House of Blues Restaurant & Bar - New Orleans Ratings and Reviews
Good food but they got our order wrong , so one of us ate while the other waited.
Seated us at a table where we were bumped into by staff and patrons. There was a pillar which prevented the poor staff from getting to tables. We had to ask to be moved, after we were splashed by someone’s drink.
The menu on their website looks good- it was also recommended for entertainment so, we thought we would try it.
Upon arriving it took forever to be seated - then the hostess called me ( on my cell) after she seated us and reported that we did not show for our reservation. They had a special menu because it was the first night before Mardi Gras (which was not posted on their site) so, there was really nothing on the menu I could eat.
I was with 2 other people and between the 3 of us we ordered the Mardi gras fries, the vegetable muffaleta, a salad and jumbalaja.
The food was terrible - I did not eat any of the vegetable muffaleta - it was pretty much just a few pieces of vegetables between two inches of bread and more mayo then I have ever seen. The server didn't once ask if anything was good or when she walked by and saw my whole meal still sitting there ask if it was okay or if there was something wrong.
The couple I was with ate a little bit of their meals to try them and within about 15 minutes of getting my food - we paid the bill and went to another restaurant to eat dinner and missed all the entertainment.
Great Food. We had the grilled shrimp with corn bread appetizer which was incredible. We had live blues music and a great waiter. The prices for a restaurant near the French Quarter with live music were reasonable. The place is definitely worth a try. Fun times
Ordered the jalapeño cornbread app and although we were warned the little cast iron skillet was “hot” the actual bread was cold inside. Husband had jambalaya and I had muffuletta for main entree, also not hot. Our first time to house of blues and was expecting bluesy more laid back music. Instead, the live band was more grunge sounding. Our server was okay, nothing above and beyond. Yet, when we paid with a $100 bill and our check was $60, she asked if we would like change back? Really? I wanted to reply, “Do you think your service was worth a $40 tip for $60 tab?” It definitely was not, however, we still left her a tip nonetheless. Overall ambience was just okay. Definitely expected a better “House of Blues” experience.
Everything was awesome. Our waiter was Kris very good service. The bread pudding was the best we’ve ever had. My husband and I have tried it at several different places yours was the bes by far. We live here and will be back. Love love love open table app. Thanks so much ❤️
EVERYTHING WAS TERRIFIC. We had VooDoo Shrimp and Shrimp Creole to start followed by Jambalaya and the best Baby Back Ribs ever. Also, the Bread Pudding was terrific. Good wine list. And the entertainment was a local keyboard player who wrote many of his own songs in the 1980s to today. We will go back when we are back in town. Highly Recommend.
I am a New Orleans local and this was my 2nd time eating at the restaurant within the past 4 months. I was going to see a concert, and we decided to have dinner beforehand. First visit on Sept 29, 2017 was pretty disappointing. I don't recommend any of the appetizers. Small and not worth your money. Burger was decent though.
Decided to give them a 2nd try on Tuesday, Jan 23. Got the Shrimp tacos, and wow! How embarrassing for New Orleans. 4 TINY shrimp on each one - assuming frozen too. Piled with a ton of slaw. Absolutely horrible! This place needs new management for the kitchen! I will not give them a 3rd try and I recommend you eat somewhere else!
Definitely don't get the Carolina Mess i.e. french fry pulled pork nachos, they were so subpar I was really disappointed. The Nashville Wings were also dry rub and just really not very good either. My husband had the ribeye and he enjoyed it. Other than that I was pretty disappointed with the food. The service was pretty good and it wasn't very crowded on a Saturday night at 5:00 PM in New Orleans so note that's a good time to go. I think this would be a good happy hour spot or to get some bar food and drinks maybe although not sure any of the food is any better to be honest. Not sure I would recommend for eating but for drinking and music.
This place has great Wall art and music icons every where. The live entertainment was great! Our waitress Alison was very attentive and welcoming. We had our son who is 21 and daughter who is 9 with us. They both equally enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Voodo shrimp and family style fried chicken was a big hit with us. We would definitely go back.
My wife and I were there for the Sugar Bowl and we had a great meal for lunch and the waitress was very sweet and really nice. The people in this restaurant do a nice job and make you have a really good time with some good ole jazz. The décor is so cool, just a neat place.
