I’ve tried to like Hugo’s several times and at the end of the day the food and drinks are creative. The service is average. The value is marginal. Overall everything is mediocre. I informed the hostess that i was celebrating someone’s birthday and to have the server do something special at the end of our meal. Nothing happened. This is a common request at most upscale restaurants in the DFW. I guess Hugo’s isn’t upscale.

I always bring out of town guests here. Upscale, eclectic ambiance. The cocktails are outstanding and their entire menu is gluten-free. Very convenient location to both airports, Irving Convention Center and Toyota Music Factory. Free street or garage parking.

I wanted to love this place---1st visit, cool vibe, energetic and the appetizer (pork belly) was amazing. Then, the evening declined. Waitress awkwardly pushed the table to order $50+ steaks---even though we had all selected other choices. Could have lived with the salesmanship, but then she ghosted our table. Waited over 20 minutes for a 2nd Margarita---still thinking that was not her fault, maybe a backed up bar. Meal came, we finished, dishes were cleared, no server. We actually wanted dessert, but she never came back. We had to flag her down and ask for our check, as we had sat for another 20 minutes. The final straw is she was now hanging out at the table next to us, showing them pictures on her phone for another 10 minutes...while we sat, 5 ' from her and still waiting for her to present our check. A member of our party actually stood up, walked to the table where she was telling stories and passing her phone around the table. He asked her to PLEASE provide our check (40+ minutes after dishes were cleared). She rolled her eyes and came back, set it on the table and left w/o saying a word. Not sure what was going on, but can't recommend this place. Mentioned to her twice we were celebrating a B'day, and not even a "Happy Birthday". Weird all around----I felt bad that I picked this place for a celebration. Unfortunately, you just can't have an "off night" in the service industry. Decisions are made.

Food great but service strange. Quiet night, ourselves and another table with reservations were seated quickly. We received chips and salsa instantly by a silent bus boy, but then NO WATER OR SERVER for approximately 10 - 15 minutes. Finally an older waiter came over to check if we were being served. We said no and he took a drink order from both our tables. He looked angry that we weren’t taken care of. Drinks were fast, but then we received a bottle of water with one glass? We occasionally saw our waiter when he wasn’t hanging out with the hostess and we were able to order food. We would flag down another passing waiter for further drink orders! Food was delicious though!!

Food was a little subpar and disappointing this visit. The octopus appetizer was good. The skate was rubbery, the brisket was tough and cold, and the red snapper was good, but for the price the entree was pretty sparse. Diego, was a great server! The tres leche cake made it all worthwhile!

Very poor service. We asked the server about his opinion or the constructs of multiple dishes, and every time he had to look at the menu for reference. He also couldn’t tell us much about his opinion, as he stated he hadn’t tasted much of the food. Easily the worst pork shank I’ve ever eaten. It’s pretty hard to mess up a braised shank, but somehow this chef figured out how to do it. Will never return.

The chicharon for an appetizer is a must! Blue corn flan is spectacular and one of a kind. We had the sweetest waiter that helped us make our first visit memorable.

The service was quite slow on the drinks. There were multiple times my glass sat empty for several minutes. Some sound deadening could make this a much better date night spot as it was hard to hear across the table. I don't think the items listed above can't be fixed or are deal breakers, just things that I think could be better.

Lunch on a Saturday was good. Waiter rushed us to order drinks after we had just sat down. Pineapple margs were tasty. Food didn’t blow me away but it was good and came out very quickly.

Hugo’s serves fresh, innovative Mexican fare that is clean and healthy. No bloat or indigestion here! One of my favorite restaurants in all of DFW. Highly recommend. We loved the weekend brunch menu, and all members of our party were satisfied with their meal.

This place was AMAZING! I came one other time and it's the most beautiful restaurant ever! I met some girlfriends for happy hour--the drinks were delicious and the ceviche was phenomenal. Dominic was our waiter and he was amazing. Will def be back!

Overall it was a good experience. Unique decor and menu, the chorizo hummus and corn masa pita was the best! My brisket tacos were delicious, the dynamite seafood elote lacked the creaminess i was expecting, but the tres leches cake was yummy. The corn flan was different but good. The server, Juan was good, but kitchen timing was a little slower then we expected. Loved the CBD margarita and the pineapple margarita. It was a little noisy, but we were there for an earlier dinner so it wasn't completely full yet. Worth a try for a unique yet tame spin on some Mexican favorites.

We were celebrating a birthday here super special occasion. Not once did I know the servers name. Young latina girl. Never got refills of water, our drinks took 30 min to come out. We ordered drinks before apps and our drinks came out when we finished our apps. Which is off cause we booked a Tuesday night not busy at all. We didn’t even see our server on the floor she was in the back the whole time. We only saw her 3 times, never asked how anything tasted or was. Our dishes came out all Seperate times, we asked for sauces like 3 times never came out. We’re eating dinner with a stacked pile of app plates in the middle of the table no prebus. Mind me I’m a manager at another high end restaurant. Worst experience for a restaurant with the price level of the food and drinks. She couldn’t even refil our waters once. Then she proceeded to add gratuity to our checks & we were only 7 adults and a toddler. & she never mentioned the tip was included & everyone at my table was going to tip on top on accident until I pointed it out to the table. Me being a manager you are supposed to tell your guest tip is included which she did not. So then I asked for the manager because this wasn’t fair to us. Horrible service for 20% tip? I didn’t mind but the fact she didn’t say it was included like she just wanted a tip on top. So I politely asked for the manager and explained all of this to him & all he said was I’m sorry there’s nothing I can do. Me being a manager this is how you treat your guest coming to spend money at your restaurant? Where is the hospitality This was a Tuesday night august 15th I will never be coming back here again.

I had a business dinner at Hugo's. We had a good dinner with good appetizers. The drinks we VERY slow to get to the table and the noise level was deafening. It was impossible to visit. There were only six of us, but we could not have a full group discussion.

I booked a business dinner at Hugos and it was impressive. My dinner guest was impressed by the ambience and service. Our server did a great job with keeping our plates full and glasses refilled. We ordered the red snapper, octopus , margarita and some beers. the plating of the food was excellent and the taste was equally good. It was good value for the money. All in all , I will definitely go to Hugos again.

I sent back the brisket tacos because of the tragic pineapple salsa. Also, the meat wasn't smoked at all. Chicken enchiladas lacked flavor. Overall it's trendy but unseasoned.

The kitchen lost our order and our waiter never noticed or checked so finally after an hour and a quarter, we flagged down our waiter to ask about our lunch. He seemed surprised but checked and reported our order had indeed gotten lost. No apology, no concessions, seemed like it was just “normal” for the restaurant. Will never go back.
