you any business.
It was very busy because most of the people there there to ride the shuttle to the Ranger game. Service was a good as to be expected under the circumstances.
I was sent a text that my table was ready and we already had place our food order,
drinks.... so I think there must have been a slip somewhere.
In town visiting and was in search of a local place to enjoy a lovely salad. Our waitress Taylor was very light bubbly and most importantly pretty attentive to our table.
I ordered the Humperdinks Steak, which I thoroughly enjoyed. They prepared my steak correctly to medium and all kinds of tender. My friend, who's a diabetic, ordered the Apple salad and thought the salad was amazing with the raspberry vinagerrette but you might want them to go a tad easy on the dressing because it is on the sweet side and they could've gone just a tad bit easier on the amount of dressing that they mixed into the salad.
Came from out of town to go to the baseball game. We always eat here and usually it's very good. Unfortunately, things have changed since our last visit. The menu seemed to have gotten smaller and there was less to choose from. The waitstaff has also changed and not for the better. They were forgetful, slow and had an uncaring attitude. Also, the whole restaurant smelled like fish. We will not be returning.
Why such a poor rating? Because Open Table or Humperdinks allowed us to make a 9:45AM reservation; the problem was, they do not open until 11AM...and it was Mother's Day. Note sure who is at fault, but you would think when the restaurant saw a 9:45AM reservation in the book they would have called us and let us know they do not open until 11AM. That's poor management and lack of concern for the guest in my book.
Our first time trying this place. Went here for my best friend's 30th birthday before an evening Ranger's game. It was full but we were seated right away. (Table of 4.) It took a while to get the first order, but after that drinks and food came out at a decent rate, considering how packed they were. Prices were very reasonable. Only had loaded cheese fries as food, and they were good. Shuttle to the Rangers was way easier than parking, and quick! Will definitely be back!
Atmosphere was friendly! Waitress was not familiar with the menu, she said she was new employee. However, she was attentive and nice. Steak and eggs dish was delicious. My wife's greek chicken salad chicken was too spicy and too much dressing. Overall, I rated it good choice, 4 out of 5!
I made a reservation through open table and despite receiving an email confirmation, I was told that the restaurant never received my reservation. Once I showed the email to the hostess, I was told that Humperdinks does not use open table and that the reservation would have needed to be made via phone or in person. Humperdink's website has a reservation link that sends you to open table. If the restaurant would remove this option then this mistake can be avoided, in the future.
My wife, our two children (3&2) were on vacation & our rule is no chains or anything we have in our hometown. We were reviewing nearby options and this seemed like a good mix for everyone (we had 6 in our party, a vegan & the kids). When we arrived, the outside seemed like a cool restaurant with a Brewery atmosphere.
Our waitress came to get our drink order and we ordered 3beers (a porter, an ipo & cider beer all from the draught selection). The waitress then came back & told the table there was an issue with their keg lines and only a few of their beers were available (yes a Brewery with only a few working keg lines). Side note to mgmt: you should have somebody available that knows how to fix this at all times or send a busser to the liquor store to get some replacement bottles or cans for your patrons.
The menu has quite a bit of selection which also means they may not be exceptional at a few things but rather mediocre at multiple things (think Cheesecake Factory ). The shrimp appetizer was good but an unoriginal replica of Bonefish's bang bang shrimp. Steak was overcooked and served cut in half with two pieces, like the chef grilling it needed to check to see the degree of temperature (that shouldn't have hit the table). When the waitress took the steak back to recook it, he was left with nothing for about 10 minutes while everyone else ate, which is awkward for him (next time at least bring a fresh side or a salad to prevent this.)
We came in at 7pm and there was hardly anyone there so the kitchen should not have felt overwhelmed. I know it sounds like I'm just complaining about everything but when you're on vacation and you want something you can't get at home, the last thing you want is a poor experience. I also know that it's hard to find a place that has good food, service, and a kid friendly atmosphere. But it can be done. If nothing changes, hopefully I've provided some coaching opportunities for mgmt. Or helped ease a vacationing diners' decision.
