We were there for dinner last week and enjoyed our food. This time we came for their Happy Hour. $3 for ice cold beers $4 for wines and $5 for Stoli vodka. We had blackened riblets, 2 flavours of chicken wings and Cajun chicken pasta to share. Lively atmosphere, friendly waitstaff and flavorful food. $50 for 2 with 4 drinks---good value for an early supper. Highly recommend !
I didn't think this meal was a good value overall. Hamburger and fries with a soda was close to $20. The hamburger was large but was very salty. I was disappointed in the experience overall.
Good food and great value for casual dining. This eatery is close by to Marriott Pulse so we can go after we landed in San Diego. The restaurant even made a long distance call to Canada to confirm our reservation a day prior which I'm really impressed!
There was a slight delay between the appetizer and main and the server apologized profusely. We weren't upset at all. For us food always trumps service anyways.
Jerk wings, bacon burger, ribs and ice cold beer are all tasty, done with love/care, big portions for your dollar, great value.
Will frequent again next time in town.
Love the atmosphere and the decor! If you're seeing a show, it's a great place to eat and hang out beforehand.
The House of Blues was a fun place to grab an early dinner with friends. It has a great 'Blues'-y and Jazzy theme'd interior with a small outdoor dining area on one side. We sat outside - ordering a combination of small plates, salads and a pasta dish. All of the food was great. Portion size was large.
We arrived during happy hour so the drinks weren't too pricey (5 dollars for a nonspeciality mixed drink). If you order a mule - it comes with a copper mug that you can keep (although it adds 3 dollars more! A surprise but not displeasing).
I help my best friend celebrate her 50th birthday, food was awesome and DJ was great!
Fun night, service was outstanding, a little far in the gaslamp.
These guys can take a refresher on customer service and friendlyness. From the moment i walked up as a newbie i was met by a pushy giant who questioned my motive? I said I have a reservation....wait at the front for the hostess he said. So after about 10 min finally someone showed but not before this barbarian asked me once again what I am doing there and if he could help....seriously folks cmon. I am never gon a eat there again. The only reason I tried was due to a consert and early entry...shame on me. I will purchase VIP tickets and skip the House of Blues food experience.

Food was great. Beer was cold! The whole place was rocking! We had a blast! We will be back soon we hope! Next time we want tickets to the balcony seats for the House Of Blues Venue.
My wife and I were looking for something not too expensive for a late dinner. It was our last night in town and I wanted to hear live music while we ate. After researching a few options, we went to the House of Blues. There was live music in the bar area and a concert in the venue side. The music wasn't disrupting but our waitress could have came by to refill our drinks and water. I had the ribs and gumbo, which was okay, but not good enough to run back and eat there again. My wife had the fried chicken, which she said the batter was bland. All in all, it wasn't a disappointment but it wasn't anything to brag about.
We went to eat there before a concert and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We don't normally eat at chain restaurants, we find the quality is not usually as good but we both enjoyed our meals and shared an appetizer. They spice their foods well and everything came out hot and the price was reasonable for a downtown restaurant
Was seated promptly and sat for 15-20 minutes. Server never came to table but did serve people who arrived after us. The restaurant was not busy at the time. Ended up leaving and going to another restaurant.
Nice place especially for live music lovers. Food and service is very good. We had dinner before stepping next door to the music venue.
The food is amazing. Lots of people think it's going to be a tourist trap restaurant with subpar food; this is not the case. The food is so delicious and reasonably priced.
The drinks are also awesome and not like where you can just barely tell the alcohol made it in the glass; they are the real deal.
The staff - no idea where to begin - the hostess, the manager and my server were all outstanding.
Love Love Love HOB San Diego
Great food and service thanks for the personal service to our waitress Alex
Great burger. Overpriced cocktails.
Leela James, Daley were awesome, i really enjoyed my time, highly recommend
The food is improving, the drinks are good, and the servers and hosts are always super friendly.
1st time in San Diego and to this place. It was amazing. Nice staff, quick service and great beer and food
Waitress save the evening. Very accommodating. A couple of things were just not right (e.g. drinks not quite up to standard), she immediately made it right without a hassle. Some of the food was just warm, not hot. Expecting a little livelier crowd. Overall not bad, would definitely not rule out a return visit.
I love going to the House of Blues. The food has gotten better over the years, but is still a bit mediocre. But it's still a great place to go for music, drinks, and art. I ordered the chicken breast with smashed potatoes. It was tasty. My friend ordered the salmon. It was over-cooked. But everything was made right in the world by the Bourbon Bread Pudding a la mode.
Make sure you make reservations if you want to get in at a certain time. Great if you are going to see a show inside because a dinner there let's you"pass the line". Cool vibe and funky deco. Try it out!!
The servicw was great, friendly, live music and really good food.
Food was great show was awesome
The service was excellent. And the employees were very friendly
Had a great time my friend and I before the Aaron Lewis concert the drinks and food was so yummy!!!
I came in for a reservation for three to celebrate a concert on Tuesday. It was our first to see Simple Plan and they played at House of Blues. We arrived early, the bouncer and host were generous and answered our questions swiftly. We were seated in a great spot with barely any noise and the food was fantastic. Even though they were out of the beer I wanted, my server was kind to let me know and give me other options. Servers were friendly! Was able to give me the discount I received in my email. Didn't have any problems and was left with no worries. I had a great time with friends preshow with food and drinks! Come on down!
Had a Groupon for $50 off our bill if we spent $100. Was well worth it the waitress didn't even think twice. she had seen it before and knew what to do and was still very attentive and polite. Her name was Alex and she was great! The food was awesome and great selection of beer. We ate there before a concert there.
The food was amazing! The DJ was really good and the service was awesome. We were there for a concert and had a lot of questions. Our server was patient with us and so friendly. I loved the entire experience!
This is the 1st time we've ever been to the House of Blues. We had a great time! The staff was very attentive, answered all our questions and even surprised us with a Bday gift! We were in town for a concert at the House of Blues and wanted to have a special dinner somewhere near the venue. This was PERFECT! We even got "head of the line" passes because we dined there! Although we stayed there a couple of hours having dinner and drinks, the staff never rushed us and continued to check on us. Great Service, highly recommended.
Our waiter was very kind and helpful... Loved the Restaurant and the Music Venue.
Went to dinner and to see "Passenger" who I always book each time he comes to San Diego. This year I had an injury that required I have a seat and was allowed to sit on the top level. Comments for the area are that the sound didn't seem well mixed up there and the A/C was very loud at times competing with the singers. I love this venue but the top section does need some work. Please continue to bring Passenger back each year, he is fabulous!
A very helpful, friendly wait staff. Made my reservation, showed up for my reservation, enjoyed my dining experience, enjoyed the singer, guitar player; then got an email asking why I didn't show up!!???
Great food, amazing service, and perfect pre-concert dinner!
Love the HOB, went to see Bad Religion...we always have dinner there before a show there...love everything about it...the ambiance, the service, the drinks, the emoloyees, the best shows....whats not to like!
Had a fantastic time! Food was great, music even better!
We went before a concert with the kids and we had a great time with great food and drinks.
Good food, great service, fun venue for date night or happy hour
Great service, Great food! It was a perfect set up to go to before or after a concert! Enjoyed the coupon sent, since we bought concert tickets!
My daughter and I came to the House of Blues on my birthday to see Chase Rice and grab a quick bite. We were on a tight schedule for time and had relayed that to our waitress. . .she completely understood and expedited our food, drinks and check. The food was very good and not overpriced. Overall a great experience and I would definitely go back!
