They are understaffed. For the price you’re paying (55-90$ entrees) the experience is just not there.
Grab a sushi roll and a drink or two while you enjoy the beautiful atmosphere both in and outside. Other than the rude women at the front desk (initially) it was an excellent experience. The dumplings were appetizing and the chocolate soufflé was worth the wait!
Had to leave literally 5 minutes after we sat down. There was way much shorter version of the menu which was promoted online. Also, the table we got had no view and was towards the wall. I don’t see any sense to pay 90$ for steak with no menu options and 0 ambiance around you.
Sadly, we were sat outside and it was very windy and uncomfortable
Our appetizers were delivered quickly, but were cold and as if they were made ahead of time, we ordered the calamari and Brussels sprouts
Because of covid, I still gave it 3 stars because our fish was good
For the price, I would definitely choose another restaurant next time
Delicous food, excellent service and incredible view!
Amazing food. Amazing table. AmazIng view.
Great food and service. Ample portions and amazing fish
Great service! $311 for 2 adults, 2 kids. A little pricey, but we did order 3 apps and dessert with our 4 entrees. Kids have a great 3 course dinner for only $17. The ambience is nice and casual, resort wear.
Braised short ribs, miyosaki butterfish and calamari appetizer were a hit. The shrimp ceviche and dumpling appetizers were ok, nothing spectacular. The ube cheesecake was good and tasted like real ube, but I wouldn’t necessarily order it again.
After trying several of Roy Yamaguchi’s restaurants, Roy’s La Jolla/Anaheim, Eating House 1849 (Waikiki), I’d say Humble Market Maui had superior customer service. Roy’s is slightly better in food, but it is a different restaurant class. Humble Market isn’t as formal as Roy’s, so it’s a great option for a nice dinner out.
Cameron was our server. We were traveling with our new born and he made sure our food cleaned out quickly and even boxed up our dessert when our little one had a meltdown. It was easy and convenient to eat here staying at the Marriott. The swordfish was great either way herb or potato crusted and we really enjoyed the sides.
Great from start to finish. Wonderful server made it special. Highly recommend it.
Love the food here. Not inexpensive, but first rate. Our server was great. Front of house staff was less than welcoming and their attitude was unexpected. Almost caused us to walk out. Glad we did not.
30+ min wait for table even with reservation and also part of a hotel package and manager did not acknowledge or take responsibility. Rude floor manager, argued about Covid lack of staff and labor - - talked over me, condescending and lack of basic quality hospitality principles - accommodate the customer as much as you can. Servers/wait staff were excellent and food was great.
We had a wonderful meal at Humble Market Kitchen last night. I had the herb crusted fresh catch that was seasoned and cooked perfectly. My husband enjoyed the potato crusted local catch. We also enjoyed the pork shumai and the ceviche’. Our server Cameron was very friendly and enthusiastic. Considering the staffing shortages and COVID restrictions, he did a fantastic job. We could have used a water refill or two and we were 3/4 of the way through our meal before he checked on us, but again, I believe this was more due to circumstances and not really poor service. I only mention it so that others have reasonable expectations of what they will encounter. Everyone at the restaurant was clearly working hard under difficult circumstances and we were very happy.
Food was good but not amazing. Large portions, but overpriced. Service was good, very attentive. We had a nice view of the ocean and impending sunset.
We waiting an EXTREMELY long time for our main course. We had 7:15pm reservations. Our salads we delivered approximately- but our main course wasn’t delivered until 8:50pm.
Our server did a good job-as far as we could tell.
No explanation- server just apologized. Was very disappointed.
Premium food, perfectly balanced service, and a picturesque setting.
Beautiful setting, delicious food, excellent service.
Server was super nice. Free valet parking. We are staying in a condo so it was fun to walk around the Grand Wailea! It’s beautiful. We loved the food, especially the sashimi (bigger pieces than expected) and the molten lava cake.
Amazing food for breakfast and dinner as well as drinks. Well worth the resort prices.
Family friendly restaurant.
This was our third dinner at HMK. Our experience earlier this year and two years ago were great, and we were looking forward to this dinner as the culinary hi light of our trip. It was a huge disappointment. We had two waiters
competing for our order, and each repeatedly pressured us to order cocktails, surprise when my wife ordered a large appetizer as her main course. They completely mis described the braised rib dish. The food took over an hour to arrive, but much of it had been ready for a long time. My daughters past was visibly cold and becoming stale and they never brought her the ice cream included in the kids meal. The braised rib was lukewarm at best and tasted more like pastrami than beef. The meatloaf was good and my wife enjoyed her brussels sprouts. All in all,it felt like there waiters and kitchen personnel were new to their roles and not adapting well. We were ver
Excellent hospitality! Greeted quickly upon entering and seated right away! Our server was amazing and was very attentive to our needs. Food was HEAVENLY!
Really overpriced for mediocre food! We don’t mind paying higher prices for quality food but we found the lamb to be basically all fat! The server barely came around, we had to hunt her down! However the hotel it was apart of was very pretty and we enjoyed taking pictures at the swings!
This was an amazing meal with a perfect view of the sunset. Our servers Anthony and Anna took amazing care of us. We left perfectly satisfied. Such and amazing date night.
We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and vow renewal. It started off a little rocky with no server in sight, but the manager took over and got everything smoothed out for our special evening. Our waiter was great and attentive, the food was excellent and we felt it was a successful celebratory dinner for our vow renewal.
Overall disappointed with our dining experience. We had an 8pm reservation and were seated promptly. Server took several minutes to get to our table and take the initial drink order. She was polite, but seemed overall busy or like she had worked too many hours. We would have ordered appetizers and probably an additional drink if she came to our table more or was at all conversational. Honestly, we could have been at any Denny's and had the same perfectly fine service. We were here a few years ago and had a really great experience and meal which is why we came back.We also had breakfast on our last morning in Hawaii and that was a really good experience and food. I would wait to go here until the COVID-Hawaii vacation rush is over or until they get fully staffed.
We were very excited to try Roy Yamaguchi’s new concept in humble kitchin. We decided to go for our anniversary which I noted in the reservation. We arrived and the hostess asked if we were allergic to anything and I said cilantro. We were seated at a table and our server came over after a short wait. My husband ordered a cocktail and she proceeded to tell us that most of the dishes on the menu we would not be able to order as they all contained cilantro. Really ? The fresh fish was swordfish which we do not eat and the other fish dishes all contained cilantro. We couldn’t order the appetizer dumplings as they also contained it. We ordered the fish sampler appetizer so it is too much fish to be an appetizer and it is all thickly cut. It needs rice or something else with it. That was $34. We ordered the butterfish without the sauce as it contained the cilantro. It was just ok. That was $55. We didn’t order dessert as we were so disappointed with the ambiance and the food selections. They never even said happy anniversary. What a huge let down as we used to love going to Roy’s on the mainland before they shuttered them all.
Will not be returning and we come to Maui twice a year. Very disappointed
Good food and great service!
We were lucky enough to have Joe as our server. The guy is awesome, top shelf service.
Nice setting and ambiance.
Dinner was tasty, but the chocolate souffle was the best. We should have ordered two.
The waiter seemed like he was not all there, tired, or new, and barely audible. We had to ask repeatedly what he said. served items over our heads and didn’t have much “server etiquette”. Not the best waiter, but the busboy Jansen was awesome and should be promoted to server and wish he was ours yesterday.
Great menu, amazing food and perfect service. Overall quality was a step above the other fine restaurants we visited in Maui.
The Humble Kitchin’ has the food we expect from Roy’s and this one has the views! I was a little concerned that the restaurant was in the hotel, but when I saw the location and the views I was convinced that this may be one of our favorite Roy Yamaguchi restaurants yet!
Beautiful setting, to start with. Very slow service. Shared calamari was very good. Other entrees were okay. Server was a little snobby. I couldn’t understand why it took almost 40 minutes to get our entrees when one was short ribs (obviously prepared in advance) and one was sashimi, so not cooked at all.
We started out sitting outside. Shortly after we sat down a group of 2 couples and 6 kids were seated on either side of us - kids’ table on one side of us, parents on the other. Guessing ages 5-12. 2 “middle” girls were obnoxious, rowdy, knocking things off the table, etc. Parents mostly ignored / laughed it off. Obviously not the restaurant’s fault, but very annoying.
We asked to move inside, which was accommodated, but the kids’ table was still near us and it really diminished our ability to enjoy our meal.
The staff was very rude since the very beginning, the hostess was trying to give our table to other couple even that they arrived after us.
Not polite and very disrespectful.
We ended going to a different restaurant.
Celebrated our Anniversary at Sunset. Very good service and food was exquisite. Best fish I had on the island during vacation. Thank you for an unforgettable evening.
Great experience, food and service are awesome.
Food was outstanding. Service was lacking a little.
We were a little disappointed. The food was underseasoned, and the noise level was high due to lots of families and kids dining in the main area. Desserts were just not worth the price. Fairly small and just bland. Sorry...it just did not meet our expectations.
We’ve eaten here several times with the same menu, but the food quality keeps going down. Our server was great, but the food was down right lack luster☹️
