House of Que - Weehawken
Wow... Love this place!
As a lover of BBQ who has eaten at some of the best in the US, including the best in Texas and the Carolina's, House of Que totally took me by surprise. We decided to check it out due to it's location by the ferry terminal, which by the way offers amazing views of the Midtown skyline, but it was the food that will keep us coming back.
The cuts of brisket were pure perfection... Just the right amount of fatty trim, but no grizzly fat in the meat. The ribs were also extremely meaty. The smoky BBQ sauce added the right amount of sweetness to compliment the meat. We also loved the Mac & Cheese!
As an added bonus, they had a few local brews on tap, which I wish more NJ restaurants would do!!!
I highly recommend House of Que and look forward to returning myself very soon!
We had an amazing time. The waiter was great and food came out super quick. They had dueling pianos (every Saturday night) and they were the best!! We had our table from 6:45-10 to watch the whole show. The food was solid. Not the best BBQ I have ever had but still good. I would definitely return for a Saturday night for the dueling pianos (or some other event night) but prob wouldn’t make the trip for just the meal. There was also a parking deck right next door which cost $10 for a little over 3 hours.
Our server was very welcoming and educated us about the menu with sincerity. Loved sitting outside. My brisket was not very warm and a bit dry. The fried pickles were awesome. The house made bbq sauce was good (sweat one too sweet for me). Wish they offered at least one ‘healthy’ side dish. Parking is in issue in this area. Restaurant comps $6 toward parking garage. Parking can get expensive in the garage. Overall, decent place. I may be back.
Someone needs to replace the cook. I wasn't impressed at all with the food. It was just "OK" nothing special. Nice views of NYC but that's all. If you want GREAT food...look for another restaurant. We went for brunch...why do they have brunch? I guess it's to get customers early.
Great location to watch the women’s world cup final! it wasn’t packed and you can see a screen wherever you sit!
The food was okay but the service was excellent. No salt on the greens but glad they had them. BBQ was okay but we had very high expectations.
Worst experience with a bartender (Andrew) ever. It was clear that he had a bad day as he acted towards us in a very unprofessional manner from the moment we sat down. Two of our friends were sitting at the bar downstairs and we met them there. The bar tender gave us menus and very quickly became annoyed because we took a while to make up our minds if we wanted to eat something. When we asked about the Thursday night special, he said it would only start once the Football game starts - which was not what the advertisement said. Only after we asked him to check with the manager did he do so and came back to say that the special was indeed valid now. So we ordered it and one of our friends asked for another (his second) beer. The bartender then said he would only serve him if he stops slurring. We immediately told the bartender that his behavior was totally inappropriate to which he said in a very rude tone (including an “F-you”) that he has to make sure that he doesn’t over-serve us and that he’s getting his manager because we shouldn’t complain to him. Without another word, the bartender ran off and told the manager. The manager came, we explained what happened and he was apologetic. Unfortunately, the experience was so bad that we decided we will never come back to this place even though we literally live right across the street. Tonight ruined it for us.
Had the pork belly app which was ok but not great. Which pretty much sums up the visit
Had the brisket which the menu said roasted 18 hours but it was a little tough. The chicken was pretty good but not outstanding.
These sides of potato salad and collard greens also just ok
Ordered full pound of rubs but waiter forgot to put it in.
Cut order of ribs to half after being let down by everything else.
Won’t be rushing back
We had a blast. Food is good.
The wings were very good; awesome flavor and full of meat. Unfortunately that was it. The pulled pork sandwich was extremely fatty, ribs lacked much meat and barely any sauce/taste and children's cheese burger was dry and extremely overcooked. The waitress seemed disinterested and wasn't very efficient.
After hearing a lot about this place, all I can say is one word: disappointed. Ordered the mid level platter and everything (brisket, ribs and chicken) except the pork shoulder was dry. I smoke food at home, and theirs is sitting too long before serving. Sides were not great either. Brisket chili tasted like pure chili mix. Mac and cheese was average. Best side was corn pudding. H of Q has to step it up and figure out how to maintain moisture in the food. Do that and it'll be a go too.
we went for a pre-father's day dinner. good place to bring the family.
Food was good. Service was rough, but friendly. Several dogs around.
First visit here, brought my fiance for her birthday. We absolutely loved everything. The staff and service, casual friendly outgoing and very informative! Considering the restaurant was more than half full our food and drinks came surprisingly quickly. I was caught off guard with the promptness. Their menu isn't extensive, but isn't bare minimal. Nice selection of sides and appetizers. We shared wings with BBQ sauce (amazing). 6 wings, lot of meat on the bones. She had ribs and curly fries. Meat fell off the bones, melts in your mouth. Very flavorful. Fries, as tasty as could be. I had 1/2lb of brisket (do yourself the favor) and Mac and cheese. Right amount of cheese for my liking. She had sangria, I had a drink consisting of JD Honey and lemonade. Delicious. We shared a warm brownie with ice cream. Start to finish a true delight. Beautiful view of uptown Manhattan. Note: the ferry station is directly across the street. Meaning lots of people walking by at times, cars and buses. But not extensive.
Just a nice place to hang out. Nice view. Food was terrible. Ribs were dry and flavorless. Wings were undercooked and drenched in way too much sauce. One of the worst BBQ places I've ever been.
Nice place just didn't like the food. We expected a better BBQ flavor.
Great food, friendly service and a fun atmosphere (dueling pianos are great). This was my third visit and there will be more. One point - the brisket was OK at best. Ribs and pulled pork are outstanding.
Always great for brunch, lunch or dinner. Great food and service.
We love the comedy show. We would like to look forward to more vegetarian options.
Front desk was rude. Sadly she appeared to be a manager or supervisor. While having side conversation I was asked to park my stroller at the front. I get it but here is how I was I asked
“Could you leave your Stroller in the front so you don’t get my floors wet?”
How about - “Sir welcome to house of que, let me help you with your stroller while we get your table ready with a high chair?”
Food was sub par and over priced and your glasses are too small.
La comida es excelente
Hice la reserva por open table y no me dieron los 100 puntos que decían me iban a dar.
Everything from the entering the door to the french fries was absolutely outstanding. We originally had reservations with my best friend but she asked our friends to keep the reservation although she couldn't come due to her recently broken leg and even with my VERY difficult pallet, we said we couldn't wait to come back as soon as we sat down. What a great addition to the neighborhood!!! #Congrats
Service was bad. Food was bad. Very disappointed. Will never return.
Our first time there and we were pleasantly surprised! We had a great time, the food was great, the atmosphere was fun, and the dueling pianos we're a great way to enjoy our meal! I can't wait to come back again when it gets warmer and sit by the water and have a great Margarita in hand!
Great addition to our local restaurants. Great service, authentic Texas bbQ (native Texan) and great ambiance. Hang out or for a meal with the family.
Fun place - solid food - reasonable prices and very friendly service. Would be 5 stars but the brisket was OK at best. Ribs and sides were spectacular.
Great experience start to finish.
Very disappointed...Nice room with NYC views but food was average at best.....Decent wings, average ribs and horrible brisket....Corn bread was dry....Dueling Pianos entertainment was weak.....I usually will give a place a 2nd chance but it will be awhile before I come back....
Possibly just growing pains, but the service needs work. The host made us feel like we were inconveniencing her, she couldn’t be bothered to smile or welcome us. We were seated and it just felt dark and gloomy. The waiter seemed to be the manager filling in for a lack of staff. He took our order after a long wait and just seemed awkward. We ordered the brisket and it was good, the also had a half chicken which was dry and inedible. Our sides were good; Mac and cheese, corn and black beans and corn bread. The place has potential, but the service and ambience just felt off, could’ve just been a slow night...will give it another shot.
Food was mediocre at best. Ordering bbq ribs by the pound was a total ripoff. And they were dry and cold. The brisket was fatty and had no flavor. Don’t bother with the cole slaw either because it had no flavor. The curly fries were the highlight of our meal. Go and sit at the bar if you want to see a repetitive football highlight reel or split screen softball, or if you love maroon 5- they play only their music. Only Maroon 5. No blues. No R&B. Overall, a waste of time and money to go to Que.
Not good from the start. Service was shoddy, food was mediocre (pork was really fatty, yuck), and there was a piece of plastic in our sandwich. They offered a replacement, which we refused five times and then agreed to so they'd stop asking, but they UPCHARGED us, actually adding to our bill. Good grief! I wouldn't recommend this to my second cousin's dog! Hard pass, better bbq elsewhere!
Good food, fun atmosphere and incredible staff - friendly and efficient. Well worth a visit.
Our food was cold. I was too tired to wait and send it back. Service otherwise was good.
Had a great time. Staff very friendly food had just the right flavor and went well with the sauces
The food and location great! The service was regular
Great atmosphere and TVs. The drinks are also good. However- the bbq is very dry and the appetizers are way to expensive.
Food and service were both awesome. Will definitely be coming back!
Great food and fun atmosphere. Just wish the bun was warmed up/toasted for the brisket sandwich. Seemed a little odd to use a cold bun.
Service and location are great. Dessert was amazing. Def will be back
We celebrated my mom’s birthday here. The ambiance was great. There was a game on the many televisions. I wasn’t aware that it had a sports bar type vibe. The food was good and there was live music after 9 PM the Saturday night that we went.
