The salads were good and the entrees were good too. Service was a little thin for the number of tables but this was the beginning of the Corona virus too so suspect the staff was cut back due to less clients. The decor reminds me of the Disney Grand California Hotel.
Food and drinks were awesome and the server was especially perfect.
The steak was very good and we love the restaurant as a whole. I had scallops before at this restaurant, and was disappointed in the size and the style of cooking when I had them this time.
My friends and I had a delightful dining experience at Hudson’s Bar and Grill. The ambience and serenity of the dining room was elegant, very conducive to conversation without intrusive or unpleasant commotion from other diners. Each food dish presentation was sophisticated as one would expect of such an establishment. They were pleasantly yummy, tasteful and creative for the most part. Our wait person was super in every way making our dining experience most pleasant and special. My only criticism was that my Halibut filet was on the bland side. The chef might consider some sauce to kick-up the flavor profile.
The Hudson's Bar and Grill is by far our favorite restaurant in the entire Portland/Vancouver area. While some may be fancier and certainly pricier none are a better experience. Been enjoying the Hudson's Bar and Grill for many years and appreciate it now more than ever.
We have dined at Hudson's a number of times. The food and service are inconsistent. At times we have had a wonderful meal! Other times the food and/or service has been less than stellar. This is very disappointing as Hudson's is not inexpensive and is one of the few nice restaurants in our area. We always look forward to dining there but are oftentimes disappointed.
Last night we were served cold corn chowder at the beginning of our meal. We had to ask the server to reheat it. No apology or explanation was offered for the temperature of the chowder. Our entree was served. The tenderloin steak was cooked properly but I couldn't identify the "glop" of potatoes on my plate. It could have been scalloped potatoes but I am not certain. Very unappetizing to say the least. The asparagus was large and had been charred which didn't have much eye appeal. Our server wasn't interested in why we didn't eat our entire dinner. She just took our plates away and left the bill.
Another unhappy experience but next time could be wonderful. You never know.
Hudson's was such a wonderful experience. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and we live very close to the Heathman Lodge, and have heard great things about the Lodge from my parents who have stayed there a number of times. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food we were interested in, and the food itself was beyond compare. Both my wife and I look forward to returning to enjoy another wonderful dinner at Hudson's sometime soon.
Charming place to eat. Piano player was playing. Love the wood decor. The food is elegantly prepared and the service is curteous.
Our food (Halibut and Steak) was cold, dry and the Lentils served with the Halibut where disgusting to be honest. They bread was good...that's it. We asked for our food to be re-maid and they brought back the same, horrible food heated up and even more dry. The manager did not offer to refund our money back or discount our meal. We really got ripped off. Never again!
It was a fabulous Valentine’s Day dinner. Hudson’s is always a reliably good choice for a special dinner. Never disappoints!
Carolyn, I am thrilled to hear about your amazing Valentine's day dinner experience! We hope to see you again soon. Sincerely, Stacy Storey Restaurant Manager
Went for lunch on Valentines Day. Drinks took 15 minutes to receive. Ordered soup. Didn’t get it. Husband ordered meatloaf sandwich. It was dry and less than a handful of fries with burned bits. My Cobb salad hardly had any toppings and very little dressing and had old lettuce in it. Celebrating birthday and had a text from the restaurants birthday club for free dessert. Mentioned it to the server who said “ok” and came back with free dessert. Dropped on the table and walked away. Didn’t say happy birthday. Just walked away. I used to work at this restaurant many years ago. I was the lead cook. I can guarantee this restaurant was 10 x’s better when I worked there. Sad to see how it has changed.
Karen, Thank you for the feedback on your Valentine's day birthday celebration. I will follow-up with the team! Sincerely, Stacy Storey Restaurant Manager
It is very unfortunate but I was taking a good friend there to celebrate her birthday. I had made a reservation via Open Table and so no indication that there would only be a bar menu due to the Super Bowl. Neither did I get a text or phone call to alert me to this limited selection. There were precious few dinner items from which to choose. I was rather vocal about my disappointment and to the credit of the server, we received complimentary desserts. But had I known this I would have chosen a different venue for this important celebration with my friend who was looking forward to a bona fide dinner.
The service was a little slow because it was very crowded, but the food was good and the ambiance was very nice.
Too noisy, not adequate server per table ratio for how busy it was.
Darlene, Thank you for the feedback, this will definitely be taken into consideration. Please come back soon and check out the Mezzanine seating. We now offer a quieter, more intimate dining experience. Sincerely, Stacy Storey Restaurant Manager
Amazing food and service. We will definitely return!
As always, Hudson's does not disappoint. I have eaten here many times and the service and food are always excellent. My wife's hanger steak was a little more done than what she asked, and they made it right by comping one of the salads.
The waiters and waitresses have always been attentive, and know the menu . Love this place!
We had a great dinner for my daughters 7th birthday. The wait staff was very friendly and surprised her with a special desert at the end of the meal.
We had a great breakfast/brunch—egg dish was perfect, sandwiches were very good, and salads were wonderful.
Food is always excellent, service very good, noise level is higher than I prefer.
I've always enjoyed brunch at Hudson's. I had the corned beef hash that was just okay. I've ordered it in the past where it was superb, all crispy and savory. This time it had some sort of sauce on it which wasn't the best.
Two people asked for to go boxes and the waiter brought the the boxes for the customers to box their own food. One of the differences between a nice dining experience and mediocre is how the waitstaff handles the to go boxes. Hudson's might want to consider this.
With such a full menu, you'd think I wouldn't have the same dinner twice in a month. Can't help it. Wedge salsd, clams and garlic bread are wonderful.
During the afternoon we made a reservation for later that same day (sat). We arrived a little early, so we got a drink at the bar. We were sat in time.
The place was clean, nice dim lighting, nice room.
The food was pretty good. I ordered a steak that was cooked just how I asked. Had good flavor.
My wife had meatloaf which was pretty good as well.
Kind of expensive, but we felt like we got our money’s worth.
My only complaint was that with all the talking in a packed house, plus the piano music (live), it was a little too loud. But it’s just a minor complaint. I had a very enjoyable experience.
The food was very good, as usual. Our server had no personality, which was a first. Normally they are bright and fun. This little girl needs to find another career!
The service and food has all ways been good and dependable. Getting reservations for dinner and even lunch is a very good idea.
It seems that Hudson's has changed. The menu entrees often do include include sides. You need to order sides to fill out your dinner as many items appear to be ala carte. I ordered cioppino. The seafood appeared to have been frozen as the texture was soft and not appealing. My husband's steak was passable but as good as in the past. We were very disappointed in the changes that seem to be cost cutting and have decreased the value that a customer receives. We have given the new menu a couple of tries. We will be looking for a new place for a good steak. Sad.
Everything was fine except for the noise level. Table for four and we could hardly carry on a conversation without shouting.
Pretty good food, casual atmosphere. Nice place for a special nigh out.
I had a lovely brunch with my best friend from out of town. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. It got a little noisy at times, but was otherwise perfect.
Thank you for recent review. I am pleased to hear that the service and food was lovely. Thank you again. Sincerely, Paul Bardzik GM
The service has not idea about how to do their work.
Before you serve the main dishes to your customers, the appetizer plates have to be taken away and the properly silver has to be provided for the dishes have been ordered. There are specific dish knives that you must give to the clients who are eating fish.
For the price that is charged, the restaurant must have tablecloths .
Whe had booked a table at 7.00 pm and we had to wait for 30 minutes
Thank you for your feedback AliciaA. I am sorry to hear about your service and have coached the server. We hope you try us again. Sincerely, Paul Bardzik GM
Prime rib and seafood dishes were prepared perfectly. Roasted cauliflower and scampi shrimp appetizers were very tasty. Service and atmosphere were great.
Thank you Stlrmike. We are happy that the food and service was 5 stars. Sincerely, Paul Bardzik GM
The food is expensive. No salads or soup with the entree. Unless of course you want to pay more. It was delicious though. I had the prime rib special.
Our waiter Steven was very good at making us feel at home. Though the place was a little loud, he was able to speak above the noise and speak clearly. The food came out relatively quick considering how busy is was.
The atmosphere was just right for New Years Eve. We all had a great time. Enjoyed the piano in the back ground.
The food was not worth the price. Atleast the rib eye I had. The meat was stringy and it was more rare than Medium rare.
I’ve eaten at chain dinners that serve a cheaper steak with less strings and fat on it for half the price. I will not order from this place again. The dessert didn’t taste like a creme burlee. The best part was the wedge salad. Can’t go wrong there. Hope someone else has a better experience than we did.
Sorry to hear about your experience travisc. We have addressed the ribeye concerns with our meat vendor. We hope you try us again in the future. Sincerely, Paul Bardzik GM
Had our company party here and every meal was delicious! We all had dessert too. Great ambiance and service was impeccable.
A go to favorite! Food always consistently great.
Our server , LQ, was perfect in every way... knowledgeable, professional and friendly!
Thank you MichaelO. We are so happy to hear how great LQ was along with the food. We hope to have you back soon. Sincerely, Paul Bardzik GM
Very nice atmosphere, delicious food and very friendly and caring staff.
We had brunch at Hudson's. It's been awhile but was always 'on the money' as far as quality, taste, service etc. But NOT today.
Our waiter was very pleasant both my husband's entree and mine were 'luke warm' at best. 2nd; the amount of crab under my poached egg was negligible. Granted I declined the "benedict' sauce; have some health concerns that precluded that splurge. But the eggs needed 'more' help since they weren't covered in sauce. Fourth, my husband's omelet wasn't good; everything inside was also cold and it was tasteless (I took a taste just to confirm); 4th) The jug of hot water they provided for my own tea tasted just like coffee! 5) In place of my cold potatoes, I asked for fresh fruit cup which the waiter provided at N/C. But None of the fruit was ripe; so I couldn't eat it. Finally told the waiter what we'd experienced with the food; he took 25% off which was a nice gesture. That said, if this is how Hudson's remains I doubt we'll return any time soon.
From the hostess Lacie greeting us warmly at the door and taking care of our special request for a romantic table to the bartenders, server Sandra and the kitchen team this was a wonderful experience. We've missed the old manager Scott Gix, but things have come around from previous sub par experiences when new management, bartenders and new chef took over. Glad to see you're back to being awesome.
Excellent as always!
A very lovely Christmas dinner. Excellent food. And a great location for a holiday meal.
We had a great time. The service and food were excellent. The place had beautiful Holiday decorations. The piano player was excellent. Thanks for making our holiday enjoyable.
