This was the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I went here on a date and felt negative racial undertones from Hub 51. I showed up early for my reservation and was seated 15 minutes after the time the reservation was scheduled to begin. Each surrounding table were given two filled glasses of water and a pitcher of water upon seating. My guest and I were only given two glasses of water. I had to request a pitcher once we were attended to 10 minutes after being seated. Once the food came, we only had once interaction the rest of the night, the bill. I’ve spoken to others about my experiences and they shared similar experiences. The common denominator among us: we’re African-Americans. This is the first negative review I’ve ever written in my life. I take no pleasure in writing this review, but I feel other people should know what’s going on within that establishment which is also doing indoor dining in addition to their heated tent.
I think they had way too many people for us to be fighting a pandemic. Moreover, as cozy as it was, the lack of ventilation was a lil scary to say the least. The food was great and the service was a lil slow due to all the people that was there!!!
Food was great! Lots of options and the outdoor seating was heated extensively so it didn’t feel cold at all!
I really loved the food. The service was amazing and COVID friendly. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend this place and will visit again when I’m back in Chicago.
Couldn’t decide between the Hub 51 and Ben Pao menus. Both went for the latter and the food was great! Will have to go back to try the Hub 51 menu next!
Food was very cold, and chicken was over cooked. Terrible experience m, no accountability or accommodation.
The sushi was great and the wings were perfect! They have outdoor dining but with a tent. It was very private and we absolutely loved everything! The old fashions were good too. Great place.
The food and service was really good!
I always love coming here the tomato soup and grilled cheese was incredible. amazing!
Food is awesome! They did a great job with the new patio life set up.
Great, friendly service
We come for the Bang Bang Cauliflower. SOOO good. Love it. The sushi selection is good, but not extensive. The environment is really nice, and we've almost always been pleased with the level of service. Strong recommend.
Visiting for miami beach I found chicago like we were here five months ago. Just take out, outside seating, or some places inside seating w windows n doors open. The big difference is the temperature. It was freezing in chicago n it will be until may.
Well we have a good service by ilana which is the most important part in this business, especially when u work for commission.
Tom n basil soup was delicious, spinach dip was good too, sushi was not what we expect. It was hard. Ginger that comes with was old. Please dont serve old eatable food. Never never. Tks.
Happy holidays!!
First time there the staff was great and the food was yummy,
The staff at Hub 51 were great. I had a great brunch, and I felt safe during these difficult times. Keep up the good work.
The service and food was great. The server was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations. Felt very safe with the modifications of having the garage-like windows open to increase air-flow.
Great options on both menus. Drinks were good too. Loved Ben Pao menu!
We were told we had 90 min to eat but our server took about 5 to approach the table the very first time, our food was delayed for about 15 min. After our food arrived our server was no where to be found, so we didn’t start eating until 35-40 min after we arrived. Our table was missing spices and seasoning to accompany our food, my husband didn’t get to order a second beer, because by the time the waitress came to our table he had already finished his food. The food wasn’t impressive the tinga tacos were simply shredded chicken with tomato sauce very bold. As far as customer service: I was trying to get attention from my waitress which I never had, the buss boy who clearly saw me waiving at him by passed me and ignored me, I had to ask the second lady to call someone for assistance. This was my first time visiting HUB 51 and not willing to return to be honest!
Great outdoor seating and amazing food
Did brunch with a group of friends. Was a 10/10 experience and would do it again when visiting Chicago.
Food took a long time.
The heater kept going out on the patio.
Service was truthfully not good. We were there right around 2 hours
Great place for brunch. Staff was friendly and attentive. Space is large and well distanced for health and safety.
Service and management could've been a little better. Manager was rude and spoke to our table unnecessarily rude.
Great food selection and outstanding service.
Had a delicious lunch at Hub51. The additional Ben Pao Asian inspired menu is fantastic!
Great place for a date night - never disappoints -
Patio dining was very busy that evening.
Anytime me & the Mrs are out on the town, I want everything to be memorable and Hub 51 was ...it met her stamp of approval.
Would recommend
So so amazing! Was able to get a piece of cake+candle for my friends birthday and the server was SUCH a sweetheart. Would reccomend for any occasion.
Nachos were amazing would definitely recommend them
Great brunch spot! Food was really tasty!
The ambience of this place is really nice and romantic! However I was unimpressed by the food. It was really good, but nothing special.
We live in the neighborhood and walk past Hub51 often and thought we would give it a try for a Friday night out. It was just ok. Nothing exciting, innovative, or special. Just ok. The food was decent. Fish Tacos with very little taste, but a decent fish portion (the menu said Hailabut). I would avoid this restaurant, but also not in a big rush to return.
Hub 51 once was a place that meant a lot to my wife and I. It was the place where we ate lunch right after purchasing our first house. It is now just a distant memory of what it once was. Food was mediocre, service was subpar and extremely noisy, with a football watching crowd that would give any pub a run for their money.
It's sad to see what a once favorite of mine has become, and I won't be coming back anytime soon.
Great time! Highly recommend the Cauliflower appetizer, it is to die for!
Love this place to meet up with friends for lunch!
Thank you so much for the kind feedback. We really appreciate it! Let me know if you ever need anything. I'd be more than happy to set up your lunch reservations! Brad Gertz General Manager 312-828-0051
Hip environment even with social distancing. Had sushi which was fresh and delicious. Definitely on the list again.
It was delicious! Drinks were yummy food was great and the prices were very reasonable, we’ll be back again!
