The menu is very small. The vegetarian lasagna is like soup. Horrible. The ribs tasted as if it came out of a box. Horrible. French fried were dry. The service wasn’t that great. They acted as if it was a rush but it wasn’t that busy and regardless it’s called « Customer Service » for a reason. The water girl was on point though. Music was wonderful. The theme is great. But I sadly wouldn’t recommend this place if you want a meal. Drink and music is perfect.
Great place with a great atmosphere and lots of pictures and chandlers. The pianist and singer on the Tuesday night we went were great. The pianist was exceptional worth listening to. The food was above what we were expecting for a club but reasonable prices with a set menu and good prices on cocktails. If you are in Montreal you should visit.
We had an awful experience at the House of Jazz. I had made a reservation for my boyfriends birthday weeks ahead of time. I even wrote it was for his birthday, but that was never commented on and we were seating in a cramped seat right in the front. The drinks and food was obnoxiously overpriced. Our drinks were weak and it took forever for our waitress to check on us. By the time she did we asked for a cheese platter that was EIGHTEEN dollars, so we expected that it would have an array of cheeses, fruits, and nuts included. However what we were given was the opposite, there were five small pieces of cheese and three slices of apples. The plate looked like it was meant to feed a mouse. We waited then for a extreme amount of time just so we could get our check and leave immediately. Our waitress was aware that we were upset and still made us pay the cover charge. I ended up paying 75 dollars in total for two watered-down drinks and five slices of cheese. Don’t go here.
Food was good but not exceptional, service from Charlene was really excellent and the live music was very, very good. Atmospheric place that lived up to expectations. We were visiting from Europe and would recommend House of Jazz to anyone.
Super place for Jazz music. A bit loud to talk, but great ambiance.
We had an amazing evening and even got to have a drink with the band. Very nice people and good energy. Ambiance is incredible.
I was hoping for more jazz band like saxaphone and trumpet
-Service hors norme
-Propriétaire en Or
We had both frequented the old Biddles and this new establishment shortly after it had changed hands.
The place has lost the friendly human touch and the music (that is what we came for) was nothing to write hone about
It was a nice experience, the food was ok but the dessert was inedible! I didn’t know how one can go that wrong with a brownie and a chocolate caramel cake! We couldn’t go beyond the first bite.
Great place and a very special music.
Main dish was great, Dessert was so so
Music interesting but walls are outdated
The waiter was handy all night
Dined at the House of Jazz while visiting Montreal. The food and drinks were excellent as was the friendliness and service extended by the staff.
Unique atmosphere and decor. So enjoyed the Snooksta and the Ganstas Band who provided great music.
Will definitely recommend House of Jazz to friends who plan to visit Montreal and will return there myself whenever in Montreal.
Noise level (with the live music) too high to have a discussion at my table. For the next time, I will start sooner to ensure we are at the dessert when the music starts (7pm). Overall a good experience
Over priced dry chicken. They sat us at a table when there was no body there but as the place filled they boxed us in and we had to have people move themselves and chairs out of way to get out. Not worth the money
since 1998,I spend an evening jazz-dinner in your restaurant.Arriving from France to visit family ,I cannot miss a"soirée" in house of jazz........ it's always great !
You need lots more air conditioning. A lack of proper a/c ruined the night for me. I couldn't enjoy my food or the entertainment.
My family and I had a great time.
Coco Thompson and an incredible trio performed Billy Holiday, Cesaría Evora, Etta James and many others. Loved the wine selection also.
Awesome live jazz!!! Good food and great character!
Please note there is a $10 cover charge during show times added to your check.
Dinner and a show on a Sunday night. The band was amazing and we had front toe seats.
School was great and the music was great the service was great
The entertainment was amazing- the food was inedible. It’s a beautiful spot, but I had better food at the local food court.
The performing artists saved the evening. Poor food and expensive meal even with a groupon coupon.
100 dollars for dry chicken, 2 ribs! and overspiced greasy rice...only given two choices! I suggest that you eat an ordinary St Hubert meal and then go for a drink only! But remember to pay your entrance fee...Have been to a couple of pubs over the world and have never had to pay an entrance fee. Even in a small city like Halifax... fantastic live shows, good food, and a better ambiance.
My friend and I couldnt get a table upstairs, because we were two. However, there was a person alone using a table of 4. And an other couple of two using a table for 4, but we couldnt get one until maybe later if available.
No one came to the table we wanted, whatever still enjoyed the decor and ambience.
My fiance and I went there on Friday to celebrate our anniversary. I got a coupon from Groupon and that was a big mistake. We ordered one soup, one duck terrine, 2 veal shacks, 1 brownie with ice cream and a tea. I paid $69 for coupon with value of 138 and as I calculated the bill adding $20 entrance fee should be less. But when I saw the bill was shocked $169! Bill was so confusing itself. I had to pay $33 more +$15 tip. I couldn't argue since it was on me and my fiance would get sad.
It was almost like not having a coupon with limited menue options. So disappointed, never go again.
Great service from our waitress Fanny. Music was very good. Loved the decor and ambiance. Will recommend to Jazz loving friends.
MY wifes diner was exellent, for me the Ribs where very tough . Bob Ricci band great evening.
Great atmosphere friendly servers amazing entertainment fun experience
The french fries, coleslaw, barbecue sauce and chicken were very good. The ribs were bland. The restaurant was authentic and eclectic, given it was a jazz hub for many years; however, I wish it was cleaner and refreshed. The carpets and the seats at the booth were worn and torn. The washrooms weren't too clean either. The setting for a jazz restaurant was unique but the owners should replace the worn out furnishings.
While the restaurant was beautiful and food was great, we reserved a table to listen to the live Jazz and that didn’t happen. Two days in Montreal and no option to hear the music we were told was AAA. Disappointed
