Nice overall experience
I first tried the House of Lasagna because its name was so appealing! I am pleased to say that their food is equally as appealing. The food is consistently good and I am a fan of their Bolognese sauce in particular. They have great prix-fixe options and I do love that orders come with a salad.
This isn't a "fine dining" experience, but it's very good. The service is quick and attentive and it's nice to have a quick, cloth table-cloth restaurant nearby the office when you need an affordable, but classy escape from the routine.
Excellent unobtrusive service.
Very good food and nice variety of choices.
Seasonal options change regularly.
A couple of my friends told me to check this place out. My wife and I went for lunch a couple of days ago. I had the bolognese lasagna, and the pasta was incredible. I was struck by how the pasta melted in my mouth, which made the dish lighter than the lasagna pastas I'm used to eating. The meaty sauce was equally pleasing. I didn't think I would finish the lasagna when I first saw the portion they serve, but I couldn't stop eating it. My wife enjoyed her dish as well, and we split a cheesecake which was a delicious end to a great meal. We will definitely be recommending this place to our friends and family as well! The service was outstanding too. Nothing negative to say here!
Usually this place is lovely. Diners clearly enjoy being here and enjoy being able to speak in a normal tone, rather than having to should to be heard over the noise. MY last visit was marred by a table to three men who were enjoying the bottles of wine as much as the food and whose voices kept getting louder and louder. My friend and I finally had to give up t trying to talk because these guys were making so much noise. This ;lovely place is too small for this level of disruption.
Everything was delicious! It's usually really quiet and comfortable. Perfect place for a low key dinner near grand central.
The food was not great, too heavy
Amazing food. Very unique flavor to the lasagna. Thought the wait staff could have a bit of a strange attitude at times, it is worth it for the quality of the food. The only complaint I have is there are no refills on soda.
Flavor was good but noodles so over cooked they were mushy.
The food was delicious in a cute setting. Staff was friendly and attentive.
Great service, average food . For a restaurant called “ house of lasagna “ I expected it to have been “heaven on a plate “, instead stodge on a plate , too much pasta 😬not enough of their talked about sauce !!
Far too salty needing water all night , not good !
The lasagna was absolutely delicious, some of the best I've ever had
Our third time here! A great place to bring out of town guests. Food is always wonderful
Great service. Flavor of the food was a bit bland...
Despite my note in the reservation, and my verbally telling the server, my night ended in the emergency room. Apparently the staff here are not trained in handling server allergies or reporting such concerns to the kitchen. I am so disappointed, I can't even put it into words.
coming in on metro north this is a great place for a solid meal pre theatre. easy walk from gct. one can either walk to the theatre district or go back to gct and take the shuttle after dinner. good food, good value.
Food was good and the service was great.
Seems to be one more compromise every time we visit. Now there's no more Lasagna of the Day :(
I changed my reservation a couple times within the hour before I arrived, at 8:45 on Easter night. I appreciated that service was fast and courteous. The pasta was tasty :)
The food is very good and it was quiet. We were able to talk without any background noise. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
Simple little pasta restaurant, this place reminds us of a neighborhood place in Italy. Good homemade pasta, pleasant service, good value.
The service was excellent and the food was delicious! I would definitely go there again.
They were very good. Just a little bit quick on the service, kinda felt a little rushed. Although very friendly though. Everything was good and tasty and I appreciate timing is difficult but it did feel quick between courses etc.
Nice welcome and comfortable surroundings,
The food was lovely and hot and tasted great.
I would definitely recommend
Small resteraunt with great service. My wife and i loved it.
We were seated upstairs which we found out was the restaurant called La Stanza. The wait staff was attentive, informative and friendly. The food was delicious! My staff enjoyed themselves. We will be returning for our staff meeting in the future.
Nice Italian restaurant. Small but quite authentic.
Food not even close to an Italian taste. Hostess was rude right when we arrived and made us wait 5 minutes before asking if we had made a reservation screamed at somebody that called the restaurant for information. Glasses were filthy and smell like chlorine.
Great atmosphere! Good place for a small party and the food is great.
Recommended by a local. They always know the best spots, and House of Lasagna did not disappoint. The sausage lasagna was fantastic. Excellent service. Cozy and comfortable. Definitely going back on my next visit.
Lasagne was very good, as was the salad and the shrimp pasta special. Linguine with clams was very watery and didn't have much taste. The wine choice was very limited, mainly house wines. It was very busy and the service was okay but had to request the waiter a couple of times. Nice local place for a very inexpensive meal. Reservations needed!
Food was very good. Service was excellent. Dessert was delicious & Lemoncello was perfect
Had a 7:00 reservation on a Saturday and was seated right away. Disappointed with the wine list as there was none. Just house by the carafe or glass. Sever rushed us a bit but we took our time ordering and slowed him down. Started with the meatballs in parmesan sauce which were outstanding. My husband had basic lasagna which did not disappoint. I had the penne ala vodka which was ok and oversauced. Still it was a fun dinner out on a cold night. Would go again.
Great Spot, not super busy, but a constant flow. Attentive staff.
This is a great place, great food and service was excellent. Will definitely return when in NYC.
Food is great, prices are very reasonable. If you’re in the area and want a good meal, House of Lasagna is worth trying.
Wonderful dinner. Very accommodating to our requests
Excellent Italian food in a warm and cozy location. The ambiance is very welcoming, the staff were very accommodating and the food was delicious. I would definitely return.
House of lasagna and a sister restaurant la stanza are neighborhood favorites! I can always count on friendly service, delicious food, and reasonable prices. I highly recommend this for a lovely neighborhood evening.
Unassuming from the outside this restaurant served good Italian food at value for money prices. Service was good and with a smile. Give it a go, you will be surprised.
