House of Blues Restaurant & Bar - Houston Ratings and Reviews
We have attended several concerts in the last year and decided to reserve a table to grab a bite and drinks before show. We ordered drinks, two apps and two burgers for 6 people that took forever to get. And, the server knew we were there for a concert. I don’t anticipate eating here again, plus drinks are way over priced. I understand at a concert event, but not in the main dining area.
As for the concert, this is the second time we’ve seen Eli Young Band and the base over powered everything.
I drove in with my husband from Austin to see the Eli Young Band and brought my sister and her husband from Conroe. We ordered the family style bar-b-que which was really good. We are all trying to eat as Atkins as possible, no or few carbs and this was the ticket for sure. Aside from the brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken and sausage the sides were cold slaw and baked beans. Fed 4 adults
We made dinner reservations because we had tickets to see a concert at HoB. While our experience with the restaurant was good, I kept asking each person I came in contact with to make sure they had ADA accommodations for my husband. I was assured the venue had accommodations. We finished our dinner, went to the concert, and the venue refused to accommodate my husband. I am very disappointed. We did not get to see The Toadies and our tickets went unused because HoB would not provide ADA accommodations. I purchased my tickets first hand through Live nation. $160 wasted.
We tried to order a Blue Moon on draft and we’re told they were out of it. We then tried to order a strawberry margarita and were told they were out of strawberry. Once we found drinks we could actually get, our experience was great!
Food was good and the staff were very attentive.
Omg I loved it. I'd never been before and was glad I made the reservation. The house was packed but we were seated right away even tho we were early (I heard others being told there was a 45 min wait if u didn't have a reservation). I went for a concert and enjoyed my entire experience. The food and drinks were really good not at all over priced. I'll definitely be back.
While attending a conference, we set our dinner reservation for 7pm yet arriving early, the hostess was able to seat us quickly. I ordered the house recommended brisket plate. The meat serving was generous and was served with BBQ beans, slaw, butter pickles and cornbread. The brisket was very tender but had an odd texture- a bit mushy. My husband had the pulled pork plate and seemed to enjoy it more than I did mine.
We came here for dinner at 6 pm before going to the concert upstairs. There were a lot of people since it was after the Astro parade but we were seated right away since we made reservation. We had to wait before getting our drink and food but it was acceptable since the restaurant was really busy. The waiter got one of our order wrong but they immediately offered the wrong dish fir free and the right one was brought up very quickly afterward. We ordered the tacos with brisket and it was delicious and seems healthier than many of the other choices of food on the menu! We also got to try the brisket hamburger with fries, which was the wrong dish that they offered for free, it was also very good. We also got the waffle fried chicken skewer and drinks for a happy hour price so the bill was pretty low too :) The noise level was acceptable despite the fact that the restaurant was packed and the service was exceptional. Definitely will come back and recommend to others!
While our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful, something caused the service to be horribly slow. Whether it was the kitchen or the bar, we were there for two hours for a party of 4, and it wasn’t a busy night. There are better options in downtown/Green street for pre-event dinners.
Would have been better if we would have received our pitcher of Sangria before we finished our meal. But our waiter was nice and it wasn't his fault. The manager was nice too. I would have discounted the food with the apology and explanation why it took over 30 minutes before any explanation or suggestion about our pitcher we didn't receive
We had to go back up to the hostess to request a server after sitting at the table for 15 minutes with no one stopping by. Waited 45 minutes for food to come out after ordering. They offered us 15% off for the terrible service and mediocre food and no manager ever came by. There was supposed to be music but there was not and the background sound was so low you could barely hear it. Worst experience at a HOB ever.
We arrived early for our reservation and were promptly seated by the very polite hostess. Our waiter was quick to introduce himself and take our drink order. Since the menu had just changed the day before, he gave us a rundown of specials. I loved our table, it was near the kitchen and the executive chef checked in with us. Also very friendly and it was a pleasure to talk to him. It was wonderful to see a well run and efficient kitchen and you can clearly tell that those people enjoy their work and fellow employees. The portions were good sized and the appetizer was very good. Burgers were huge, pasta was cooked to perfection and the fried chicken was the moistest I've ever had. The quality of food was much appreciated as well as the cost.
It was a special event out, so the bread pudding and skillet cookie rounded out the meal. Excellent. We drove over 1 1/2 hours to Houston to dine there and it was worth it.
There aren't many places I would review and rate so highly, but this is one of the top places I've ever dined. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Excellent!
Came in for pre-game drinks and dinner. happy hour menu did the trick, flatbread of the day was unusual but good, as were the sliders (except for the pickles - keep those on the side). happy hours drinks were well priced, but selection limited - you could use a few more craft beers on the list - maybe a local one
