We had lunch here, the place was almost empty with very limited options in their lunch menu. On a positive note, their blackend salmon was good (over priced though).
The food was fantastic as was our service. I came here for my 27th birthday and Patty was a great server!
It was our first time and the food was okay. Our server was decent but he seemed to have to cover a large section. My food was overly salted while the other guests had food that was regularly seasoned.
Food good, service very good, nice entertainment. Great choice for downtown Saturday Jazz Brunch.
Nice outing overall
Management and chef came out to our table
Waitress dajah was awesome
I had the Steak salad with grilled vegetables. The presentation was fantastic. I wasn't sure what to expect, I was impressed that the grilled vegetables and steak weren't served on top of my salad. I really enjoyed it, it was delicious. We didn't get to stay for the band but heard them warming up, they sounded good. I would've liked to have gone back to listen, maybe next time.
It was a great place to converse and discuss businesses affairs.
Loved the food!
Bourbon Yardbird skin tasted burnt or grease was old
The food and drinks were AWFUL.. they actually ran out of liquor to make SEVERAL drinks we were requesting and this was the night before NYE!!! Who does that!
Great music, great service, great ambiance.
It was freezing cold in there! The staff said it always is - they were wearing wool hats!
The food was greasy!!!!! Bad cafeteria level!
Great atmosphere and service. Loved the live band m. Sever was informative
I've lived in Houston my whole life (36 years) and this was my first time going to House of Blues Restaurant and concert venue. We had a wonderful meal before the show and our waiter was very attentive.
Food was bad. I was hungry so I ate it. Pulled pork no seasoning and cold. Voodoo Jalapeno cheddar cornbread tasted like white cake, which then was covered in a gravy with strong non complementary flavors. Skillet cookie tasted dry and like a dough in the refrigerator section grocery store. Fudge sauce had no sugar, cornbread all sugar. Hopefully it was just an off night for the cook staff.
Service was great on the other hand. Very sweet server, was going to concert so did not feel like returning food to get more. I will say they probably would have been willing to fix the problem, I did not give them the opportunity.
Wine took 15 minutes to arrive ("the barstaff was backed up.") Food took 45 minutes to arrive. The flatbread pizza was cold. The salad was horrible....not edible.
The manager apologized and discounted our meal, however, we will never return. It was a horrible experience. With so many wonderful restaurants in Houston, there is no reason for us to return there.
Saturday jazz brunch was wonderful!! Our server David did a awesome job at making sure our food was hot and mimosas were cold. Looking forward to another brunch soon. Will Fortune and his live band was awesome as well covering great songs!!
Had a large party they took care of everyone and make sure everyone was happy with their dish
Just OK. Food was fair. One person received food that was cold. Bugers were good
Babs and Taylor were great bartenders and the food was really good! Great spot to eat listen to music and meet with friends.
This is a great place to eat when you go see an event at The House of Blues. The service was great! I do think it is expensive. I had the Cajun Shrimp Tacos. You get 3 tacos and there are no sides. This cost $15 so I do think it is pricey for the food you get. However, I would go here again before attending a concert at HOB because of the convenience and you can use Pass the Line for the concert when you eat at the restaurant.
HOB always delivers on service and food. It's a great place to listen to live music and grab a bite to eat before heading out to a concert downtown. Staff are friendly and service manager is always nearby to assist.
We purchased the voucher offered with our concert for the evening and arrived early as reviews had indicated service was frequently slow. Our service was mixed on that front, some quick, but mostly slow. We opted to not order appetizers, but asked for the meal sides salads and soup to be brought out as appetizers. We waited approximately 30 minutes for food and when it arrived, all of it arrived at once, except for one salad, which never came. The server offered to take one entree back to keep it warm until after I finished my appetizer soup, but while appreciated does not offer comfort that my food was under a warmer for an extra 20 minutes. The gumbo was so-so, definitely not special, but thicker than many watered down versions you see in Houston. The jambalaya had lots of meat, but some of the pork had an off-putting taste. A manager came to check on us and when we mentioned the arrival of everything at once, he agreed this was inappropriate and out server informed us he would be taking the salad that did not arrive off the bill. How generous, right? That did not happen as we found out later. For a venue that has been around this long, these problems are more like one would expect in a new place, not an established one.
Enjoyed our meal and the environment before the Chris Isaak concert. Good menu and quality food. Service was okay. Could have been a little nicer. Seemed some people had attitudes that could have been improved.
Great food with excellent service. The atmosphere was comfortable and eclectic.
We were there for a concert. Forced to stay within the venue. No re-entry even with a ticket. So strange. We were all starving and thirsty. Waitress got all of our drink orders wrong. I don’t like to leave any negative reviews but it’s bad when you’ve been seated for 25 mins and still no drinks. And when they finally did come out, they came out in small cups (possibly 12oz plastic cups). Kept asking for tea b/c after 2 gulps, our glasses would be empty. Finally asked for a carafe. Food was not temperature hot either. Don’t think we will revisit this venue again.
I always hate to leave negative feedback when the service is so good! Alas, I must do just that, solely due to the food and drink.
We started out with the Garlic Parmesan Wings, which, while nice and crisp, were pretty much flavorless. I expected them to be tossed in garlic and Parmesan cheese, as the name indicates, but they were naked, served with a small cup of a white sauce that tasted neither like garlic nor Parmesan. We were STARVING, so we ate them.
We shared a Smokehouse 2-protein platter with brisket and pulled pork. The best thing on the platter were the pickles - they were delicious! The brisket was pretty good, but the pulled pork was verrrrrrrry dry. Needless to say, we didn't finish the platter. And the drink? I had a beer, and my niece had a mixed cocktail that, she said, tasted like a glass of pink lemonade - not a hint of alcohol.
As I mentioned earlier, the service was fantastic. Our server was very friendly, thorough, and professional. I'll give HOB another shot if I attend a show again. If I do, I'll try a burger!
We came to try it out. Had heard good things about the House of Blues and had a gift certificate I wanted to use. The food was delicious and our waitress was on top of her game. They had a band playing and the volume level was too loud. We couldn’t even hold a conversation because of how loud the band was playing. This made for a pretty bad date night and we were eager to leave. Overall the experience was fair, enjoyed the food but not the ambient.
Two of our party of three had specific dirtary requirements that our server, Maara, handled very well...and she was delightful throughout!
Arrived late afternoon, early evening and was greeted promptly. Given a choice of table or booth. Once seated was taken care of quickly by an awesome server. She offered drinks, starters and also talk about menu options based on what we said we liked. I was also impressed when she pointed out that House of blues were going to be more environmentally friendly, starting with the paper straws. We ordered our food, which was hot...once dish was great and the other was good..... The manager passed by the table to say hello, and asked how are things going. The only disappointment I had was that they offered a 15% discount for a review on yelp and in the middle of doing it, my darn phone died. Orelinda was our server, so ask for her when you drop by.
Food was poor. Open mic night was entertaining but service was horrible. Waited 20 minutes for drinks, waited for appetizers then the food showed up minutes after.
Lots of fun for our group!
Great hurricanes, great food!
Loved the live music from the band Zegovia!
You should ask them back they are awesome!!
My guests and I shared an appetizer. Needless to say we were all sick the next day. Do not recommend for food.
Our waitress, Mara was great! Andre came out from the kitchen to check on the quality of our food and our satisfaction. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere is perfect for almost any special occasion.
Some tables are WAY too close together. I don’t need to hear someone else’s conversation and I’m sure they don’t want to hear mine. Big turn off. Only turn off, but it’s a big one.
Nice music, but the place was empty. The brunch menu was small with about 8-10 dishes on it. Ordered the steak and egg and the shrimp and grits. Nice size potion for the price. The shrimp and grits were really good. But overall we enjoyed our experience.
Our server Richard was AMAZING! The food and beverages were good. It was nice for Babs, the floor supervisor, to stop by our table and ask how everything was.
Great place for an outing with friends. Wide variety of live music on the calendar. The "Houston Jazz Orchestra" performed on our visit Nov 12th. Amazing performance by 18 of the best jazz players in the Houston area (if not the state of Texas!!). The "Houston Jazz Orchestra" performs at House of Blues Houston usually on Mondays around once a month. Check the music calendar there for future appearances. You will not be disappointed!! Their next show at House of Blues is Monday Dec 3rd. Reservations are available and recommended.
Our server Matt did his best to make sure we were "taken care of" during our visit. Enough menu choices of comfort food to please a wide variety of diners.
Been to House of Blues Houston at least a half dozen times and enjoyed every visit!!
I was promptly seated, but waited so long for a server to arrive I had to inform the host. Then it was another 2 minutes for a server to arrive. Food and drinks were prompt enough, it was a busier night. There was no manager that came by and the service was very unenthusiastic, quick to leave the table. The happy hour menu was a great value. All the food and drinks were good. Would've ordered more had the service been around more.
First time here. The food was good and a great value for happy hour. The service was great.
