# Humo Restaurant - 3/5 Stars I really wanted to love Humo, and there’s definitely potential here. The food was solid and our server was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. The menu has some interesting options and the flavors were well-executed. However, the dining experience was significantly impacted by some serious comfort issues that management needs to address. The sun was absolutely blazing through the windows during our dinner, creating uncomfortable glare that made it difficult to see without squinting. Combined with what felt like inadequate air conditioning, the restaurant was uncomfortably warm - not what you want during a Tucson summer evening. The noise level was also problematic. Conversations at nearby tables were difficult to avoid overhearing, and we found ourselves raising our voices just to talk to each other across our own table. These aren’t small details - they’re fundamental comfort issues that really detract from what could be a great dining experience. Tucson summers are brutal enough without restaurants making it worse for themselves and their customers. Some window treatments, better climate control, and acoustic improvements would go a long way. I’d love to return because the food and service show promise, but I can’t see myself coming back until management addresses these environmental issues. For a restaurant in this market, creating a comfortable atmosphere should be just as important as the food itself. **Bottom line:** Good food and service held back by poor attention to basic comfort needs.

Overall, the food and service were very good and I would highly recommend based on the great quality of the meals for the reasonable prices. However, the ambience was not the best. We sat outside on their patio with our dog (dog-friendly restaurant!) and I had to spend the entire meal trying to prevent her from eating the trash all over the patio ground. A few crumbs here and there is understandable, but there was food all over the ground from who knows how long. There were also straw wrappers, plastic bottle tops, and piles of scattered sticky goop that stuck to the bottom of our shoes. Not to mention, there were flies EVERYWHERE. The patio is very small, so expect to be sitting on top of other people at the surrounding tables. We love being able to sit outside to eat, but I would not go back to their patio unless they did a better job cleaning and got rid of all the flies.

We loved everything about Humo Cocina Mexicana. The food, the service, the music, the ambiance, and the drinks. Free refills on horchata! I wish I could remember our server's name b/c he was terrific. I left 20% and was wishing I had left more. I would have gone back to do it but we had to fly out the next day.

The old adage of "You can't judge a book by it's cover" was never more true when it comes to this restaurant. It may not look like much from the outside BUT the food and service was beyond great. The Chile Rellenos were the best that my wife has had in our 20 years in Tucson. The tamales were exquisite and the Flan was a great way to finish off our meal. It is definitely a must if you're hungry and in the neighborhood.

This was our first time at Humo--liked the menu & reviews. It was a fun experience and our waitress, Paola(sp?) was terrific! The food was delicious, with large quantities, so left-overs were a plus. We'll be back!!!
