Great food and server.
Busboy stood table side while we finished our last few bites...seemed ready to take our plates before we were done.
Food was great! First time here, will surely be back and I’ve told friends about it. Our server Kennedy was amazing.
Service was great, however the ribs were very tough. Most people in our party ordered them but they were way over done.
The hamburgers were great!!
We've been here several times and it's always good. On this trip we ate indoors and the energy was great - several large parties . we'll be back!!
Have been here before and they were busy, food was great as was the service will definitely be back
Wonderful place to eat. Stopped by on vacation and was surprised with a terrific dinner. Our server Shayna was awesome, and took good care with our allergy specific order.
Overall dining experience was excellent. Great atmosphere!
We went for Mother’s Day brunch. The good and service were both great.
Such a friendly atmosphere and always. Dependable great food and drinks!
A lot of food for the money, but none of the food was particularly good. We went for mother’s day brunch and it was pretty disappointing.
It was my husbands birthday celebration. We all enjoyed our dishes. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. We had a great seat by the window with a beautiful view.
We sat outside and liked the outdoor seating. We ordered crab cakes for starters and they were very mushy and not very good. My daughter ordered a hamburger done medium and it came well done. I had the fish tacos and the fish was coated with breading and the fish inside was cold. Our waitress only came to our table once at the very beginning of our meal so we did not know how the food was yet. She never came back. Another waiter came much later to see if we wanted boxes for out uneaten food. It is a shame our waitress did not come sooner so we could have had our food re cooked or taken back.
Been here several times and have been happy. Not this time. Wanted outside seating but was given some excuse about shift change even though a number of vacate tables were available as we walked past. Ordered pretzel bites and they were like warm. Told waiter and he said he would get a new order. When they came, the same problem. Asked twice for Diet Coke since it appeared that we would not get it. A different waiter came to our rescue. Also were served the pretzel bites before we received silverware and napkin. Were confused who was our waiter. We had two different guys. Reserved through Open Table as a birthday celebration. Not one word about birthday—wow. Really disappointed and probably will never go back—there are serious problems with the service and food. Had hamburger and they were tasteless. Fries were good. The table next to us had similar service problems and the6 had young children so it was not just us. We were there around 4 pm and not really super busy.
Burger was great but it was slow to come out. The rest of my party of 7 finished their dinner before my burger came out. Probably gave my burger to another table.
My family and I often stop here for a drink or snack when wandering down along Michigan Avenue. But I just had a business lunch here. It was the first nice day of the year so we sat outside. The food was very good, the view was nice and just an overall pleasant experience. I had their chicken sandwich. It was tasty and cooked well. The service was a little slow, but not bad.
Overall I like this place and recommend it.
First visit. Good, varied menu. Everything our party ordered was very good. Great beer selections.
Good food and good service
Food was good and the service was good. We be sorry when this place goes away in the fall.
Very good food but not many healthy selections. They do have a really great patio that should be opening soon.
Good food, great beer selection. The server was friendly and everything came out fast.
My husband ordered the sweet chili chicken which was good, but my risotto was so salty...it was almost inedible.
Great environment. Large selection of craft beer. Good for groups as well as bar seating.
The beer was great, the food was OK and the service was terrible.
Great spot for business lunch or group of friends. Great menu selection and price point.
We dined in for dinner before a show. Perfect for a couple of moms and their teenage daughters!
Easter Brunch was wonderful, this is not my first visit and will not be my last.
Went for a casual Easter Brunch with the family after seeing some favorable write-ups on Easter spots. We had a 1:30 reservation. While the food was ok, many items in the buffet were empty and not being replaced. The carving station stopped serving early too. I understand if we came late, but service was posted till 3pm. Lively but tables/booths were well worn and overall place felt tired. I won’t be back other than bar.
It was ok. You pay for what you get. I wasn't impressed. Everyone was nice.
The food selection on the Easter brunch was disappointing. They advertised a carving station. You would think that meant they had lunch items in addition to breakfast. But there were zero side dishes (except salad) to go with the prime rib--no potatoes, no vegetables...nothing. So I guess you could have prime rib with your eggs. Given that, the $39 price tag was way overpriced.
We went to the Easter Brunch. It was good but the menu was pretty limited compared to some other places we have gone to in the city. No hot vegetables . Bread and salad options were few. Roast beef was very good. Dessert options were also fairly sparse.
OK but somewhat disappointment ...omlet station did not have ham as an ingredient, the buffet bacon with flavorless, there was no aus jus for the prime rib the potatoes they were serving looks so unappealing I did appeal just a white mass in a serving tray the eggs on the buffet were over cooked excessively dry..the sausage on the buffet was excellent, the cold cuts were good as were the glazed nuts olives etc but could have used some sausage gravy/ biscuit and smoked salmon would have been good..I will pay more next Easter for a real brunch
First time here for Easter Brunch, the place is huge but they set up their buffet at the furthest part of the restaurant so it was a trek to get your food if you were in the main dining room. The selection was very limited and not memorable at all, it was very disappointing, but for $40pp I expected a little more especially since it was for Easter. The charcuterie selection was rather sad, I expected that to be much better since they did not have a seafood option...the Prime Rib was inconsistent, I like it rare, first time it was rare enough, but the second roast was definitely over cooked and I could only get medium. The service was surprising since there is not much to do, our coffee was never offered a refill and our old plates were not cleared off when we went to the buffet...I did notice the staff did enjoy hanging around the area near the bathroom . Just a suggestion to management if your staff is louder than the customers it is time to do your job😊.
I would still try this place out for drinks and in the summer it must be great to sit outside, they have a big area with a lot of seating.
Great beer selection, good food, good service. Reservation was not honored until we complained.
We had two big tables. The server at our table was great, the server at the other table was just okay.
Howell's and Hood has an outstanding selection of beers with wonderful detail describing the taste of each and every 1, plus alcohol content. The kitchen does a wonderful job of providing an eclectic dining experience ranging from roasted vegetables to fish tacos to delicious French onion soup to sumptuous Burger choices
Fun place, very good food.
We've lived in and around Chicago for 13 years and this was the first time coming in here. It was amazing. The beer list was outstanding and always good to find an authentic German Hefeweizen! The food was very reasonably priced and looking forward to coming back again in the summer for the nice outdoor patio seating.
We picked Howells and Hood for the location and the price. We were able to reserve a table online, which was handy. Upon arriving we were seated and it was a bit before our server was at our table. We ordered drinks and it took a while for them to come to our table. The wedge salad was amazing although it didn't come out too much before our food. It took the server a while to check on us (it was busy). Took a while for our bill as well. We finally received it and we waited 15 minutes for her to come back for our credit card....we didn't even see her so we chose to leave cash instead. Much quicker than waiting another maybe 5 or 10 minutes.....a little disappointed in our service however the food and ambiance was great!
