Huey’s Southern Eats Ratings and Reviews
Food was GOOD. Pretty views and fun decor. But the noise level was off the hook! There were only about seven parties in the place but it sounded like a raucous birthday party. Outside was gorgeous but we thought they weren't serving outdoors. We learned this wasn't the case, so next year we'll definitely ask to be outside.
The food was okay, but not great. The server was slow and inattentive. My iced tea was old and tasted bad. I asked for a new glass and it was the same. I didn't drink any of it and never got a refill on water, even after asking. The server never inquired about our food and did not return for over 20 minutes. The place has potential but seems poorly managed. I wouldn't go back.
The food was ok, but the service was horrible. She started out ok, but once she had to work a second table it went down hill. My Wife ordered a second glass of wine but never got it, reminded her of this and chose to ignore this. We know we never received the wine because no empty glasses were removed all night, also she never filled up empty water glasses.
The thing that gets me though, is when I received the bill and she charged us for the extra glass of wine, she acted like it was our fault. She removed the charge, but had a real attitude problem and just dropped the bill on the table. If I could have found the manager I would have tried to get her fired. We go out to dinner probably twice a week and I never had someone the rude.
I have been to this restaurant numerous times. The food is very very good but the service is always lacking. Wild dunes needs to improve their budget for service staff and training to accommodate their members and vacation guest. They actually turned away a family of 7 with numerous open tables due to lack of staffing on Mother's Day.
Beyond the grits, the food was mediocre at best. The restaurant was empty and service was extremely slow as there was only one guy handling everything. We finished our meal and after waiting an additional 35 minutes for our check, we finally went looking for our server to request it. We won't be returning.
We were surprised to find this restaurant is simply the golf club concessionaire for The Dunes Resort. Not very impressive and very expensive for what one gets. My husband had the burger. It was just okay. I had the spinach salad. It was quite nice but the grilled chicken I had added was very dry and I couldn't eat it. Too many other wonderful options to bother with this establishment.
