   For a very casual but fancy place to eat it, this is where you need to go. Ask for Connor too, best waiter in the house

   The food and service were great. The guy running the host stand was extremely unwelcoming, didn't even say anything when I walked up to the stand. Confusing reservation policy, which has become pretty standard for Vandelay. They have changed their reservation policy again (3-4 times since they have been open for those keeping track). You can make a reservation for happy hour, but you can only get happy hour in the bar, which is on a first-come, first-served basis. Just don't take reservations for happy hour then, or have it in the whole restaurant like you did a few months ago.

   Ran out of shrimp at 7 in a Saturday. We went just for the shrimp cocktail. Very disappointing

   I had a reservation for three people at 5:30 pm and showed up with only my little granddaughter and myself, so a two top was needed. I'm sure this wasn't their favorite thing, but they put us in a lovely booth pretty quickly and we were thrilled! It was Kindergarten Graduation Dinner for the little one and Hudson House is her VERY favorite restaurant. Thanks for being a neighborhood gem with very, very nice associates!

   We were greeted by a very unfriendly man. He could not be bothered to be a proper host as he was discourteous and dismissive. We are frequent diners here and this is very unusual for Hudson House. Fortunately our server made up for his rudeness. She was delightful.

   Salmon was good, chicken parm was good, beverly salad was good. Broccoli was nice and fresh but a little difficult to cut with a butter knife. Key lime pie was good as well. Odd vibe from manager when a customer in front of us was asking about their reservation and he said she had opted out. She asked what that meant and he responded, opted out. She was confused. He said "you cancelled." She said she never cancelled and he said, yes you did so you have to wait. He was not polite. Our waiter was nice but also curt. No banter or asking about occasions or how our day was. He took our order and served our food. That was all. He did it professionally but no warmth or friendliness. Don't know if I will return. I think you can find a better atmosphere for the price point. It's a reasonably priced establishment but it's certainly not a polished place (well it was a pancake house previously....). But it was a very busy, bustling place and the food was slightly above average. It seems popular but just not for me.
