House of Blues Restaurant & Bar - Dallas Ratings and Reviews
Ordered steak salad. Looked like a chopped up piece of meat with a side of roasted veggies and arugla all separated? That's not a salad, that's a steak with sides. Menu also said there were grilled onions but it was Brussels sprouts. And arugla is way too bitter by itself, needs to be mixed to be edible. Slow service and drinks are way over priced.
I was disappointed with the preparation, taste and quality of the food in general. I ordered gumbo and the special that was reccomended to me by the waiter, chicken teguchipoulas. It is supposed to be Cajun cuisine and it was really bad. The gumbo was really bad and did not resemble any gumbo I have ever had. I live close to New Orleans and I am very familiar with Cajun cuisine. The chicken was supposed to be blackened and was not. It was also served at room temperature like it had been sitting around the kitchen fo a while. I am dissapointed that my wife did not like her fish sandwich which was also supposed to be blackened. It was not and was as bland as the chicken I was served. Took the staff over 30 minutes to gind s bottle of Pelagrino, a sparkling Italian water.
Staff and service was fantastic; however, they had to be because the food and cocktails were below average at the very best. The server and manager did everything they could, but they couldn’t fix mediocre food and drinks. Only thing that saved the night was a very nice Voodoo Shrimp appetizer.
This was my first visit, it was a date with my Wife for Valentines day. We were early for our reservation so we went to the bar, the service was almost non existent, the bartender seemed bothered to be there. We were seated for dinner, after 3 tries we ordered a beer, and after 3 more tries we ordered Dinner, A wedge salad that looked like it came from Kroger, a skillet of cornbread that was cold in the middle and Shrimp and grits that may have been worth a third of
the menu price. All in all a bad experience. I will not return.
We arrived early and sat at the bar for drinks prior to dinner. This portion of our visit was perfectly fine.
Upon being seated for dinner we were placed a t a table in the center of the room but because the door kept opening and it was cold outside the entire room dropped to about 60 degrees which made it rather chilly.
Our waitress finally arrived and took our order for our two meals. My date ordered a meal which consisted of veggies and chicken. The veggies were fine but the chicken was so overcooked on the grill that it was like shoe leather. We ended up sending this meal back only never to see its replacement after speaking to the manager. We waited about 25 minutes for the replacement which never showed while my meal got cold, I ordered the jambalaya. My meal was overcooked as well with the rice being extremely mushy and a pretty small portion in relation to the price. We were so tired of waiting for my dates meal that we finally just got up and left without paying for either meal as the waitress apologized.
Will definitely not return for the food or service. HOB should definitely be concerned with the food and service in the Dallas location.
The service was fair. We waited a long time and the appetizer came out at the same time of ONE of our entrees. We had to wait for the other entree. I sent one entree (jambalaya) back because it was BARELY luke-warm. They brought me another bowl which was hardly any hotter. Because of the length of the wait for our food, they did take the appetizer off of the bill.
The service was great! The Live Music was great! The food was good, but they were out of 2 of the 4 desserts offered. It's Saturday night HOB. You're not a newbie establishment. You should really have everything you offer unless it's fresh fish flown in from the coast. We liked the place, but were disappointed with the dessert options & lack of availability.
Also, two sets of entry doors or rotating doors are REALLY needed to keep the weather outside. We were freezing because of the cold air rush every time someone came in or left.
We love the atmosphere! We plan to eat at each House of Blues around the country. I was disappointed to be told the kitchen only allows a certain amount of brisket to be sold alone, so I couldn't get what I wanted. I have 9 others to get it at and I'm sure it will be fabulous! The bread pudding is amazing!!
Our table was not ready when we arrived, even though we had reservations . It was not busy, so there was no reason for it to not be ready. The service was poor. The food wasn't hot when it was served. While the manager did make things right in terms of the price, I would not recommend this restaurant.
One of the people in our party was on crutches and needed to park in the handicapped spot. A man that appeared to be the HOB manager came out to his car that was parked in a handicapped space took a phone call then got back out. We asked about handicapped parking and if he was leaving. He dismissed us and said valet was the handicapped parking. Valet parking is $15. To make a handicapped person pay $15 for parking when a manager that does not have a handicapped tag is using the space illegally is completely wrong. Another person in the restaurant tried to fix it after the fact saying he will move the car and they will comp the valet costs. But we had already parked much further away for $8.
The food was ok and the beer selection was worse than that but I am most frustrated that the website said we could get in early if we had dinner and we ended up finding out it was at the bands discretion. Probably not the restaurants fault but still...I would have gotten fast food and just gotten in line if I had know that.
Gator bites were tasty! Food could have been served more hot than it was, and the Garlic Cajun fries seemed more plain than anything. Hubby was disappointed. Music so so, maybe it picked up more after we left. Honestly I expected more for my first visit to a House of Blues.
We had a show downstairs at House of Blues at 8pm, so we ate there for convenience. The solo live music was pretty good, we could hold conversations, but then the music changed to a band so we could no longer hear each other. The waiter was nice, but got the order wrong for one person in my party, then when the bill came that extra wrong order was on the tab. He was slow to bring the correct order an fix the bill. Still was worth to eat there than the hassle of finding parking again.
Let me start by saying everyone has a bad day. We ordered the fried chicken and the southern salad with grilled salmon. The food came timely but my salmon was undercooked in the middle. The server took it back and it was at least another 10 minutes before it came back. The server offered us a free desert. The fried chicken was amazing. We ordered a southern sundae, basically ice cream chocolate and pecans. It was 25 minutes before that arrived. I went and found the manager (it’s amazing what people will do when you’re not an a**hole) I calmly explained what happened she came back to our table and gave us a free dinner. We still left the tip (it was still brought to us) then as we were leaving they offered us tickets to the show which we declined basically because we were wiped out from the week. I will definitely go back and try it again. Love the place, love music and good food.
Our server, Mike S., was outstanding even though he was new. This was our first visit to HOB, but we will definitely be back. We came for an easy bite before a concert, but I would return for the food alone. We had the cajun shrimp and the chocolate dessert - both were extremely tasty.
I had a reservation for 8h30 pm and the restaurant should be open until 10pm. When we got there they were already "closing". We ordered a flatbread and there was silverware or napkins. To cut the story short, the check was also wrong...... Definitely will not going back
The restaurant was empty which made for a nice quiet atmosphere, but being that we were 1 of four tables in the restaurant, and they had two waiters, it made his poor service really stand out. It wasn’t bad, he just took way too long between our drink order and food. Took him awhile to notice us initially, so it was about 30 minutes in before we got to place our order. The food was terribly bland and underwhelming, especially for those prices. I got the Cajun pasta, and it was lukewarm and bland. Don’t think I’ll ever eat here again
Food was decent and fairly priced, drinks were ridiculously expensive. The only reason we went here was because a free concert was advertised to start at 5pm. We got there early and the music didn't start til 5:35pm. We had already finished eating by the time it started so it wasn't quite the experience expected. Would have stayed to drink and hang out if pricing had been more reasonable.
I have been here several times and have never had terrible service until tonight. If you enjoy being COMPLETELY ignored by your bartender - THIS IS YOUR PLACE!! The bartenders have tunnel vision, stay at one end of the bar and are too busy on their cell phones to care about the customers. The food was brought out, put in front of us and the bartender walked away. Did not ask if they could get us anything for our steaks or if they could get us another drink. About 8 minutes after the food was dropped the bartender finally came by and asked if she would get us anything. YAY!!! I have only been choking on this food for 5 min!! Thank you!!! I eventually tried to change up my drink and go with something different, so I ordered a pickle-tini. He repeated the order and said absolutely. NO pickle juice... it was Olive juice and Vodka. GAG! Waived down the other person behind the bar, he went to the kitchen and got bread and butter pickle juice. Wow... I remember my first day as a bartender!
When you think dallas... you think TRAINED, IMPRESSIVE BARTENDERS. This - Is - Not - The - Case - At - All!!! I would rather go to a dive bar, smell like an ashtray, eat bar food but actually get served. Ridiculous.
As a musician, this spot need a variety of performers and entertainment didnt start on time! The managers seem out of touch and the staff wasn't ready for busy night! Loved our waitress Miracle even though she struggled with our big party of 25...she had to work our group alone with little help from the kitchen staff and other staff!
