I used to love going to the House of Blues Restaurant. They USED to have these amazing steak tacos as well as an amazing chocolate cheesecake, but to my surprise they completely changed the menu. My husband and I still wanted to give it a shot and tried their new appetizers, entrees, and desserts but it was not good at all. This disappointed me so much, we couldn't even finish eating the food we ordered because it was not good at all. If you loved the old menu, I suggest you don't try the new menu because it is not at all the same.
The food was cold and unseasoned.
The staff was friendly, the service was great and the concert was awesome!!
Restaurant was very good....great music! Only thing wrong is parking. Paid $27 for 2 hours across the street.
Back door left open on a cold rainy night. Lots of foot traffic past the tables.
Good Food, Great Concerts!
We went here before a concert. The food was delicious and the service was very attentive. I would coming here just for the food
Great way to skip the concert lines! Only spend $40 or more at the restaurant and you get to skip the lines! We were able to have dinner and a few drinks and get right up front without waiting in the long line! We planned to eat there anyway so that was a bonus! Nothing More is an amazing band!
We were running late for the show at the HOB that night, which started at 8pm. Our server was VERY aware of this and made sure we ordered quickly, received our food super fast and got us out the door and on our merry way on time. Fantastic!
Reservations worked out great. Long line to get in but our table was waiting for us. Food only soso. Concert venue fantastic.
Even if the music and the atmosphere was ok, I have some complains about the place. We had reservation for 8:30, we started to have dinner at 9:30, and even the website said that the place closes at 11, people started to close at 10 with a hurry on us. The food, honestly was so greasy, and unpleasant, probably cooked in a rush. So, I would not recommend the place. I had a bettter expectation.
Very quiet night. Good music in the background and the jambalaya was fabulous. Highly recommend the voodoo shrimp also. Drinks were overpriced and didn’t need the southern comfort cups. Overall would go back, hoping for a livelier evening there. Too quiet.
We were sat right away at the time of our reservation. Our waiter was not particularly attentive but there was a waitress running around, seemingly trying to pick up his slack. It wasn’t very busy but he didn’t have time to check on us, or bring us the check. We ordered gator bites, the bbq bacon burger, and Cajun shrimp tacos - all of the items we got were delicious. They also have a good happy hour.
Food was above average. People who work here very friendly. I used to work at a few restaurants. Our waitress Brittany was the best server we've ever seen. Total environment was laid back.
Only thing that could've made it better would be to see some of the concert going on at the time.
Went for blues feel and got hip hop blasting loud music. Wait staff were good but there was no blues feel and no blues music. Why call yourself house of blues??
VooDoo shrimp was amazing!
Overall unimpressive. I had high expectations due to name recognition. The restaurant is basically burgers, salads and sandwiches. Could not hear the performer in the back of the restaurant, and I went specifically to hear the performer.
This is our second time dining at HOB before a show, and we’ve always had a great experience! The food is delicious! Great selection of Southern eats, fantastic service and cozy and casual atmosphere. Reasonable prices for a quality dinner. Love the bluesy background music, and decor!
Enjoying dinner before a show is really a treat here:)
This was likely the worst dining experience I ever had. First of all, everything is so spicy here that even the water was sharp. We asked clearly in advance if we could have food with no pepper or sharp spices - and went so far as to order a plain grilled chicken sandwich as a stand-by. It came topped with inedible, spicy coleslaw and pickle slices that nearly killed my wife they were so sharp (she couldn’t stop choking for five minutes.) The beans had a kick, the meat had a kick, basically everything had a kick. OK, maybe that’s your thing, but we asked in advance if we could get the food without the spice and were assured that we could. Then, we sat with soft drinks empty for most of the meal as the server was flirting with one of the other customers. In addition, there was a live musician that we got to listen to at the same time the restaurant was playing recorded music over its PA – a real cacophony preventing relaxing dining. Then, when they finally turned-off the recorded music the musician took more time tuning guitars and chatting up who he was flirting with than playing any music. To top the night off, our server brought over a very hot dessert plate and handed it to us without warning – so our souvenirs from the evening were heartburn, headaches and a burnt palm. All this at double what we should have paid (even with a discount.) AVOID THIS DUMP – TOURIST TRAP!
We really enjoyed the entire experience. Great food and service! The show was fantastic! Great venue and environment.
The food was great we had chicken and shrimp pasta The Shrimp Po Boy and the sliced smoked brisket. The servers were very attentive and the cocktails were very good.
Our server, the kitchen and bar staff combined to make this one of the best dining experiences we have had at the several House of Blues that we have dined.
I've always enjoyed HOB because of the atmosphere and vibe, but not necessarily the food. But I had one of the best meals Saturday night. I ordered the grilled salmon (sans the blackening). It came with a tomato and cucumber salad that was interesting and delicious. Loved it!
Had a great dinner before the show. Waitress was friendly and the environment was awesome.
First time going place was real nice and service excellent
HOB was great! The food was awesome and we saw an awesome show downstairs!
We had a reservation so we got in right away (it was also before the evening rush). Greeter/host was very friendly and professional. Decor was great, fun atmosphere.
Moderate wait for the food. Food was ok, but honestly nothing special, especially for the price. Server checked on us once during the meal and didn't refill our drinks until we were about to leave; a man who I assume was the manager checked on us more than the server did.
Daughter found a long hair in her food and our meal essentially stopped right then. We were not charged for daughter's meal, and were given an additional discount, so props to the manager.
The food I ordered was great. I loved the Kale salad. I was disappointed that they took quite a few of my favorites off the menu and now had a stripped down version. Would request that they add on more non-meat dishes on the new menu.
Staff was friendly and we were promptly seated. Food was excellent. They were accommodating with the fact that our group didn't arrive all at once. We ordered some drinks and waited to order food. Most of the party arrived about 20 minutes later. We ordered without a fuss. I went with the jambalaya and added shrimp. Burgers looked good as well. The last person in our party arrived after we ordered, and they were a bit busier by then which delayed his good even more. We we almost done with dinner when they brought his out, BUT because of the delay, they paid for his meal without us even asking.
This was prior to the Mastodon show, wasn't too busy yet. Service was quick and the staff was friendly. The pasta dish was a satisfying level of spicy while remaining flavorful, it paired perfectly with the lemonade =)
Love Love LOVE the food!! My first time there. We ordered a variety of appetizers and 2 dinners each to share. Service was very accommodating , on point and FUN!!. Great ambiance!!! The guitar Bass Player Killed it!!
Great service! We had a great time! We enjoyed the food.
Very cool venue - have always loved the decor and ambience. Just light enough to read the menu, but set a nice mood. Real (gasp!) candles on the table. Talent for the show walked by our table. Food is surprisingly good, and reasonably priced. Was just a little slow getting the drinks and waters to the table going, but server was very busy, and very sweet about it. Recommend!
The food was excellent! The waiter was very knowledgable about the menu, which was very helpful! Overall, great time, enjoyed the music!
Service was bad our waitress kept disappearing our food took 45min. All we ordered was a burger and wings . I was ready to leave they had karaoke. I thought house of blues played jazz, live bands.. it would take 20min for the waitress to bring a beer. My boyfriend likes to have 7beers when we are out he only had 2. In the 130hr we were there. We left and went to another place, no I won't be going there again
My husband and I went here for our 6 year anniversary and were so pleasantly surprise with our experience. Several hosted teas and servers wishes us a happy anniversary and we were also provided champagne to celebrate, free of charge! Once dinner was over we went to the Boyce Avenue concert at the house of blue concert hall. Wonderful date night, I recommend!
The service was great from our waitress; she was really nice and friendly. The food was very good as always.
The Voodoo Shrimp was one of the best appetizers I have had recently. Chicken pieces were on the small side.
I took my wife here last Saturday night (Sep 23rd, 2017) for our wedding anniversary and for a concert afterwards (Ben Folds - AWESOME CONCERT!). We had never eaten here before and may not ever eat there again. HOWEVER, please understand, the service was very good. The atmosphere was pretty good. It was the food that we were just not generally impressed with. My wife did like her appetizer of garlic fries, but her fish tacos entree was just okay. Likewise, the cajun shrimp appetizer I got was pretty good, but the southern fried chicken, mac n cheese and tater tots were nothing special to me. The Hurricane I ordered was quite tasty if you like alcoholic beverages. My wife's fuzzy naval on the other hand tasted . . . weird? Like there was carbonation in it or something perhaps? The desserts we had were coconut pie and the 3 layer chocolate cake. The cake was quite good, but the pie not so much. Now, with that being said, they also brought us complimentary champagne and 2 chocolate covered strawberries. Both were good and a nice touch to the evening. As I said, the service was quite good, it was just the food that was kind of lacking for us. However, our bill came to $85 and for a night out at a decent restaurant with 2 appetizers, 2 mixed drinks, 2 desserts, entree's AND the complimentary champagne and strawberries, I'm not really complaining - just being honest with the experience. We might come back again just for the appetizers and Hurricane's and the chocolate cake :-)
