Good food, good service. Friendly staff.
The wait staff was very slow, even though the place was almost empty. We ordered a calamari starter, which was breaded, over cooked, and doused in a sweet, greasy sauce. I love calamari, but the three grown ups at the table couldn’t manage a quarter of the dish. My mother ordered sea bass, which was the only decent thing at the table, but cost $48. I ordered the 26 oz porterhouse, which was cooked rare instead of medium well. The sides were also badly done and overpriced. I wouldn’t go back there.
Love having lunch there. It's quiet and the service is friendly and excellent.
I have been here over a dozen times, the oysters are always fresh, the drinks are always cold, the steaks are always perfect, and the staff is ALWAYS amazing!
I must start with the food was extremely good. The manager tall dark skin man was very welcoming. Our waiter well he left much to be desired. He never asked us if this was our first time dining there. He asked what would we like to drink and I guess me saying just water and my husband asking what kind of beer was on tap made the waiter think we couldn't afford to be there. He said very stern "WE DON'T HAVE BEER ON TAP" My husband then asked what kind of beer do they have. He took my order stuffed flounder then my husband ordered the Porterhouse. All he asked was how did you want your steak cooked. He started to leave the table now him knowing nothing comes with the steak he didn't bother to ask what sides or which Porterhouse. So I told my husband to pick his sides he picked the mash potatoes and spinach. He walked away so fast so we called him back over to say the 26oz. Then I said I'll take a side as well never telling us the sides are big enough to share. The food came out perfectly cook. While eating I saw a waitress walking by with this tower of ice cream. So she said to me its an ice cream sundae. So when he came back to the table to ask if we need boxes I said yes. He came back with the boxes and a check. I said I would like some dessert. He went to get me a dessert menu. My husband said, "he's been wanting to bring that check to us forever". My husband asked for the men's room. He replied, "I don't know where it is" We thought that's strange a restaurant with no bathroom. But the bathroom was out on the casino floor. I felt like he didn't tell us because he thought we would leave without paying. Anywho out comes my ice cream sundae that looked nothing like the sundae I had saw. So he asks, "did you want the cherries and whip cream" I said yes he took the ice cream back and then dressed it up. I just thought it odd that he didn't ask when he took the order. Again the food was amazing, the manager who was very inviting but the waiter needs work.
Food wasn't good. For the money that was charged I could've went somewhere else. Overrated. Cream spinach was cold and horrible tasting. I will not go back there to eat.
The food is amazing. This is my second time going and I have yet to taste anything that was not absolutely delicious. I don’t think many people know how good the food is because it’s never busy when I go. I think they should definitely advertise more. The restaurant is nice and clean on the inside, with nice low lighting, live soft music. The only thing was our server was kind of sluggish but she was still kind and courteous though. If you haven’t already you must give this place a try.
Was looking for a decent restaurant but not super expensive. Didn’t realize from Open Table that the place was part of Sugar House casino. The noise level wasn’t bad. Food was pretty good. Filet was excellent. Lobster bisque fair. Wouldn’t get it again. Service excellent.
We have not been very happy with the food and service since Pino left. But that all changed this time! Food was incredible and Antoinette was terrific. If you are wanting a steak and not some piece of crap cheap meat, Hugo’s has it. Since we can’t fly to Chicago for dinner, this is the closest thing to Gibson’s!!
The music was a little loud in the bar area, but not too bad.
The food was superb Joseph my waiter was wonderful will be back very soon
Went for a anniversary with the Mrs. Had reservations , was promptly seated. Waiter was good, food came fast. Portions we're good. Frogs legs were delicious. Would go again, prices were decent.
Had some concerns about food but mostly service was poor never questioned price food came out at different times some not right questionable quality and wrong items , no service follow up for a 7 person business meeting. Hoping management makes it right since we spoke to them today will keep posted or update.
Reservation for 7. We were sat around 730. The food was great. Service was slow. Not sure if she was swamped or what.
Service was horrible and managers made no effort to correct once they were informed. Extremely disappointing as we used to eat there quite often.
We found the service to be sub par ... especially for a restaurant with such high pricing. The food was mediocre, at best. We saw staff everywhere but no one seem to know what they were doing. Steak was poor quality and overcooked and the cream spinach was more of a soup. A table of 6 next to us received all their meals for free due to such poor service and quality of food.
No, we will not return and would not recommend it to anyone.
The food was quite good. The services was friendly and professional but the very, very slow.
I would recommend Hugo's to all my frog legs friends!
Joseph was our server and was really good!
Fantastic food, always a great experience!
It is a cozy restaurant for a date occasion, the food is unique some items taste different from others but we enjoyed the food
The food took a really long time to come out and it was not busy. My husband ordered a medium well steak and it came out well done. He ordered a side of fries, they did not come out with his steak the first time. They didn’t even come out with the new steak. We had to ask for them twice. The server came to take our order and we didn’t have any menus. Overall it was not a great dining experience
The waitress should have asked what we wanted to drink before taking out dinner order. We had to order our drinks after she put in the food order. It took forever to get an unsweetened ice tea. Over all the food was good and it was a pleasant evening for dinner.
Might be a little pricey but the service was great, the place was very nice, and the food was amazing!
I was disappointed that the steak did not come with a choice of sides, not even a salad. The sides were in addition to the already over priced steak. The steak was charred on the outside but it was perfect on the inside. I would have preferred fresh blue cheese on the top of the steak instead of the processed cheese dip that came with it. The service was perfect with a minimal time spent waiting for the meal. I recommend the frog legs for a fun experience.
We were really disappointed with our visit to your establishment. It was my brothers birthday I requested cake with candles when making reservation but yet I had to keep reminding server so it end up not being a surprise at all. Next issue was our food was served cold my potato had cheese on it but it was one solid hard piece because it sat before it was brought to memy steak was overcooked . We had steaks and when they were bought to us we requested steak sauce took 10 minutes to get ...then we sat and waited and additional 30 minutes just to get the check . Our waiter was not good at all , he kept forgetting things like refills and even just to check to make sure we did not need anything. Our bill was $475.00 and we were not satisfied at all.
Food was delicious but the wait time could be better. Overall enjoyable experience.
Failed to acknowledge my wife’s Birthday even though I advised of her birthday when making my reservation. That has never happened at “any” restaurant we’ve attended for a special occasion. My sever was excellent however very pleasant and food was expected. I would visit again
Outstanding restaurant - loved the food.
Great service and food was great
Delicious food and upscale experience were great! But the prices were very expensive, too expensive for having to walk through casino floor.
Hugo's is our favorite place. All the staff from managers to servers to bus boys and food runners. we love the music on Thursday..Friday and Saturday. It is our place.
Hugos is a hidden gem. The ambience and service was outstanding. I cant wait to return.
Everything was awesome Service was outstanding food was amazing. it could not be better.
Great service on an extremely busy night.
Never visiting this area, we had no idea that the restaurant was actually IN the casino. This was a negative for us....but it may not be for others. We were a bit early for our reservation so we sat at the bar for a drink first. They had two young ladies performing pop songs in an acoustic style on guitar and piano. They were very talented and gave the bar area a nice ambiance. One noticeable thing was the amount of dust behind the bar. They have nice mirrors and decorative items above the bar...but the mirrors and items desperately needed cleaning (so much so my hubby noticed....and he doesn't notice dirt often). This type of thing bothers me because I can't help think if they don't clean out in the open where it is obvious to everyone....how good of a job do they do elsewhere where customers don't see? On a positive note the service was wonderful. From bartenders to hostess to waitress...we were impressed. Food was solid. Didn't blow us away, but also didn't disappoint. I had the sea bass and hubby had the crab cakes. We shared a side of spicy broccolini. No room for desert...but we saw a few pass by the table and they looked good.
Not sure we will be back....but not because it was particularly "bad" but more that it was not really our speed.
This was our 4th or 5th visit to Hugo Frogs at Sugarhouse. This has become our go-to restaurant when we want to splurge on a nice dinner. We are happy to see the restaurant is getting more crowded which means it will hopefully stick around for years to come! Service is great. The martinis are even better!
Tantalized our tastebuds! We tried the crab cakes, grilled pork chop and chicken with crab and everything was fresh, hot and great presentation. The biggest surprise was the Chefs Special Desert “Banana Cream Cake” which was large enough to feed at least eight people. Highly recommend giving it a try and we will definitely return.
Just average, service was poor, waitress nice but un attentive to our table. Was not offered
coffee or deserts I had to ask, wasn't asked how our food was until she came to clear the plates.
Great crab cakes. We took and extra platter home.
