We looked it up and it seemed to be a nice looking place before our theatre. I have never had worse waitress in my life! She was so strange, never asked for drinks, would take one persons order and leave and did not ask for starters! Then when we ordered G and T she did not bother to ask which gin( other waitress did). Food was so bland and average! For the 300 pounds we spent I think we felt cheated ! Would not recommend this place at all!

The food was excellent--a combination of Greek and Turkish, each with modern twists that unveiled different flavours and textures. The service was outstanding--Lorena had great recommendations, spent time explaining the subtleties of each dish and each wine. And the ambiance is very upbeat and festive, elegant but casual at the same time, with tables far apart enough from one another to have private conversations but close enough to feel festive. All and all, a great find!

Hovarda was an unexpected surprise. A great place, very nice service indeed and good food. An overall pleasant evening. There was just one comment to make. The waiter removed our plates and glasses as we emptied them, it would have been nice to wait for all of us to have finished and maybe there would have been some more wine enjoyed.........

The service was extremely rude and disappointing, ruining our entire evening - we have been rushed through the entire meal; the food was taken away from us even though we said we were still working on it; after having ordered another bottle of wine we have been asked to leave the table and were not allowed to finish it, with no apologies of any kind.

Our server Maxim was great! He gave us good recommendations on food and wine. We had to go upstairs to finish our drinks in the end, then the whole music scene came on, it was deafening! Tried to get out of there quickly but had to wait for the coats, even though there weren’t any customers waiting...
Not again!

Lovely tranquil setting in the chaos of Central London. The food was unusual but very tasty, and the service impeccable. It's not cheap but the brunch menu is good value.

It was a great experience overall.
We felt though rushed to return the table throughout. It would take some time to have our food served and then while half way through every dish we were asked if we were done while clearly we weren’t.

Overall a nice place but it was too expensive in my personal opinion, wine was limited in the reasonable price point and the added 15% service charge made a meal for two to be £265 including VAT.

Hovarda can be an awesome place but also disappointing at some times. This time we were denied entry to the bar after having a good dinner. The restaurant people have always been were very helpful but this time were unable to provide us entrance to the bar as this now seems to be controlled by others. I find this very unusual as the unique selling point is restaurant + bar service. If there is a complete disconnect between the restaurant and the bar that should be stated elsewhere.

Excellent food and outstanding service. We were somehow lucky to go during a calm evening, therefore, the service was excellent. I would highly recommend the pre-show menu which has great value and allows you to taste all varieties. I cannot wait to go back on our next trip to London.

Had to ask for our drinks three times - our food came before our drink arrived. They did offer to pay for those drinks which was nice when they eventually came - but then future drinks were also slow. We went upstairs after our meal and hadnt booked, we were told we could stand at the bar. There was a table free for the next hour so we sat down, knowing that we would need to get up when the booked guests arrived. The waiter refused to serve us from the table and said we had to go to the bar seeing as we hadnt booked. We found him quite rude. not a great experience which is a shame because this restaurant had been recommended to me and id booked it as a present to my friend having a tough time. Good food and atmosphere but poor service.

Over all experience was good, the girls at the front were ok friendly. Although I was ten minutes late and they moved my table from upstairs to down.

The food was average.
Steak was 34 pounds I asked for medium rare and it came medium.

Upstairs is great the girl at the top was super nice !
Great music good drinks.

Fantastic restaurant, very centric, great decoration.
The food was excellent. The grilled sea bass to share was delicious. Some of the dishes are slightly highly priced but there are other more affordable options.
Excellent choice of interesting wines (as in not the usual suspects). We chose a Greek Malagoussia (White).
The lokma and the ekmek kadaifi were an excellent desserts.

Waiter was not well informed about the menu in any way. Kept having to go back to the kitchen to provide us with answers. The simit was excellent, shakshouka was acceptable. The burger, imam aubergine, and menemen were all poor in taste and texture.

Beautiful place. Amazing staff and a delicious menu. The menu is a little expensive considering the type of food. Saying that, each dish was executed perfectly. Cheapest bottle of wine is circa £40ish which means a couple of cocktails and a few bottles of wine with everyone certainly adds up.

Saying that, it’s a wonderful place. I would definitely go back although I may make it a bit more of a special occasion as it’s reasonably pricey.

The dj and bar upstairs is fun.

i was sat at the bar waiting for my drink and before the drink came, the barman presented me with a bill... Which is very strange, you should never get a bill before you are served what you ordered. I asked the barman if he knows i havent had my drink yet and he shrugged and took the receipt back..

Service in the restaurant was great, and the food was lovely. nice atmosphere, the music wasnt to my taste but it was pleasant.

This place has potential but it’s pretty fake at the moment

The food wasn’t amazing was something fairly basic and really overpriced. calamaris as starter were basic / 15 quid a portion and they were too done . other places have similar for 7 pounds a portion

The location and design is good but the waiters ( although nice attitude ) keep checking on you constantly and it gives a rushing and pushy energy

The food was basic and quickly served same for the cocktails

I have been to many places in London which are nice and really expensive places which are actually worth their value

This seems a ‘wanna be restaurant’
We’ve asked for the bill and when we’ve received it we were surprised to see that they have added 20% tax on whatever we’ve ordered although this was not mentioned In the menu at start.

So if you pay 18 quid for a starter you need to calculate extra 20% for the final value etc ...

Quite disappointing at the end.

Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend unless you are loaded and you don’t care about your money

I felt a bit sorry for Hovarda. Vast sums have clearly been spent on the interior's utterly opulent decor, the food is outstandingly good, and yet the place was pretty much deserted on a Saturday evening when the rest of South Soho was utterly heaving. What's gone wrong??
I think the problem is simply location, location, location. This is a nouveau-Mayfair type restaurant, pitched squarely at the wealthy and the ostentatious. It would no doubt go great guns next door to Novikov, but it is clearly struggling in vibier and scuzzier Rupert Street.
We ate really excellent squid, a roasted beetroot salad as good as anything at Hovarda's super-successful next-door-neighbour Palomar, OK-ish grilled chicken and possibly the best (and tiniest) kleftiko I've ever tasted. Thank heavens we ordered from the pre-theatre menu, which was a snip at £24.95 each. The a la carte pricing is off the charts.
The dining room is a tranquil oasis of calm, and the bar is ideal for a peaceful and reflective cocktail in utterly extravagant surroundings, but I don't think that's what the management were shooting for when they splashed the cash on decking Hovarda out like an adjunct to a seven-star Dubai hotel. There was consequently a whiff of desperation about the glamorous, black-clad waitstaff. Please come and see our cocktail bar! Please order a dessert! Have some more wine! And the pre-theatre menu was naughtily withheld until we asked for it. We left thinking we'd somehow let Hovarda down by not qute spending enough.
If you fancy an evening of top-quality Greek-Turkish food with a chunky side-order of weirdness and desperation, then I couldn't recommend Hovarda highly enough. You'd better hurry, though: I don't suppose it will be around for long.
