Had a lunch booking there and when I went there was a note on the door that the place has closed down for good 2 days ago. Nobody bothered to notify us . We got there and the place was dark and we had no reservations anywhere else . Was not a happy moment
I was in with some friends and to start, the service was TERRIBLE. 3 of us ordered steak and each one was made incorrectly. Two of us asked for Hot Water with lemon and had to send them back three times due to either dirty glasses or being given an orange slice instead of lemon. The server was not very attentive, and took very long to service us. The place wasn't busy so, to be helpful shouldn't be an issue.
We will never be returning and would advise anyone that expects great service and good food not to entertain the idea of this place.
My colleague and I had dinner here tonight as we both received a gift card at a company event. The food and service were both quite average. Not bad, but the only thing I found overly memorable or exceptional was the Caesar salad. My filet mignon was cooked to my liking, but I found the quality of meat was not as good as expected for the price. It wasn't as tender as a typical filet (in my experience) but I did enjoy the Jack Daniels Pepper sauce. My colleague had the 16 oz rib steak, which he ordered medium - it came med rare, which I think was a forgivable error ;) Wine list was decent, but no half-liter option available. We 'settled' for a couple of 9 oz glasses. For dessert, we both had the crème brûlée, which was again, pretty average. I'd come back for the Caesar salad.
Our reservations were honoured and we had a great spot by the corner (near the washrooms and indoor entrance) that was private and cozy. We ordered nachos and they were fantastic as it wasn't oily with plenty of toppings and came with salsa and sour cream. Only thing missing was guacamole! The Happy Hour time on OpenTable is incorrect from 4-6pm as it ended at 5:30pm, so that should be updated! The drinks were great and our server came back often to check on us.
Tori was great!
Very loud music, impossible to talk . Steak that was ordered as medium was served rare.
We went for lunch on Friday. I arrived early & Tori seated me. She was very friendly & introduced herself. She mentioned the daily specials We ordered the steak frites and Cobb steak salad with soup. The meals tasted great . Tori was very attentive & offered excellent service. It's a great place for a Friday Lunch.
Food was good, service was ok, but music was way too loud.
We went for lunch. We ordered the Filet Mignon Burger & Steak Cobb salad. The food arrived promptly. It tasted good as well. This is a nice place for lunch. Service by Allie ( sp) was friendly and efficient.
The food is overpriced and 90% of it was horrible. Considering they promote there ribs and steak it should be amazing right? NOPE. The ribs were grainy, bad quality and had an after taste to them. The steak was burnt like all the reviews mentioned, French onion soup was so salty it was not edible. The calamari was soggy and rubbery. The burger was ok but it was 20 dollars and they gave us maybe 10 fries. This is a "Bay Street" eatery but don't waste your money here.
Unfortunately the steaks were overdone and the salmon dish was 15m delayed as it was burned and had to be remade.
The food was tasteful and there was a good portion as well. Although it does not make up for the horrible service we received, I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. It took 30 minutes for someone to give us our bill even after I asked one of the servers to let our server know we wanted the bill because she didn't check on us once after the food was brought out. It was really loud in there too so you can't even have a normal conversation without yelling. I wanted to try this restaurant because I always walk by it and I'm not impressed at all. Besides the food, the service and atmosphere in there was horrible. I definitely would not recommend going to this restaurant or ever go back again myself.
We were a party of 6 including 2 young children. We came for an early dinner at 5:30pm at the Downtown Toronto location. The restaurant was reasonably busy because there was a Hockey game that evening. None-the-less we were seated in a very nice private area. The service was excellent. The food was great. Young ones had a great time. Even though there isn't a kid's menu, the kitchen made whatever they wanted. Great spot for a night out with friends or even before a game.
a lot of people come , good place to have a drink
Not that great -- we went in early because we were going somewhere at 7 pm. Service was slow, food not great,. expensive for what we got. Not even the offer of any bread? I'm not a prude, but the poor waitresses looked extrememly embarrassed in what they were wearing - constantly yanking the front of their dresses up, and their skirts down. Maybe different if they attending to a bar crowd on a Friday night -- but on a Saturday afternoon at 5 -- it was basically all families going to the hockey game...... I felt bad for the waitresses. I wouldn't go here again, and like I said -- we didn't have drinks, bill was still $165.00 -- not great value. Steak was OK, onot great.
Food is good. Atmosphere is fun. Prices are reasonable. Service is inattentive and slow, needs improvement.
Just ok food. Great service
The winterlicous menu was delicious and service was attentive! Definitely will be back.
Food was delicious! Best tuna tartare ever and baby back ribs were awesome and fell off the bone. Will definitely be back.
Overall food was good.
One huge complaint is that it took nearly 40 minutes after ordering to receive our first plate of food. Very irritating.
I originally came for the winterlicious which looked like a great deal, but I wasn't hungry enough so I went with only the yellowfin tuna salad. I was disappointed in the salad, If I'm paying for a raw tuna salad, I was hoping for a nicer salad. It was a lot of lettuce and tortilla chips that I really cant eat with a fork.
Four of us enjoyed the Winterlicious dinner menu everything was amazing arrived in timely manner and service was great! Two youngest enjoy the app meat platter and loved it as well. Bonus was red wine special on Saturday night. Would definitely return if going out as family, or to catch a game on big screen in comfy seating.
Had Winterlicious lunch and it was very good, generous portions, and friendly service
Great atmosphere come here often since it's next to work. Live DJ on Fridays always playing good music. Food is really good! Prices can be better for portion size but overall fantastic venue.
Interesting variety to the menu. Chicken tacos surprisingly good. Maple cheesecake was very light, exactly how I like it.
Loved the food and the decor
Just loved everything about it
Waitress was wonderful also
Great winter fest prices
Would go back in a heartbeat
The best ribs I have ever tasted! The service was also exceptional all around. My wife and I really enjoyed our evening.
Took ages to get the food, it wasn't that great, if you want good steak or wish to speak to your friends, go somewhere else.
Mains were served 2 minutes after being served our appetizers (which we had hardly touched). Not impressed.
Excellent place for lunch. I was seated promptly in the bar area. The restaurant was busy with Winterlicious patrons. I ordered the steak cobb salad. It's very tasty. Service was excellent as usual. The waitress remembered my beer order from a few months ago.
I went to Houston's for an evening celebration after having had a nice lunch a few days earlier. Only 3 of the exhaustive list of red wines were available. The steaks were large but thin thus resulting in them cooling down really quickly and they were not really too flavourful. The crème brulet seemed to have been a prepackaged crème or perhaps just a rush job with lots of clumpy bits. Extremely disappointing for a $300 meal for 3 people.
Five of us went there for my birthday. Overall, the food was OK. We ordered 5 steak entrées, 1 medium-well and 4 medium. We started eating immediately after receiving our meals as we were really hungry. My grandson's tasted burnt, which I didn't realize until I tried his steak while setting it aside. My wife's was fine. My son's was more like medium-well, which he was eating anyway. The outer part of my prime rib was more medium-well, which I was also eating; however, as I got close to inner part, it became dry and chewy. By the time the waiting staff came by, my son & I were about halfway through the meal, so I didn't bother to ask for replacements. My daughter was well-done not medium. As she wasn't too far into her meal, she requested a replacement. The replacement was fine. I realize I should have gotten up earlier and brought someone over to check the steak, but as I said earlier, we were too hungry. Overall, we didn't get that feeling of friendliness. The enthusiasm of the servers could have been higher. Although they were respectful, they didn't engage in conversation other than to serve.
One of the best steak I have ever had. Amazing, and the red wine reduction sauce. Our waiter, I forget his name, was amazing.
Found the food terrible for the price they were asking. Would not go back.
It was a date night for my husband and I. I made reservations for 7:00pm because we had tickets for a show at 9:30pm. The service was so bad that we finished dinner at 9:00pm. It took about 5 minutes for our waitress to show up after we were seated... We ordered our drinks, once again at least 10 minutes to receive our drinks, then another 10-15 minutes to place our order... Once our dinner was severed they forgot to give us steak knives, which is funny considering its considered a steakhouse... Once again our waitress was no where to be found... It was a good 5 minutes before I could wave once of the managers down... By that time some of the food was cold... They whole night was basically hunting someone down for things... Then finally I was looking for our waitress for the bill and when she finally came back with it she smelt like cigarettes.... Very disappointing.
Excellent place to have dinner before a show at the Sony centre. Food was good. Service was quick.
Unfortunately my last visit was disappointing..... Steaks that were ordered came back more raw than was requested and service was extremely slow. Had to flag down server to place order.
Food was pretty good and the atmosphere was pretty electric and lively, we had a good time , would definitely recommend on a Friday or Saturday night !
The Sirloin steak was chewy and difficult to eat. This is my second time in two months ordering a sirloin steak, Both times I have experienced the same result (and the steaks were cooked to my medium rare liking).
Houston was better than expected. I loved the atmosphere of the lounge area and the seating was very comfortable. Service was quick and the people were nice. I had the bacon and cheddar burger which was nothing special but very good. The fries are little on the lower end. I would definitely go again and recommend to friends.
