They were very accomodating. I was only able to book an 8:45pm reservation on open table but I needed it for 8pm. They called to verify the reservation the day before and was more than happy to move my reservation up to 8pm. The short rib dip on garlic bread was amazing and their adult beverages were nice and stiff 😁

Overall the restaurant was pretty good. The only downside is for some reason we were sat all the way in the back of the restaurant for a table of six. The back of the restaurant has an atmosphere like we were stuck in the closet. The better atmosphere is at the front where you come in. Not sure why we were put in the back....if there's a next time I'm certainly not going to go for it.
Overall food was really good. Staff was really good as well.

We made our reservation not knowing it was during the Mag Mile Parade and their location is right in the heart of activity, however, you would never have known. It was quiet inside yet the view was great. Our meal was cooked and seasoned to perfection. My wife had risotto with shrimp and I had skirt steak. I would definitely head back to this place for more. It is a little hidden gem. I go to Chicago all the time and never knew about this until a friend mentioned it a few weeks ago. Waiter was the best...no rush, yet attentive to our needs during the time. Totally recommend the tots appetizer for an awesome taste surprise.

Excellent service, fun atmosphere. I️ had the new pumpkin salmon dish. It was tasty but a little too salty.

We stopped here while visiting Chicago and had some excellent BBQ burgers with wonderful beer. They have an extensive beer list which was glorious. staff were really on it too. Would go again!

Highly recommend the fish tacos. And if the peanut butter porter chocolate cake thing is available for dessert, DO NOT HESITATE! It was the highlight of our weekend in the food department!!

Service was excellent and my cocktail was wonderful. The fish tacos were surprisingly blend and heavy, but dessert (chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse, bananas, and rum sauce!) was fantastic.

As a single, mature female to be seated among (waitstaff had to ask people to move to even get to my table) millennials talking, drinking, pushing, and having a good time the atmosphere was awful for me. There were plenty of tables further from the bar I could have been seated at. I wouldn’t ever return, even though the food was good.

First time diners, chose it by proximity to our hotel, beer selection, on-line menu, and name (I'm a Howell - not exactly the same but close enough!) Beer, food, and service was excellent, and we were seated immediately. The noise level was a little high for me, but it seems to be part of the desired ambience. It didn't ruin the experience though.

Convenient location with good food. Busy place with several large parties. Bowl of Chili on a cool night hit the spot. Great beer flight with many local and regional beers to choose. Good experience, just avoid the coffee with dessert. Could’ve gotten better from a gas station.

Have been at this restaurant for both lunch and dinner. They have an impressive beer offering, which is definitely a plus. However, I was not particularly impressed by the food. Nothing bad, but also nothing that would draw me back again. Convenient location on Michigan Ave and a good spot to meet up for lunch.

Howells&Hood accommodated an increase in reservation last minute and I am very thankful for that. They have a great selection of beers and whiskeys/bourbons. The food was fantastic although portion size good be a bit over if you weren't planning on taking food home. Sharing is the key. The service was a touch slow in the beginning, but all orders were accurate and the waitress was very kind. It's in a wonderful location to start a day in the downtown area with family from out of town.

With its extensive beer selection, there is no question this is a great place for a casual meal. The food was very good with an adequate selection. The service was friendly and quick. It is not a quiet spot, and there are huge TV screens everywhere, but that should be expected for this kind of restaurant. We will definitely come back when we are in Chicago again.

It's easy to dismiss H&H as just another millennial bar. At first glance, it's not an impressive surrounding, but ultimately, it's all about the bread AND circuses :-} We made reservations for a late lunch/early dinner, and had the vast expanse of dining room to ourselves. NOTE TO HOSTESS - when someone lists a booth as one of their preferences, and your restaurant is empty, give them a booth. Don't negotiate it with patrons like you're buying a car. I ordered a lowly cheeseburger; turned out to be one of the best I've dined on. THICK cut bacon, aged Vermont white/yellow cheddar cheeses, shredded iceberg lettuce, tomato, and red onion. A beautiful experience; perfectly cooked to order, fat to lean ratios were spot-on, you could taste every nuance in the shoulder/brisket mixture. Surrounded by a not-too-doughy toasted brioche bun, and you have the makings of a classic. My better half tried their version of a wedge salad; literally half a head of iceberg with a nicely executed buttermilk ranch, topped with juuust enough bleu cheese. Lots of flavors mingling here, oven-dried tomatoes, (yes, not sun-dried) bacon, and brioche croutons. Both choices were easily sharable. My 3 star rating has more to do with a lack of pacing; think s-l-o-w m-o-t-i-o-n server. Everything from the drinks to the check showed up as though we were part of a Friday night after work crowd. This was an empty establishment folks.

Great service and overall good food. The fish and chips were overly breaded and not well seasoned. My companions food looked and she said it tasted great. Everythibg that went past us looked very good so I think I just ordered the wrong thing.

The drinks were excellent and the burger was superb. They were very accommodating and had no problem with putting on our favorite college football game so that we could cheer for our home team. We were also allowed to stay until the game ended and never felt like we were being forced out. Great experience.

Our waitress was lovely, very friendly and made excellent recommendations. They have a nice selection of Gluten Free options that are clearly marked on the regular menu. Nice wine and beer selection too. Only con is that it is sooo dark on the patio at night. My husband had to use the light in his phone to read the bill, I saw others do the same thing.

Good choice of beer and thats all
When you ask the server to help you choosing beer and it was to complicate for him, it's ridiculous in this restaurant with more than hundred beer
When the server asking you how cook you want your burger and you say well done he's laughing
When the all the table around you stay dirty for more than an hour, what a service.

Went out of my way to inform the restaurant that this was for a 50th birthday party.

We were seated right at the door - horrible

Ordering was quick but service was slow - we then had all of the food come out at once - horrible

Drinks were over priced and when we inquired about a desert for the celebrant we were told that they don’t do anything for a birthday.

Nothing but a tourist trap.
