The stem and base of my champagne glass was sticky. The magic show was obviously geared towards younger audiences. In this case, my favorite magician, Amory, decided to do all new tricks because my wife and I had seen his others before. I love this guy, and he is the highlight of going to House of Cards.
Had a wonderful time. The food was fantastic as well as the entertainment. The service was top notch too. Would go back again for sure.
We’ve been here before and brought friends visiting from out of town. We all loved it! The service was great, food was delicious and the shows were incredible!
Fabulous!!! Magicians and food were excellent!!! Make sure to check the dress code. No jeans for women.
This place is the best kept secret in Nashville! Great date night, excellent dining and entertainment was fantastic!
The first impression is one of confusion. The entrance is not well marked. Everything else however is perfect.
As a magician I am so jealous of this place. It is perfect, elegant, and Thurston, the piano player played my favorite Frank Zappa tune ,”Peaches en Regalia.” That is real magic. The best magic restaurant since Indiana’s Illusions. Bravo! A great place to play.
At first glance, the menu looks overpriced. But you have to enjoy the magic sideshows and main show to thoroughly enjoy the experience. Overall, the entire experience makes this dinner well worth the price
I hadn't had the opportunity to go to HOC. Seemed it was always booked when I thought about it. So, we decided to go with another couple on a Wednesday night. Not crowded at all.
1. Service was impeccable. 3-4 different waiters were taking excellent care of us.
2. Everyone was very more than satisfied with their meal. I just wish they had a caesar salad or at least a basic "house" salad. We weren't excited about the selections in that area. But that could just be us. You may love them.
3. The 18 oz. Ribeye I had was as good as I have eaten in this town...cooked a perfect medium-rare...
topped off with an excellent piece of cheesecake.
It was fun to watch the magicians up close and personal. Both were very good, I have to say. But, the guy doing the main show, well...I'm still shaking my head. Of course, he did card tricks, rope tricks, etc. But he did a couple, and one in particular, that blew me away. It totally defied logic. If you're lucky, he'll still be around should you decide to go to HOC.
Service was slow and unpolished.
This experience was so worth it. Definitely pricey but fun for a special occasion.
This is a "full experience" restaurant. The food is fabulous as well as the magicians and the wait staff! I'm recommending this to everyone I know!
Absolutely a great place for bringing clients - check out Thurston the piano player!
Excellent menu and extensive wine list to match. The poutine app was excellent, as was both my steak and my wife's tomahawk pork chop. A few of the allocated bourbons on the menu I ordered were out of stock, but to be expected this time of year. The main act after dinner was absolutely incredible as the side show in the dining room were excellent as well. Wine is on the pricey side for mid-grade bottles so if you plan a date, get your wallet out.
Very cool atmosphere and great service and food!
Enjoyed the Medium and the Magician!
Not that enthused with the 7:30 show. Left before it finished.
Overall great and cool ambiance!!
The magic show portion was very disappointing. I think they could have done more for a kid audience.
magic show consisted of 3 tricks dining room packed
The experience was fantastic. Parking is very easy with the provided value. The unmarked entrance adds to the allure of House of Cards. The magicians were engaging and entertaining. Service was very good. The only less than excellent rating is the price of drinks is on the high side. I recommend dining at House of Cards. You will not be disappointed with the experience.
food, atmosphere and magic made this a must do at least one time. photographer wasnt friendly and staff should have let you know free photograph was available because you wouldn't have known it if you hadn't been told by someone who has been before. outside patio is lovely although thats where the smokers hang out. still, it was a magical experience.
great entertainment- wonderful magicians, great cocktails, love the atmosphere. a great escape
The best night ever. We will come again and again!!!!
Magic is great
Food is good
Service is average
Great food and service. Better than anticipated.
Would recommend as a wonderful way to celebrate any special occasion. Loved the magicians and complementary picture of our magical evening. We'll be back.
While billed as a "most unique dining and entertainment experience", House of Cards was unimpressive and routine in person. Out of the three magicians we saw, only one did anything we hadn't seen before. The other two did card tricks and mentalism that were old hat long before we were born.
The tables were too closely arranged to allow for any degree of privacy, it was so dimly lit they provided flashlights so you could read the menu, and when you looked at the final bill, it wasn't a good value at all. We could have gone to Morton's, then 3rd Coast and enjoyed a better meal and higher quality entertainment at a lower price.
The magic show wasn’t as impressive as advertised and the waiters came up to our table several times and kept asking if we were ready to order. Clearly we weren’t considering the fact that
Very cool atmosphere with good service and average to below average food. My spouse wanted a soup & large salad, but the "rules" mean you don't get free tickets to magic show unless you order an entree. Average wine list, severely overpriced. Ordered a petite filet medium, arrived well done & charred. Sent it back & the second time it came back medium but still tasted charred....Spouse had already finished her entree, so I ate 80% of it. They sent two glasses of complimentary champagne for our anniversary. The glasses were 20% full...No Class ! Then we paid with a 20% gratuity $311.00 & went to the magic show...Shoulda' stuck with the soup and salad if you get my drift ! This place it One and Done in Our Book !
The entire experience my husband and I had at HOC would be described as magical (pun intended). From the moment we arrived to the very last minute we were there, everyone treated us friendly and made sure we were enjoying ourselves the entire time. The floor Magicians were outstanding, I enjoyed watching each of them preform their craft beautifully. I would recommend this place to everyone, every time they ask what is the best thing about downtown. I can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic experience. Magic shows and floor magicians were extremely entertaining. Servers/bartenders all extremely accommodating. Cocktails delicious and food was fabulous.
Enjoyed our evening! Wonderful service and experience.
Food is expensive and of average quality. Side magic shows are great, and more sleight of hand card tricks would be nice. Main magic show could have been longer.
House of Cards was great! I took my boyfriend here for our anniversary dinner and it was wonderful!
I had the tomahawk pork chop that was on their fall menu and my boyfriend had the halibut. Both were cooked perfectly and a great portion. We shared the fingerling potatoes, a bottle of wine and the creme brûlée.
Our server Taylor was very informative and attentive. He told us what he recommended as far as food and how to properly enjoy the entertainment. We enjoyed our food and dining experience, payed out and then took our drinks with us to see the magicians. Our dinner reservation was at 7pm and we were assigned to go to the 9:15pm theater show. It was nice to take our time and enjoy the evening. We were able to see one close up magician's set before going to the theater show, then we saw the other two magician's on the floor afterwards.
I highly recommend House of Cards, it was a great experience and I will definitely go back. It was nice to dress up and have a special evening. The decor was really beautiful and you should definitely check out Thurston the ghost piano player who plays songs you request. It was fun and interesting to see what songs he knew and could play, my favorite was to have him play different theme songs from tv shows and movies. The enclosed patio was beautiful with a nice waterfall and seating to enjoy your drink and a cigar if you want one.
They don't allow photography which I understand because it was really nice to experience everything the place has to offer without it being ruined by seeing pics from others all over social media. They did have a photographer who came around and took a complimentary pic which they print out and put in a frame for you which was really nice.
I highly recommend House of Cards!! ++++++
The food was pretty great - both in variety and in flavor - but I was underwhelmed by the show. I really liked the small-setting sleight of hand shows, but the main show was too short. The tricks were pretty basic (it seemed like - except for the grand finale) and it came to an end way too quickly - it didn't seem like the tricks ramped up to the finale appropriately. I was invited to this thing so I don't know how much she paid, but I'm sure it wasn't cheap.
Speaking of price- the prices are outrageous ($15 per cocktail, for example...). The whole experience is worth the while, but I'm not sure I'd go again, however much fun it was.
Incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience you can actually have multiple times. One of the top 5 experiences I have had in my life, and that includes the Melbourne cast of Priscilla put on an impromptu drag show at a club in Southbank.
Very nice restaurant, with a great atmosphere, great food, big selection of drinks in the bar and that magic part of dining was fantastic. Not just only the main show, but also the close up magic and illusion too.
Had a great time, what a unique place. Food was good...Brussel sprouts were amazing. Up close Magic was awesome. Performer on main show was just okay.
Everything about the experience was wonderful. From the host who escorted us from the loud street outside to the quiet stairway down, the team of servers who constantly but unobtrusively checked on our needs, the food!, the magicians. It was a genuinely magical night.
Ruth’s Chris prices for basic quality. My filet Oscar style was good, not great. For $70 I expect great. The green beans that accompanied it were much too salty. A lady at the table next to us sent back her food and got a salad because everything on her plate was salty. The magic was juvenile. 90% of it was card tricks that you can do at home. The main act wasn’t any better and was a bit vulgar for my taste. We travel a lot and eat at great restaurants. I know I am spoiled, but this was no where near what all the hype was! Go out for a great dinner and then enjoy a show instead.
Ambiance was fantastic. Please plan to spend more than was indicated on Open Table, 50-100 per person.
Felt rushed! Didn’t get cocktails till after orders and arrived with entree.
