Hult's Ratings and Reviews
Our experience started by having to wait ten minutes only to be seated in a half empty restaurant on a Saturday night at 7pm. Why we had to wait when the place half empty, I have no clue. The fact that the place wasn't full should have been our first clue. The server was pleasant taking our orders and warned us that we should be prepared for a bit of a wait for our food because everything is prepared farm to table. Unless someone had to leave to get the ingredients from the field, I'm not sure why we were supposed to expect a wait for food, especially when the place wasn't full. The food was good, but nothing special and underwhelming for the price. My filet was served with three small pieces of asparagus and mashed potatoes piped into stars around my plate; not worth $48. Upon receiving the check, the waitress commented that she was worried we would be "sticker shocked" by our bill. If we didn't think we could afford the restaurant, we would've stayed home. Apparently we looked like we couldn't afford our meal in our business casual dress? Overall, this restaurant is overpriced for the value of it's food, staff, and customer service. Sad this was our first experience at a restaurant in town, and we will not ever be returning.
My food was delicious but very tiny. I had the pork tenderloin which were lightly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, sliced and served over a bed of pickled carrots (sweet and sour combo made a tangy party in my mouth) and some sort of puree. It was all very tasty and well-prepared but super small. I would call it more of an appetizer, in fact.
Nice waitress, good service, lovely ambiance, awesome bar and bartender but I felt the food was a bit underwhelming for the price. Next time, I think I'll try this for just the apps and drinks.
I dine here about once a month. I am an early diner (6ish). This place is consistent. The food is always the same high quality with good presentation. The waiters seem to be able to guage if you are in a hurty or plan on spending the evening. They bring your choices based on that
Last November I took a girlfriend to Hult's to celebrate her birthday and had such an unpleasant all around experience (food and service were the pits!!!) that it's taken me eight months to try it again. Although there was no adjustment for the miserable experience, last night's dinner was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant inside felt over chilled so we opted for patio dining. It was lovely evening and we were the only people outside for the first half hour but, one caveat: Hult's is on a busy corner with a four way intersection controlled by traffic lights so the stench of diesel fumes can be off putting as can be the traffic noise (motorcycles, etc.) The Swedish fish is my favorite cocktail anywhere and the pumpkin ravioli was delicious although the portion was small. My husband loved his short ribs with generous mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The waiter was very pleasant and made good suggestions. Service was spot on. So ... Hult's has been redeemed.
What a find .. recently relocated from Austin TX , a city I called home for 8 years and explored the food scene extensively believing I would never find anything comparable or better .. but this place ranks right up there .. very cool ambiance .. the food and the service was incredible .. definitely going to make it one of my regular spots in the Bay Area ... can't wait to try their Sunday brunch .. our server Eric was too notch .. great environment.. excellent wine (Zinfandel) and the food was delish.. they have a great thing going !
My husband and I went to Hult's for the first time -it was our anniversary. Had a wonderful meal: my husband had the elk which was fantastic and I had the Scallops which were cooked perfectly. Our server, Michael, was very attentive and helpful with menu and drink suggestions when we asked. They even brought us a beautiful dessert for our anniversary. Great experience-we will be back!
Your six course seasonal menu was outstanding. The filet mignon with asparagus wrapped in prosciutto was superb. The other four courses was equally distinguished. The molten chocolate domed dessert is one of the few desserts worth getting on its own. Finally, service is both informed and thoughtful. We will return once again.
We were late for our reservation. A drive that should have taken 15 minutes took 55 due to extreme traffic. We called when we were 6 blocks away saying that we would be late. The restaurant acknowledged that and said ok. It took 20 minutes to travel those last six blocks in an open convertible in 102 degree heat. The restaurant was offering mimosas, but we were too hot to drink alcohol. Food was excellent.
Overall, experience was nice.
The restaurant was empty when we arrived, yet we were seated next to the kitchen. They did accommodate our request to move. The drinks all seemed watered down. When we asked to have the alcohol delivered separately, they improved considerably. Our last problem was that we were celebrating 2 birthdays. I sent in the request initially when making the reservation, than spoke with the hostess and provided their names. She seemed to enter them into the computer. Somehow, the server wasn't aware.
On the plus side, we all found the found great!
My husband and I moved here about two years ago, and we've been looking for a replacement for our favorite restaurant since then. Our requirements were good food (preferably gluten free) and excellent drinks. Well, we've been looking, and we FINALLY found it. Our wedding was last week, and we really wanted an excellent meal with just the TWO of us, since we've had family in town and this was perfect. It was quiet (although we were there on a Tuesday, so...maybe that was why, can't speak for the weekends - yet!) and we were treated with extreme professionalism - no one hovered, we got good recommendations, and everyone was really discreet and friendly. I was also very appreciative about the way my service animal was treated - she was completely ignored, and no one questioned my disability. (She also behaved exactly like a service animal should.) I don't get that particular experience often, so I REALLY appreciated it. Oh, also - I loved the music. I know it was just the radio or something, but every single song seemed like one of my favorites! Okay, done gushing, but we will definitely be back. Worth every penny.
Came here for my moms birthday. Great place. A little noise due to the warriors play off game. But the boys in the party appreciated the game being on. Service and food was amazing! Owner even came over to introduce himself. Everything was great till they opened the patio door and the cigarette smoke .. well smoked us out. Awesome place awesome service!! Will be back!
Stopped for lunch with a friend. Very few tables but took a few minutes to be seated.
We started with the Philo wrapped Shrimp, very tasty with sauce and tangy Cole slaw. My friend got the beet goat cheese salad which is more an appetizer, my Spring salad was fresh though a bit small for an entree salad, which may be my misconception.
Service was so so with presentation lacking, but food was good.
I made reservation for outdoor seating and the waitress took me directly to indoor seating without even asking. I ordered truffle risotto for lunch and ended up with upset and gassy stomach all day long. I became nauseatic. I guess the dish is not everybody. I couldn't handle the level of creaminess of the dish.
Food was subpar compared to other restaurant in the same area. Unable to try Hults experience from the menu because it requires everyone on the table to do the same thing. Ridiculous ask.
Had the Rissotto, swedish meatballs, poke, beef au poirve, short ribs. Maybe we ordered the wrong dish but nothing really stands out.
Mentioned we were there for a birthday when asked but did not do anything special for birthday girl.
