Hudson's is a local favorite and an Austin iconic restaurant nestled in the Hill Country in Austin, Texas. It opened its doors in a private residence in 1984 with renowned Executive chef Jeff Blank.

The live music was too loud, even in the remote dining room. The food was so so. Loved the ambiance though. Wine prices were above normal markup.

I was there with my family for New Year's eve. Food was excellent servers were nice but not so attentive. I had to keep asking for drink refills and I was just having iced tea.

Hudson's Hill Country was great!! A true gem. The service was terrific, the food was exceptional with unusual fare and desserts, and great drinks. One of our new favorites!

We dined Christmas Eve close to the bar and were the only table in that part of the restaurant, which was very odd. There was a band and being the only table in that room, was a tad awkward however the music was nice.

The music from the bar area was very loud and inappropriate for the dining areas. Lighting in our dining area was way too bright but staff did turn it down, when brought to their attention. There was not the cozy atmosphere we had hoped for.
My venison was good but the side veg was almost raw. My husband did enjoy his duck but the Creme Brule desert was inedible. It had not set at all and was just liquid.

Experience was unfortunate and we will not be back.
We will miss this spot.

Extremely disappointed with our Christmas Eve dinner.
Although the updates were amazing, the wild boar and the duck were tough. The service, almost non-existant. The waiter didn't even know the appropriate way to cork and pour wine. I don't mind paying high prices if the service and food are worth it, unfortunately here they are not. So disappointed that we won't be coming back.

This was our second visit to the newly imagined Hudson's Hill Country and it didn't disappoint. I had the smoked duck breast with red chili glaze which was marvelous. The glaze added a bit of spice but didn't overpower the slight smokiness of the duck. My husband had the fried antelope steak which I tasted and it was quite good as well. Our waiter was very good and attentive.. The only downside was the lack of other people. It was also like that when we went there in the fall. Its a great place and for the kind of food that is served there the prices aren't out of line, so I don't understand the lack of other diners.

What a disappointment. My moth was watering for "Hot and Crunchy Trout". I ordered it and got something fried with a couple of small carrot slices, some mushrooms and very little flavor. Not even a Ghost of the original Hudson on the Bend. Forget it and go get a Sonic Burger with onion rings

This place is less than a shadow of what it used to be. From decor to food to especially service, it's just not up to par. Avoid it and spend your time and money elsewhere.

First time back at Hudson's in a long time and since the ownership change. Party of 6 for our company's Christmas dinner. That night, they had an elk special that sounded great, and 3 of us ordered it. The waiter came back a few minutes later to let us know that another party had ordered the last of it. Note that our reservation was for 6:30, and the restaurant was not very full, so it seemed strange to be running out of a special so early. However, the manager came out quickly and made things right with our party. In addition to his and the waiter's being extremely apologetic, they comped 2 nice bottles of wine and discounted the entrees for the 3 who had to re-order. Great customer service, and the experience in no way took anything from our enjoyable evening. By the way, the food and service were very good, and seemed on par with what I had remembered from long ago.

My husband and I took my 87 year old Dad with us to Hudson’s for their buffet on Thanksgiving Day. The food, decor, live music and service were outstanding! They smoked many of the meats presented on site in a large stone smoker. They served venison tenderloin, turkey, ham and salmon as meats. The food was delicious! We heard plans for future raised beds with vegetables and herbs to use in the restaurant. I was delighted to learn they have an outstanding female chef! The only con is that the wines, per glass, seemed a bit pricey. However, we will be returning, soon for their regular menu.

Definitely not the fine dining experience of the last owner. The food was borderline bland and the place was far too loud for such a small crowd. We had the rabbit dumplings, tiny and greasy, the smoked duck, cooked to the right temperature which is usually not done right but very boring in flavor, and the antelope fried steak which was a light fry but really lost any taste that would have distinguished it as a game meat. The staff was pretty uninterested in my wife and I. There were only about five tables but getting the servers attention was next to impossible. We also were stuck sitting super close to another table, which was very annoying considering the small number of guests and all the empty tables. Overall better than many restaurants but considering the fine experience we had u see the last owners we we very disappointed.

My first time back since they reopened. The lighting in the dining was way too bright. Didn’t feel elegant. Some of the food was amazing and some was just ok. Inconsistent. I’ll be back to give it another try.

After several visits to the new iteration of Hudson’s I think it’s best we try to remember fondly the original Hudson’s on the Bend and let it R. I. P..
This last visit we were a party of 4 and not one of us could believe the service nor the quality that was served to us.
At 7:00pm with a scant few in the restaurant how are you sold out of certain appetizers? How are you sold out of your signature dish? Understaffed on the floor and under-achieved in the kitchen it’s time to say goodbye!
Better to remember what was once a great place to dine!

We came for my husbands birthday and we’re not disappointed. Our server was Tiger, and he was wonderful. All the meals were absolutely delicious!! And we had a perfect wine recommended for our meal. We look forward to our next meal here!!

Our first time to Hudson Hiklside, and must say the food is amazing. We had the tea rubbed duck and wild boar lollipops, with the buffalo quail as an appetizer. Could not have been more impressed with the flavors. Our waiter was great and a pleasure to converse with. We highly recommend!

Finally got it right after Jeff’s retirement. The new design is very attractive. Like the bar seating with music. Very good meal.

Just did not have an A game. Appetizers served with entree’s, side dish at end of meal. Was not crowded. Friday night took 10 minutes to get drinks. Hudson on the Bend must be sad they still have Hudson in the name. Terrible experience

Excellent food and service! Great wine selections available as well. My husband had the wild boar, and I had the salmon—both were perfect. The bread that is made onsite is all very good. Only downside is if the restaurant is well seated, it is a bit noisy.

We had a fantastic dinner here. It was our first time back in a while, and it's a completely different place. The food was creative and delicious. We loved the scallops special with a blueberry glaze - the whole thing was very impressive and we had a much-needed quiet date night. Unfortunately we felt really rushed by our server who was a little too attentive, moving us from course to course. The place was half empty, so we didn't see the need for the rush. That said, we loved the remodel and will probably be back.

The decor, food, and service were outstanding. The prices were higher than average so we limited our invitation list. Our drive home took over an hour to travel eight miles. Unless weekends are better, we won't be visiting again for a long time. It's such a great restaurant that we hope you can overcome the problem of 2-5 mph. speeds on 620 heading north.

Food is good, service is not, venue is very loud. Restaurant was pleasantly full but not crowded. Took 10 minutes before we were asked for drink orders, then another 20 before we had drinks in hand. At 7:30 on a Friday night they are out of the venison?...and didn’t tell us when we received the menus, so 3 of the 4 of us who wanted this were disappointed. Need better planning, and communication with guests. Ordered chicken and beef instead, at a wild game restaurant - not why we came. Waitress forgot our starters entirely. Then brought them the same time as salads. Food was good, but steak was grainy. Waitress jumped into our private conversation which was rather odd and rude, when not invited. Remodeled space is very nice...place for live music inside and out. But spaces are very open and echoes so you hear your neighboring tables bouncing off the walls. Very uncomfortable - need some rugs or something to absorb sound. Notable too cold...we were all happy to get outside to defrost...expected a little more cozy warm from a wild game restaurant. Mixed reviews.

We haven’t been since it reopened and it was amazing. Food was delicious. Crunchy avocado app was great and I had the filet! Great Smokey flavor. Desserts were solid. Pecan pie was a great way to end the meal.

The smoked duck was tender and full of flavor. I was surprised just how well done the hot and crunchy eggplant was. The eggplant was cut thin but still maintained it's shape and bite with a perfect fry, not greasy at all, served on a plate of veggies.so many complementary flavors.
