Hugo’s Frog bar is always “hopping” and features nightly live entertainment in our piano bar. Seafood is flown in fresh from around the world & delivered to Hugo's two to three times daily. The menu also features selected cuts of Gibsons’ Prime steaks.View Private Dining Details
Rude hosts and they ran us around the restaurant because they couldn't get their act together. Won't go there again anytime soon.
Hugo's is always consistent and the food was excellent. For the first time in many visits we were seated at our table at check in. We were very impressed with them honoring our reservation at the time it was promised. We cant wait to come back in April.
So delicious. We enjoyed our meal very much. The steak was cooked perfectly. The fish was so fresh. Service was wonderful. We were very well taken care of. It was very busy and the noise level was a but high but not much can done about that. We had made a reservation and arrived 15 minutes early but were seated right away. Lovely overall.
Food was mediocre at best. Service was excellent.
A terrific neighborhood spot for me and my family. Enjoy the ambiance.
Cork in wine is not acceptable. Server tried to serve it anyway, twice. Then, he was frustrated with me because I wouldn’t drink wine with cork in it. Testy rest of evening. It wa so comfortable and rude.
Always a treat. Hugo’s is one of our favorite restaurants ever.
We were excited to get a last minute reservation and enjoy the soup that is always raved about from friends. Ended up having clam chowder and the fish sandwich. Both were delicious. We will definitely return and enjoy some other items from the extensive menu. The restaurant was really busy for a Sunday evening! A good crowd!
Hugo’s, Gibson’s, the entire group of restaurants, are wonderful.
Great afternoon lunch date, very quiet, we had an excellent waiter by the name of Ky, he was very knowledgeable about the menu and sufficient. I ordered the crab cakes, they were amazing. My boyfriend ordered the filet mignon and lobster Mac and cheese. Everything was great, ask for Ky.
Reservations at 8, got seated at 8:45. Although food and service were good I will never go back. They should pay part of my babysitter fees.
Consistent quality food in a loud lively atmosphere.
Table wasn’t ready. We were told there would be a 30 min wait. We had a movie to see so we were put in a very small and inconvenient table. Waiter forgot our hash browns.
Very disappointed. Mr. Dooley was on vacation. Come from Dallas twice a year and have dinner at Hugo’s at least once but always come by for aps and drinks each time. Saturday with a half full restaurant at 6 and spending $300 at the bar before dinner we were sat right in front of the kitchen door. I will talk to Mr. Dooley in August when I return for the concert at Wrigley. If it happens again we will go elsewhere. Also, I will call Mr. Dooley when he returns from vacation.
We aren’t from Chicago but try to come here every time we are in town. It never disappoints us. The foood is always good. This last visit on Sat night was over the top good. The restaurant was packed but the service was impeccable. It doesn’t get any better than Hugo Frogs!
Definitely the only restaurant so far in Chicago that has the most attentive management staff. Managers were everywhere in the restaurant doing table visits and showing their customers they truly do care. And I have been to a lot of fine dining in Chicago, nothing even anywhere comparable.
The hostess was very pompous. Very off putting. We were there to spend ALOT of money and we had one of our party coming in a little late. She would not seat us and when I told her we would drink and eat she said to me, “ That’s not MY concern” very condescending. I will not go back there and after a $600 bill I should have been treated much better than I was.
1st time here on a date night and we we will absolutely be back. King crab legs and stuffed lobster entrees were outstanding. Bring a group if you're going to order the try and finish off the oreo cookie crust ice cream cake for dessert. It's monstrous in both size and flavor.
We had a wonderful time at Hugo's. The food and service are outstanding. It is a fun place with a lot of choices for dining.
Plenty of good steakhouses in Chicago, but Hugo’s is not one of them. My wife’s flounder was cooked perfectly, but my steak was burnt on the outside and undercooked on the inside. However, the bottle of wine made the meal edible.
As for the “happy birthday” being SCREAMED 15+ times throughout the restaurant during our dining experience... is that really necessary? Not sure how or why that’s been a thing for so long...
If you’re in the Gold Coast and want a good steak, skip Hugo’s (and Gibson’s - same ownership and same “happy birthday” gimmick) and go to a nice steakhouse like Maple & Ash.
Eat there whenever we come to town, love it and good menu items!
Always good steaks and fish !!! We come every time when we visit Chicago - good Vipe !!!
Great Meal and wonderful service
Server was awesome, but food was really disappointing. We had the escargot (just OK), fish and chips, and the grilled shrimp. I would stop for a drink at the bar, but the food at Gibson's next door was so much better!
Great place to eat and enjoy good drinks. The frog legs were outstanding. Will come again soon.
We had a party of 12 with an earlier reservation to avoid the dinner rush everyone enjoyed and all the food from steaks to crab was delicious .We will go back and dine again soon
Excellent food of course, but above all, superior and attentive wait staff.
We were a party of 4 in town for a convention. My first visit but won’t be my last . The food was exceptional and the service was top notch. We had a very enjoyable dining experience.
This is a favorite place to go. Service is outstanding and food quality is great. Salad house was nothing special. Would advise to enhance the salad. Best New England clam chowder the table ever had. Also fantastic tuna appetizer. All dinners were wonderful
Excellent food, atmosphere, and service! Would highly recommend!
Business meetings all day. Evening dinner was for relaxing with good food and drink. Everything was perfect, food, drinks, service, location and desserts.
Service and food was fantastic! When visiting Chicago again, Hugo's and Gibson's is definitely on our "go to" list!! We will definitely recommend both restaurants to travelers who are heading to the Windy City!!
Fantastic restaurant. My favorite in Chicago. The King Crab Legs are to die for. The desserts are enough to feed a family of four.
Great wine list. I from out of town, but I make this a regular stop every time I visit the area. You won’t be disappointed.
You guys are great..many thanks!
Overall a great experience. The greeting staff was energetic and welcoming, and our server Jonathan was fantastic. Very attentive and knowledgeable. The calamari and crab cake were on point. The only thing that was disappointing was my Porterhouse. I have been to Gibsons 5-6 times in my lifetime, and the Porterhouse from them is my favorite steak in Chicago. I just did not have a good steak this time. Really fatty cut of meat, and was overcooked from my Medium request. It happens sadly, but it still hurts when you pay $60. Overall, fantastic time.
We had an excellent experience from arrival to departure. The primary server was friendly and attentive. An additional server also helped out at one point. The Sea Bass was prepared well and the steak was excellent. The peas and mushroom side was really good. Great cocktails! We will visit again.
Service was great. Food was excellent. Only issue was that I was seated near the kitchen door. Not that big of a deal. Soup was as good as have had. My wife's entrée was the sea bass. It was excellent and I had crab legs. They too were very good. Great experience. Had Fun.
Had a group of 8 including an infant. First class service from moment we arrived through departure. Our servers were Joel and Andrew and they were pros. Excellent service and recommendations on cocktails, wine, and meal choices. This is the fifth time we’ve been and have had excellent experiences every time. Hugo’s is one of my top 3 places in Chicago to dine. Bravo!
Fabulous food and service, always a favorite!
